GROHL CONFIRMS COFFEE HOSPITALISATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

FOO FIGHTERS frontman DAVE GROHL has confirmed a spoof video poking fun a t his coffee "addiction" was based on a real medical emergency - he was a dmitted to hospital suffering chest pains after his gruelling work schedu le took its toll on his health.
A video of the rocker in the studio with his Them Crooked Vultures band mates surfaced last week (beg15Mar10) and ridiculed Grohl’s love of hot b everages. The clip ended with screen text which jokingly stated the rocke r was "rushed to (a) doctor due to the onset of unwanted physical effects caused by too much caffeine. For reals (sic). He was kind of a mess." And Grohl has now confirmed the video was sparked by a real-life health scare which doctors blamed on his excessive coffee drinking.
He tells Britain’s Absolute Radio, "That was a year ago, the Fresh Pots video. We were in the studio making a record and I was drinking a lot of coffee. At one point I was doing Vultures stuff at night, Foo Fighters s tuff during the day and I had a newborn at home and I was sleeping maybe two or three hours a night on an air mattress in a guest bedroom. And yea h, I had too much coffee and I started having chest pains, so I went to t he hospital and they told me to stop drinking so much coffee." (LR/WNVR/Z

ALBARN SLAMMED FOR SMOKING ONSTAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

Anti-smoking campaigners in the U.K. are calling for DAMON ALBARN to be f ined after he flouted British law by lighting a cigarette onstage on Sund ay (21Mar10).
The Blur star was performing with his band Gorillaz in Portsmouth, sout h England when he sparked up midway through the set.
Strict regulations in Britain ban smoke from all public places, includi ng concert venues, and offenders can face penalties of up to $4,000 (=C2=A3 2,500).
And bosses at Action on Smoking and Health (Ash) are convinced Albarn a nd guest star Paul Simonon, who also smoked during the gig, deserve a pun ishment.
Spokeswoman Amanda Sandford tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "There can be no excuse for that as it is an indoor place and the law is very clear - we are not allowed to smoke on stage unless it’s relevant to the act.
"They should be fined. It’s not just the artist, it’s the premises wher e the act is held. I would expect the local authority to take the appropr iate action.
"It’s not just illegal but more importantly it’s about the message it s ends out to fans. People in the public eye have a duty not to promote smo king. It’s very irresponsible - I suppose they think it’s rebellious and they may get some extra kudos from it and maybe some extra publicity." A member of staff at the show’s venue, the Wedgewood Rooms, said they h ad not been made aware of the smoking during the concert or received any complaints.

MURRAY’S LAWYER SLAMS BODYGUARD’S CLAIMS

The King of Pop suffered a fatal cardiac arrest last June (09) and his personal physician is accused of administering the powerful anaesthetic P ropofol, which led to the singer’s death. Murray has pleaded not guilty t o one count of involuntary manslaughter.
A leaked statement from security guard Alberto Alvarez, which is said t o have been taken two months after Jackson’s demise, alleges Murray stopp ed administering CPR on the star and told the bodyguard to hide various d rug vials before calling paramedics.
But a statement from Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, has dismissed the al legations and urged the public to "reserve judgement" until the physician is put on trial.
It reads, "This statement was given more than two months after Michael Jackson’s death and is inconsistent with a statement he (Alvarez) gave th e police the day after Mr. Jackson was taken to the hospital.
"Further, his statement does not match up with much of the physical evi dence found at the scene. We will not be trying this case in the press. W e would ask the public to reserve judgment until after the people’s witne sses are placed under oath and subjected to the rigours of cross-examinat ion. We are confident that a fair trial will ferret out the truth." (LR/W
