DIAMANDIS’ FURY AT STAGE CRASHER

British singer MARINA DIAMANDIS was so livid when a fan stormed the stage during a gig, she hit him in the face.
The 24 year old, also known by her stage name of Marina and the Diamond s, was left stunned when an intoxicated man jumped onstage and attempted to destroy her instruments - so she hit out at him.
She tells Britain’s Company magazine, "I tried to punch a guy once but I missed and only clipped his jaw. I wouldn’t normally punch anyone, beca use violence is never the answer, but he deserved it. He was drugged-up a nd trying to tip my keyboard upside down while I was playing."

HUGHES CAN’T BELIEVE THE STORY OF HIS LIFE AFTER WRITING AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Former DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH star GLENN HUGHES plans to shock fan s with stories of debauchery and drug use in a new autobiography.
The legendary singer and bassist has teamed up with writer Joel McIver to pen The Life, Near Death, And Rebirth Of A Rock Star: Deep Purple And Beyond.
Metallica’s Lars Ulrich will offer up an introduction to the book, whic h will feature rare photos.
And Hughes admits even he can’t believe he’s still alive after all the rocker’s lived through: "You’ve never read anything like it… from my ch ildhood via my career in Trapeze and Deep Purple to my addiction and reco very.
"I’m now on top of the world as a solo artist and, after so many years of sobriety, I can hardly believe that I survived. I spent a million doll ars on cocaine and, when you’ve read this book, you won’t believe it eith er." The tome will also feature contributions from Hughes’ famous pals David Coverdale, Tony Iommi and designer John Varvatos.
The book is expected to hit shelves later this year (10).

BLOODY TALE AS ROCKER BYRNE COLLIDES WITH GUITAR AT PIXIES SHOW

Australian rocker AZARIA BYRNE turned Saturday night’s (20Mar10) PIXIES s how in Melbourne into a bloody mess after colliding with a bandmate’s gui tar.
The Art frontman, whose band is supporting The Pixies in Australia, com pleted his set with blood pouring from a head wound after guitarist KJ sm acked him with her axe onstage.
Byrne, the on/off boyfriend of The Veronicas star Jess Origliasso, tell s the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "We were playing our third song and I went over to rock out with KJ and she didn’t see me there. Her bass clipped me and gashed my head.
"I was pouring blood all over the stage." Paramedics stitched up the gash following the band’s performance. (KL/W

FOGERTY TO BE HONOURED

Rocker JOHN FOGERTY is to be honoured as the 2010 BMI Icon at a gala in L os Angeles in May (10).
The former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman will be feted at the 5 8th annual Pop Awards for his "unique and indelible influence on generati ons of music makers." The invitation-only event will also honour the songwriters and publishe rs of the past year’s most-performed pop songs in the U.S.
The gala will culminate with an all-star musical tribute to Fogerty.
Past BMI Icons include Paul Simon, James Brown, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton.

MONTAG WANTS TO MAKE A SPLASH WITH MERMAID MOVIE REMAKE

Reality TV star HEIDI MONTAG is begging moviemaker RON HOWARD to remake m ermaid movie SPLASH - because she wants to play DARYL HANNAH’s role.
The Hills star, who is about to make her big screen debut in Adam Sandl er comedy Just Go With It, has always been a big fan of the 1984 film, wh ich also featured a young Tom Hanks - and she thinks she’d be a perfect m ermaid.
Montag says, "Splash is one of my favourites… I wanna do the remake; I wanna be the mermaid. I think I couple play her pretty well." The TV star has revealed she approached Howard with the idea when they teamed up recently to make a FunnyOrDie.com online skit about plastic sur gery.

THE COVE FILMMAKERS FORCE CLOSURE OF RESTAURANT

The sushi restaurant at the centre of a sting operation staged by police and the director and consultants of Oscar-winning documentary THE COVE ha s closed temporarily after chefs served up illegal whalemeat.
The filmmakers joined sea-life activists and investigators at the Ocean ic Preservation Society after picking up gold at the Academy Awards earli er this month (Mar10) to shoot undercover footage of restaurant The Hump in Santa Monica, California.
The Hump’s bosses now face misdemeanour charges and fines for offering up banned seafood on their menu.
The owners have chosen to close the restaurant as a "self-imposed punis hment". They also plan to make "substantial contributions" to charities d edicated to saving whales and endangered creatures.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANISER TIDIES UP LOHAN’S HOME

