Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

DAVE GROHL wants to record the next FOO FIGHTERS album in his garage.
The rocker recently revealed he had cancelled the band’s planned hiatus after landing the opportunity to work with former Nirvana producer Butch Vig.
The Foo Fighters are now preparing to start work on a new "heavier than ever" album - and Grohl wants to take the recording process back to basi cs.
He says, "The way you make an album dictates the way it sounds. One of my favourite (Foo Fighters) records was our third one, which we made in m y basement in Virginia.
"We had sleeping bags that we nailed on the wall for soundproofing. The general vibe on that record is really comfortable. I’d go upstairs and m ake chili and come downstairs and do a vocal on a couch. It’s the same id ea. To me it’s about switching up the process; we’ve been using Pro Tools and all that computer stuff the last couple of records. We’re putting th at stuff in the closet and getting our old tape machines out so that we c an just do it like we used to do it."

Veteran British pop stars SQUEEZE have accused record label bosses of sti fling creativity in the music industry by dropping bands if they don’t ac hieve immediate success.
Band member Chris Difford admits the British pop act wouldn’t have surv ived in the ruthless environment of the modern-day music business - becau se their self-titled debut album flopped in 1978.

He tells BBC 6 Music, "There aren’t record companies that will stick by you if your single doesn’t do well. If you don’t do well, you’re out the door. Whereas our record company, A&M, in those days, would stick behind you." Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook adds, "If we’d been placed under the sa me commercial criteria, I think we’d have been gone after our first album .. I don’t think there’s the same freedom and I feel really sorry for peop le who are up and coming now." The group was honoured in London on Tuesday (23Mar10) with the unveilin g of a plaque at the site of their first gig. POLICE MAKING ‘FRESH INQUIRIES’ OVER BASSEY’S DAUGHTER’S DEATH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Police in Britain are re-examining the circumstances surrounding the deat h of DAME SHIRLEY BASSEY’s daughter - just months after the singer told r eporters she "never believed" the 21 year old committed suicide.
The body of Samantha Novak, Bassey’s daughter with second husband Sergi o Novak, was found floating in a river in south west England in 1985. Pol ice at the time concluded she had jumped from a nearby bridge, and the co roner’s report did not find evidence of any foul play - meaning the death was ruled a suicide.
Bassey spoke about the tragedy in October (09), insisting she did not b elieve the youngster took her own life - because she suffered no "broken bones" and there was no "water in her lungs".
Police have now launched "fresh inquiries" into Novak’s death after rec eiving a letter from a woman whose daughter was killed by a man in East S ussex, England in 2001.
Michael Moffat, 47, was convicted of killing Penny Beale and is current ly serving an 11-year prison sentence, and the victim’s mother has writte n to Avon and Somerset Police alleging he was also involved in Novak’s de ath.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Carter, of Avon and Somerset Police, has confirmed officers are re-evaluating the case in the light of the new in formation.
He says, "The mother of Moffat’s victim wrote to us with some informati on in the last couple of weeks. Her daughter had said that Moffat told he r he was involved in the murder of Samantha Novak.
"We looked at the circumstances surrounding the death six months ago af ter comments made by Dame Shirley Bassey. There was nothing from the coro ner’s report to suggest it was murder rather than suicide. This informati on is obviously additional so we are making fresh inquiries." (LR/WNWCCB/
