AKON’s upcoming concert in Sri Lanka has been thrown into jeopardy after government officials denied the R&B singer a visa to enter the country.
The Smack That hitmaker has come under fire from locals in the capital city of Colombo, who took offence to his video Sexy Chick, which features groups of scantily-clad women dancing at a pool party in front of a Budd ha statue.
Some residents in the largely Buddhist country were so incensed by the promo, they held a protest against the singer’s April (10) show on Monday (22Mar10) and gathered outside the headquarters of the Maharaja Organisa tion, the broadcaster sponsoring the gig.
Four network employees were injured as the protesters hurled rocks and stones at the building.
The civil unrest has now prompted government officials to ban Senegales e-American Akon from performing in the country.
Anusha Palpita, the director-general of the Government Information Depa rtment, says, "Taking into consideration the allegations levelled against the singer Akon, the government had decided not to issue him a visa to c onduct the concert in Sri Lanka.
Promoters for the concert have yet to comment on the ban, and represent atives for Akon had yet to respond to requests for a comment as WENN went to press.

Actress LEA MICHELE almost missed out on her starring role in U.S. TV sho w GLEE after she was involved in an horrific car accident on the way to h er audition.
The 23 year old plays wannabe actress Rachel Berry in the popular music al comedy, which is based around an all-singing, all-dancing choir at a f ictional Ohio high school.
But on her way to a callback from producers, Michele found herself embr oiled in a nasty collision - and racing to get to the audition in time.
She says, "I had three auditions; the first time, the piano player mess ed up and they were laughing at me. I was like, ‘Why are you laughing? Th is is supposed to be a serious scene.’ But it turned out I was doing a lo t of things very much like Rachel Berry.
"For my second audition I got into a massive car wreck, left my crashed car in the street and ran into the audition with cuts and glass in my ha ir. And then on the final audition, I had the worst neck ache from the ca r accident, but I’m here now."

Actress DAKOTA FANNING had a tattoo treat in store for her when she appea red on comedian GEORGE LOPEZ’s late-night TV show in America on Monday (2 2Mar10) - her inked idol KAT VON D surprised her with fake skin art.
The I Am Sam star promised her mother she’d never have a real tattoo, b ut that didn’t stop the reality TV star from creating a design for her.
Fanning told host Lopez, "When I was 11 she made me sign a contract and it said, ‘I will not ever get a tattoo…’ I had to sign my name, and my sister had to do the same thing." But when the host invited Kat Von D to be a part of the show, Fanning a greed to let her draw a design on her right arm.
The artist crafted a "cherry bomb" with ‘Dakota’ written underneath it in honour of the actress’ new movie The Runaways, who had a hit with Cher ry Bomb.
The teenager said, "I love it, I really love it." Fanning’s temporary tattoo will wash off, so Kat Von D gave the young a ctress a framed design as a keepsake.

The tattooed model behind SANDRA BULLOCK’s marriage split has always been obsessed with the actress’ husband, according to her ex.
Michelle McGee has gone public with claims she romanced TV action man J esse James while Bullock was on location shooting The Blind Side, prompti ng the actress to walk out on her husband.
And now McGee’s ex, Shane Modica, has spoken out for the first time abo ut his former wife’s attraction to all things Jesse James.
He tells U.S. TV news show The Insider, "We had problems during our mar riage because of (her obsession).
"Our picture is sitting there taped on her mirror, and I looked at it a nd kind of double-taked (looked again) and noticed there was something ov er my face and I looked closer, and it=E2=80=99s a picture of Jesse James , his head cut out (and) pasted over my face.
"I was like, ‘Really, are you serious?’ And she laughed it off thinking it was funny and said, ‘It=E2=80=99s not a big deal, (I) was just doing it as a joke - he=E2=80=99s fat, he=E2=80=99s ugly, he doesn=E2=80=99t ha ve any real tattoos, he=E2=80=99s old, and all that stuff." But Modica admits he wasn’t surprised when his ex told him that she and James were quietly dating last year (09), claiming McGee often referred to James’ marriage to Bullock as a "sham".
He adds, "According to her, (Sandra and Jesse) had this big thing going on where they were going to announce their divorce on a certain timeline and she was going to be the next woman… She was going to make money of f this one way or another." Since the scandal broke last week (ends19Mar10), Modica, who runs a tat too parlour in San Diego, California, has filed legal papers seeking temp orary and legal custody of his five-year-old son Avery with McGee.
Modica filed his latest motion in San Diego, California on Friday (19Ma r10) as a direct result of the tabloid scandal.

LINDSAY LOHAN has been given a style boost after losing her deal with EMA NUEL UNGARO - bosses at colourful Los Angeles-based fashion house Ed Hard y are hoping to hire her to design handbags.
Lohan was reportedly dropped by Ungaro earlier this year (10) after her debut runway show for the company in 2009 was a critical flop.
But the Mean Girls star has bounced back from her latest let down - she is in talks with Ed Hardy boss Christian Audigier to design a line of ha ndbags.
A source tells Eonline.com, "Lindsay and the design team at Ed Hardy ha ve mutual friends, and they knew she was interested in looking for a hand bag license and partner. They thought she=E2=80=99d be a good fit and so did she." Lohan also has her own leggings line; it is not known whether or not th e Hardy deal will include that.