LINDSAY LOHAN’s mum DINA has applauded professional organiser LINDA COOPE R-SMITH’s attempts to clean up her daughter’s life.
The actress called in help after realising her collection of clothes, s hoes and accessories had taken over her Hollywood home.
The Mean Girls star even agreed to open her doors to U.S. TV news show The Insider for the before-and-after expose.
Lohan opened doors to rooms full of clothes and accessories, telling sh ow co-host Niecy Nash there were areas she tried not to enter, adding, "T hat’s how bad it is." Nash drafted in Cooper-Smith to tidy up and organise the actress’ home and the results were aired on TV in America on Friday (19Mar10).
The mess was gone and new closets housed the items Lohan wanted to keep ..
Mum Dina appeared on the show to salute Nash and Cooper-Smith’s good wo rk.
She said, "It’s absolutely amazing."

ANDY GARCIA turned on one top casting agent when she asked him to remove his shirt during an audition.
The Ocean’s Eleven star was left scarred by the experience, and is happ y to note the woman who asked him to go topless is no longer in the busin ess.
He tells WENN, "She asked me to take my shirt off and I said, ‘You firs t!’ And then I walked out.
"It was for one of those silly television shows where they say, ‘We’re looking for someone who’s really well built; will you take your shirt off ?’ "She kind of looked at me: ‘How dare you say that to me? I’m the castin g director!’ It didn’t go much further than that. I never took my shirt o ff nor did I get the part."

Actress NIKKI REED struggled with stunt work for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIP SE - the physically gruelling shoots made her "want to die".
The 21 year old plays vampire Rosalie Hale in the cult films, and she a dmits the long days and harrowing shoots on the movie franchise’s third i nstalment took their toll on her.
She tells People.com, "We’re always standing out in like 30-degree weat her, with pouring rain, trying to keep our vampire make-up intact. It’s h ectic, it’s crazy, it’s very jam-packed full of emotion.
"We were doing a lot of stunts, too much in too little time. The hardes t part is trying to fly around on cables in the woods at 6 o’clock, fight ing the sunset and stuff. And looking like we’re not cold and super power ful, when we just want to die."

DANSON TOLD TO GO BACK TO ACTING CLASS FOR DAMAGES

Actor TED DANSON was stunned when he first landed a role in TV drama DAMA GES - because the creators of the show insisted he took drama classes.
The former Cheers star was initially shocked by the request but now fee ls the decision gave him the chance to hone his acting skills.

Actor JOHN HURT is urging the public to support independent filmmakers am id fears the huge rise in blockbuster movies is pushing them out of the m arket.
The veteran actor landed a lifetime achievement award for his six-decad e long movie career at the Bradford International Film Festival (BIFF) in north England, on Saturday (20Mar10), and he used the opportunity to pro mote low-budget pictures.
Hurt is worried that mega movies, such as James Cameron’s Avatar, which became the biggest grossing box-office hit of all time, are impacting ne gatively on independent films.
He says, "It’s been my constant fight all my life. All you can do is pr epare the ground. You can’t just say this is how it ought to be because y ou’ve got to create a public that actually enjoys it - and therein lies t he difficulties."

WEISZ LEADS OLIVIER AWARDS

THE MUMMY star RACHEL WEISZ was among the big winners at the Laurence Oli vier Awards in Britain on Sunday night (21Mar10), picking up the Best Act ress trophy at the coveted theatre event.

BARON COHEN AND FISHER WED

SACHA BARON COHEN and ISLA FISHER have wed in a small private ceremony in Paris, France.
Reports suggest the Borat star and the Aussie actress partner exchanged vows a week ago (15Mar10) at a traditional Jewish ceremony in front of c lose friends and family.
The couple started dating in 2002 and became engaged six years ago.
They were rumoured to have wed in February (10), but their representati ve rubbished the reports, insisting they had simply been celebrating a Je wish holiday.
But now Fisher, who shares a two-year-old daughter, called Olive, with the funnyman, has confirmed the wedding took place.
In an email to pals, Fisher wrote, "We did it - we’re married! It was t he absolute best day of my life and in so many beautiful moments I missed you all so much. I thought of you as everything was happening, but Sacha and I wanted no fuss."

