ROTH URGES SEAWORLD BOSSES TO RELEASE PERFORMING MAMMALS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS star ELI ROTH is taking aim at the owners of San Die go, California’s SeaWorld, calling for them to move their captive mammals from the "Auschwitz for Orcas" to wildlife sanctuaries at sea.
In a letter to Hamilton James, the President and COO of the The Blackst one Group - which owns SeaWorld, the actor/director pleads with him to ce ase using whales and dolphins to entertain the public.
The missive comes a month after an an orca named Tilikum dragged SeaWor ld trainer Dawn Brancheau to her death during a show.
Roth, the director of horror film Hostel, writes, "It was far more horr ific than anything I ever dreamed up in my horror films. All the violence and suffering in my films is pretend - no one is hurt, ever. Sadly, the same is not true at SeaWorld, which targets their entertainment at famili es and children." He adds, "As someone who works in the entertainment business, I can ass ure you that there are many humane alternatives available to introduce th e public to orcas without having to hold them in captivity for a lifetime against their will. CGI technology, animatronics, and other state-of-the -art virtual reality exhibits could be used in place of the current live- animal shows to provide park visitors with an exciting, educational exper ience.
"In fact, showing visitors a more realistic version of what life is lik e for real marine mammals rather than displaying the captive animals’ unn atural and repetitive behavior patterns - which are linked to their oppre ssive environment - is actually more educational, with no risk to human l ife.
"Having grown up in Massachusetts, I often went whale watching and cann ot stress the impact on me of seeing whales in their natural environment, not cooped up in a tank performing mundane tricks." Roth agreed to write to James and The Blackstone Group on behalf of "my friends at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)." (KL/WN/I

VILLAGE PEOPLE COP SUES FOX OVER THE CLEVELAND SHOW PORTRAYAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Original VILLAGE PEOPLE star VICTOR WILLIS is threatening to sue Fox Broa dcasting Company executives over suggestions he provided the voiceover fo r an "offensive" episode of animated comedy THE CLEVELAND SHOW.
The In The Navy singer claims a press release falsely stated he was inv olved in the show, which poked fun at his former band.
Willis’ spokeswoman Linda Smith tells WENN, "Victor was offended by the episode and says he would never have agreed to do a voiceover for such a n offensive portrayal of the Village People police character originally c reated by him." The episode, titled Buried Pleasure, aired in America on 14 February (1 0) and featured the animated Village People cop parading around in shorts and "eventually jumping on the backside of a male after effeminately yel ling, ‘Dog pile’." Smith adds, "Victor is appalled by the show’s portrayal. He never wore shorts as the original Village People lead singer and cop. So how does Fo x justify such an outright false portrayal, while publishing to the world that Victor Willis did the voiceover - and now it’s all over the interne t, clearly suggesting to the public that the cop character portrayed in t he show is Victor Willis.
"He does not endorse the show or its portrayal. Moreover, he did not do that insulting and effeminate Cleveland Show voiceover." In a cease and desist letter of intent to sue, issued by Willis, the si nger demands an apology from Fox, immediate correction of the erroneous p ress release, suspension of further broadcast of The Cleveland Show’s Bur ied Pleasure episode, pending corrections, and an unspecified amount in m onetary damages.
The litigious star is also currently suing the current incarnation of t he Village People for unauthorised use of his voice and image, and greeti ng cards firm Hallmark for imitating his voice on sound cards. The cases are currently pending.
Last year (09), Willis settled a lawsuit against the organisers of a co llege football half-time concert, which featured an offshoot of the Y.M.C ..A hitmakers. He insisted a group using the band’s name had no right to i nclude his image while performing under the moniker at the 2009 Brut Sun Bowl, which was broadcast across America at the beginning of the year.
Willis has not performed with the Village People since 1984.