A man accused of stalking reality TV star AUDRINA PATRIDGE has been order ed to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after launching a bizarre tirade d uring a court hearing on Tuesday (23Mar10).
Zachary Loring is facing one count of stalking and three misdemeanour c harges after he was arrested outside The Hills star’s Los Angeles home la st month (Feb10) for violating a three-year restraining order against him ..
His lawyer entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Loring during his arr aignment last month (Feb10), while his client yelled at the judge and exp ressed his desire to change his plea to guilty.
He returned to a Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday for another hearing, during which Loring lost his temper and unleashed a foul-mouthed outburst at the judge and repeatedly told his lawyer, "I’m guilty… I stalked he r." Loring, who is being held on $150,000 (=C2=A393,750) bail, was removed from the courtroom by security and has been sent for a mental evaluation to determine his competency.
His next court date has been set for April (10).
Loring has been banned from approaching Patridge and her family until 2 014.
The self-confessed stalker first hit the headlines when Patridge reques ted a restraining order against him after he showed up on her doorstep wi th disturbing poetry and art.

British singer FLORENCE WELCH often experiences teary "meltdowns" when sh e is working abroad - because her gruelling schedule leaves her feeling o verwhelmed and lonely.
The Florence and the Machine frontwoman has a hectic work life and ofte n finds herself jetting across the globe to promote her music, but the lo ng hours take their toll on Welch, who often feels worn out and isolated.
She tells Britain’s Grazia magazine, "I just feel a bit shell-shocked a nd tired. Before the Brits I was in Japan and then I’ve been in Europe, t ravelling through every country. I’ve had times when I’ve just turned up in a hotel in Stockholm and gone into a meltdown. Crying and feeling lone ly.
"My dad is fantastically good at calming me down and making me see stra ight. I think it’s just a feeling of being overwhelmed. I guess there’s a big part of me that never actually thought any of this would happen and it has, and it’s happened so fast and it’s wonderful, but the changes can be scary."

CHARLOTTE CHURCH is planning to expand her family - the star wants to hav e at least two more children.
The Welsh singer has two young kids, Ruby, two and Dexter, 14 months, w ith rugby player partner Gavin Henson.
But Church would love to add to her brood when the time is right.
She tells Britain’s Reveal magazine, "I don’t want to stop at two child ren, no way. I’d like to have four and, if my body is not completely all mush, I’d like to have even more.
"But I will wait until Ruby goes to school before I have my next two. I love being a mum and I haven’t actually been able to be away from them..
.. I would never want to be away from the children for too long. They mean everything to me."

CHERIE DECASTRO, the last remaining member of 1950s sibling act the DECAS TRO SISTERS, has died at a hospital in Las Vegas.
The 87-year-old and her sisters, Peggy and Babette, became Hollywood si nging sensations after making a name for themselves in their native Cuba, where they were a popular club act.
The trio found success on the Las Vegas stage and scored a big hit in 1 954 with Teach Me Tonight.
Other favourites included Babalu.
Cherie DeCastro was the middle sister of the trio.

Australian rocker SEAN STEWART has died from a suspected suicide at the a ge of 29.
The HTRK bassist was discovered dead last Thursday (18Mar10). His cause of death is currently unknown, but he is believed to have taken his own life, reports altpress.com.
No further details are available as WENN went to press.
Stewart founded HTRK in Melbourne in 2003 with guitarist Nigel Yang and Jonnine Standish. Their debut album Marry Me Tonight, released in 2009, helped them land a support slot on tour with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Stewart is survived by his mother Gloria.

Hospitalised rapper GURU has been diagnosed with suffering from low level s of oxygen, three weeks after he had a heart attack in New York.
The 43 year old, one half of pioneering hip-hop duo Gang Starr, collaps ed on 28 February (10) and was admitted to a New York hospital, where he fell into a coma.
He underwent surgery earlier this month (Mar10) and doctors have been k eeping a close eye on the star since awaking from his coma.
Guru, real name Keith Elam, has since been diagnosed with Anoxia, a con dition where the body lacks an adequate supply of oxygen.
But the rapper’s condition is stable and he is making progress in his r ecovery, thanks to the warm wishes of support from fans.
Guru’s close friend and spokesman, MC Solar, tells AllHipHop.com, "The outpouring of love from around the world has been tremendous. I’m reading some of the best e-mails, texts and Twitters that come in and Guru enjoy s them. I think that’s what has been helping his recovery and what’s got him in there fighting."