COYLE’S FURY OVER COLE CONTROVERSY

Singer NADINE COYLE is fuming over reports she’s accused GIRLS ALOUD band mate CHERYL COLE of "milking" her split from her soccer star husband ASHL EY.
Cheryl Cole parted from her husband of three years last month (Feb10) a fter their marriage was rocked by allegations he had cheated on her with five women.
Coyle voiced her support for her pal at the time, insisting she would s nub the sports star if she ever saw him again.
However, reports in the British tabloids earlier this month (Mar10) sug gested Coyle was angry at Cole for playing out the split in public, and w as using the publicity to boost her solo career.
But Coyle is livid at the suggestions she isn’t fully backing her bandm ate.

CHURCH FEARED HEART ATTACK OVER HENSON’S EXERCISE PLAN

Welsh singer CHARLOTTE CHURCH regrets roping in her rugby star beau GAVIN HENSON to help her lose weight - his punishing exercise regime left her fearing a heart attack.
The star has slimmed down since giving birth to her son Dexter last yea r (Jan10), shedding more than 56 pounds (25 kilograms).
Church puts her new look down to a healthy diet - because she couldn’t keep up with the exercise plan Henson devised for her.
She tells Britain’s Sunday Mirror, "I certainly haven’t embarked on som e great exercise regime to get slim. Exercise is alien to me and I don’t like doing it.
"Gavin took me out on a couple of training runs but it was way too much for me. I told him I’d have a heart attack if I carried on so I stopped.
I should have realised that it would be a mistake. They may be great for a rugby player but they left me feeling absolutely knackered (tired)." (

Reunited rockers SUEDE performed their first show in seven years at Londo n’s fabled 100 Club on Saturday night (20Mar10).
The group, led by Brett Anderson, ripped through hits including Animal Nitrate, Metal Mickey and Beautiful Ones at the packed venue - a warm-up for Suede’s Teenage Cancer Trust benefit concert at the British capital’s Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday (24Mar10).
Anderson, who was joined onstage by Neil Codling, Mat Osman, Richard Oa kes and Simon Gilbert, was clearly moved by the comeback gig, telling fan s, "It’s been beautiful. Let’s do it again in another seven years time."

HOPE FOR HENDRIX SIBLINGS OVER LEGACY BATTLE=20

JIMI HENDRIX’s siblings are still at war over the rock legend’s legacy - but his stepsister JANIE insists relations between herself and brother Le on aren’t as bad as reports suggest.
Janie and Leon Hendrix fell out when the former law student took over h er stepbrother’s estate from her ailing father before he died.
She says, "When you divide a family, people are pointing fingers and, o f course, there is money involved and all of that.
"(After Jimi left home), it was just me and Leon. A lot of times Leon w as in jail. My dad just kind of threw his hands up with Leon. He couldn=E2 =80=99t do much with him." Janie, who is now CEO of Experience Hendrix, admits relations between h er, Leon and some family members are better.
She tells CelebrityAccess.com, "I think they are better in some ways bu t, sadly, with some relatives, we still don=E2=80=99t speak." And she insists reports she cut her brother, Leon, out of the Hendrix f ortune are untrue - that was her father’s decision.
She adds, "I really did not know that my dad did not include Leon in th e will. I did realise, of course, that he wasn=E2=80=99t a beneficiary, b ut that didn=E2=80=99t mean that he wasn=E2=80=99t going to get money awa rded or something. I was shocked that my dad didn=E2=80=99t give him anyt hing."

BIG STAR PAY TRIBUTE TO CHILTON AT SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST FESTIVAL

Late BIG STAR leader ALEX CHILTON was saluted at the South By Southwest f estival in Texas on Saturday (20Mar10) when his bandmates performed class ics in his honour.
Jon Auer, Ken Stringfellow and Jody Stephens agreed to perform Big Star ’s scheduled showcase in Austin, despite Chilton’s death last week (17Mar 10).
The singer-songwriter’s widow agreed and penned a letter tribute to her late husband, which was read out to fans by the group’s publicist.
She wrote, "He (Chilton) valued spontaneity… He was a mystery." M. Ward, Mike Mills, Chuck Prophet, Evan Dando and punk icon John Doe w ere among the special guests who performed with Big Star at the Chilton t ribute.
Original Big Star member Andy Hummel jetted in from Lithuania for the e vent.