MICHAEL JACKSON’s private physician DR. CONRAD MURRAY faces a fight to ke ep his medical license - California prosecutors have filed court papers s eeking to suspend it.
The doctor, who is accused of administering the anaesthetic Propofol wh ich killed the King of Pop, has pleaded not guilty to one count of involu ntary manslaughter, but has already been barred from administering such d rugs.
And now, California Attorney General Jerry Brown wants Murray to stop p ractising medicine as part of the terms of his bail.
Officials at the Los Angeles coroner’s office determined that Jackson d ied from "acute propofol intoxication" in combination with the use of sed atives.
In a statement, Brown has called Murray’s conduct "reprehensible".
The doctor has denied any wrongdoing.

An autographed copy of classic children’s tale THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS ha s sold at auction for $51,840 (=C2=A332,400) - more than 10 times its est imated value.
The treasured book included a handwritten dedication from author Kennet h Grahame to fellow scribe Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch’s daughter, Foy, who is believed to have been the inspiration for the character Ratty. The ins cription was dated October 1908, the same year the story was first publis hed.
The novel proved to be a big attraction at the Bonhams auction in Londo n on Tuesday (23Mar10), with bids far exceeding its minimum estimated pri ce of $4,800 (=C2=A33,000).

Supermodel GISELE BUNDCHEN and her husband TOM BRADY have finally started building their dream home in Los Angeles - two years after purchasing th e plot of land.

JANET JACKSON will forever be thankful to director TYLER PERRY after he h alted shooting on their new movie WHY DID I GET MARRIED TOO? so she had t ime to grieve following the death of her brother MICHAEL.
The singer/actress reprises her role as a psychotherapist in the sequel to 2007’s Why Did I Get Married?, but production on the project ground t o a halt last June (09) when news of Michael Jackson’s sudden passing hit the headlines.
Janet Jackson was left devastated and struggled to cope with the loss o f her closest sibling - but she credits Perry with helping her overcome t he tragic shock.
She tells People.com, "He actually stopped production and was there for me. (He was) constantly calling me, making sure I was OK, making sure th at there wasn’t anything that I needed or my family needed.
"(He’s) such a sweetheart, so giving and so loving." Jackson refused to delay production on the movie anymore than she alrea dy had and declined Perry’s offer to take a few weeks off to spend time w ith her relatives - and the director only allowed her back on the Bahamas set after being assured that she was in the right frame of mind to work.
He says, "Once I spoke to her and found out that she was at a place of strength and going to be with her family, I felt safe enough to know that she was going to be OK." Jackson recently admitted she channelled her anger at the King of Pop’s death into one furious scene when she had to smash up furniture with a g olf club, revealing, "You have to dig deep (for the role) but there was s ome stuff that was right there for me. Stuff that had just happened, with my brother passing…" And Perry admits focusing her energy on her work probably helped Jackso n return to normality: "I think that a lot of times, people are not able to release. GISELE BUNDCHEN insisted on having her pregnant belly airbrushed out of f ashion photoshoots while she was expecting because she refused to share t he "sacred" experience with the world.
The Brazilian beauty first sparked rumours she was to be a mum last May (09) when she and her American footballer husband Tom Brady were spotted leaving an obstetrician’s office just three months after they wed in San ta Monica, California.
Brady denied the claims at the time but the reports refused to go away - and the supermodel only fuelled the rumours by staying silent, despite being pictured out and about sporting a bulging stomach.
She also featured in a number of new advertising campaigns for top fash ion labels, including coat company London Fog, but her baby bump was repl aced in the shots with images of her usual slender frame.
London Fog boss Dari Marder said, "Although Gisele was photographed whi le pregnant, most of the shots have been retouched to respect her privacy during this wonderful and personal time in her life.
"Nobody is sexier or more beautiful than Gisele Bundchen in nothing but a London Fog trench coat, even with her visible baby bump." Now, three months after giving birth to baby Benjamin, Bundchen reveals it was her decision to ban fashion bosses from picturing her pregnant.

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS star MICHAEL FASSBENDER has been targeted in a restr aining order filed by his ex-girlfriend, who alleges she fears for her li fe after he reportedly broke her nose in an alcohol-fuelled bust-up last year (09).
Sunawin Andrews filed a request for the ban in Los Angeles County Super ior Court earlier this month (Mar10), stating they fell out in July (09) after the Irish actor returned home from a film festival drunk.
According to the legal papers, Fassbender, who won critical acclaim for his role as Irish hunger strike leader Bobby Sands in 2008’s Hunger, rep ortedly woke up in his own urine and started becoming violent towards And rews, before he "threw (her) over a chair and broke (her) nose".
But that wasn’t the only violent episode he displayed, according to his ex.
She also claims Fassbender dragged her alongside their car on another n ight after an argument about one of her ex-boyfriends. On that occasion, Andrews alleges she was left with a twisted left ankle, a blown knee cap and a burst ovarian cyst.
Andrews is seeking the court approval of the restraining order request to keep Fassbender at least 100 yards away from her and her two kids at a ll times. She is also requesting $20,000 (=C2=A312,500) in compensation t o cover her medical bills, reports TMZ.com.
The actor, 32, has yet to respond to the allegations.
