TIM BURTON’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND continues to work its magic on movie fan s - the film has topped the global box office for the fourth consecutive week.
The Disney fantasy grossed $46 million (=C2=A330.7 million) from audien ces worldwide at the weekend (26-28Mar10), taking its profits outside of the U.S. to $363 million (=C2=A3242 million) and its total global gross t o $656.1 million (=C2=A3437.4 million).
Gerard Butler’s animated Viking adventure How To Train Your Dragon debu ts at two with $31 million (=C2=A320.7 million) from 35 markets, after a weekend which saw the movie slay the competition in the U.S. box office c hart to take the number one position with $43.3 million (=C2=A328.87 mill ion).
Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio’s psychological thriller Shutter Island la nds in third place in the global box office with $10 million (=C2=A36.7 m illion); sci-fi epic Avatar still draws fans in fourth position, and Sand ra Bullock’s Oscar-winning drama The Blind Side rounds out the top five.

JUNE HAVOC, the actress who inspired STEPHEN SONDHEIM vaudeville musical GYPSY, has died in Connecticut at the age of 97.
The actress and writer passed away from natural causes at her home in S tamford on Sunday (28Mar10), her publicist Shirley Herz has confirmed.
Havoc was the younger sister of Louise, aka stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, wh ose memoir served as the basis for the original stage show, about a child forced into the entertainment industry from the age of 18 months.
Havoc was married three times and had a daughter, April Hyde Kent, with her first husband, who she married at the age of 13 after meeting on the vaudeville circuit.
She went on to appear in more than 12 productions on Broadway, from Mex ican Hayride and Sadie Thompson in 1944 to her final New York stage perfo rmance in an early 1980s version of Annie.
She also stared in 26 films including Gentleman’s Agreement and My Sist er Eileen.

British supermodel SOPHIE ANDERTON has quit London and escaped to the Eng lish countryside - after she was terrorised by an obsessed fan.
The reality TV star was targeted by Paul Davis after he obtained her ce ll phone number and bombarded her with calls and text messages between Ja nuary and April last year (09).
He was found guilty of harassment at a court hearing in London last wee k (25Mar10), when he was given an 18-month conditional discharge and orde red not to contact Anderton again.
But she has been so shaken by the case, she has improved her security a rrangements, moved out of London, and set up home "in the middle of nowhe re" to avoid the attentions of obsessed fans.
Anderton tells British show GMTV, "I really cherished my freedom, like running around on the Underground (London subway) and stuff, because it’s so much easier than driving in London. But I couldn’t do that. I couldn’ t go to restaurants, I wouldn’t go to events. I found it very intimidatin g and very intrusive.
"He can’t find me because I’ve moved to the country and I live in the m iddle of nowhere. That was a lifestyle choice and I am very happy. It’s g reat for me personally. My post goes to my management office and my phone ’s not in my name. I don’t want to risk this happening again. I had to re ally take a good look at what was going on in my life. It’s made me reali se I want to be much more private."

DEMI MOORE sparked a Twitter.com war with KIM KARDASHIAN on Sunday (28Mar 10) after taking aim at the socialite for her use of the word "pimping".
The actress has taken a strong stance against child slavery and last we ek (begs22Mar10) launched a new campaign with her husband Ashton Kutcher to clamp down on the unethical practice which is rampant in earthquake-ra vaged Haiti.
She took particular offence to a ‘tweet’ written by Kardashian on Sunda y (28Mar10), when she posted a photo of herself at a charity event in Mia mi with tennis champ Serena Williams, DJ La La Vazquez and singer Kelly R owland.
The picture was accompanied by the caption: "Big pimpin w (with) @Seren ajWilliams @LaLaVazquez @Kelly_Rowland. Love u girls!" Responding to the post, Moore wrote, "Are you using the word ‘pimpin’ a s in pimping?", to which Kardashian answered, "Doesn’t everyone? LOL (lau gh out loud)." But Moore was not laughing and snapped back: "No disrespect I love a gi rls’ night out but a pimp and pimping is nothing more than a slave owner! If we want to end slavery we need to stop glorifying the ‘pimp’ culture.
" Kardashian defended herself against the criticism, insisting she meant no harm with her ‘tweet’: "Nothing wrong with dancing to Big Pimpin’ by J ay-Z in the club! Having a girls’ night out, gotta love that song!" Moore assured fans she had nothing against Kardashian - just wanted to make "a point about how we have used a word and desensitized the real mea ning".
She added, "Clearly I stirred up a s**t storm, but 2 (to) create change U have 2 be willing 2 take a risk and be willing 2 (sic) provoke thought & conversation." But the pair appeared to settle their differences by the end of the con versation, with Kardashian conceding Moore had made a "good point" with h er ‘tweets’.

Actor OWEN WILSON and his brother ANDREW have been slapped with a lawsuit by a disgruntled paparazzo who alleges he was beaten up by the siblings in an altercation in 2008.
Clint Brewer filed legal papers in a California court last week (ends26 Mar10), claiming he was "pushed in the back" by the Wedding Crashers star as he walked up a flight of stairs in Santa Monica on 5 December, 2008.
According to the court documents, a fight ensued involving both brother s, and the snapper "sustained severe bodily injuries, a portion of which are permanent".
He is seeking damages of $500,000 (=C2=A3333,335) and medical expenses totalling $3,251.10 (=C2=A32,167.40), reports TMZ.com.
The Wilsons have yet to respond to the allegations.

The executors of FARRAH FAWCETT’s estate have slammed allegations of fina ncial mismanagement, branding the accusations by producer/filmmaker CRAIG NEVIUS "outrageous".
Estate trustee Richard B. Francis sued Nevius in January (10), claiming he "sensationalised" the Charlie’s Angels star’s story in "amateurish" f ootage he produced for a documentary about her illness.
In the legal papers, Nevius is accused of seeking "misplaced revenge" w hen Fawcett rejected his work, by revealing private and personal informat ion about the actress, giving out footage without her consent and embezzl ing cash from the trust she set up for the film.
Nevius denied the claims, insisting he enjoyed a cordial working relati onship with Fawcett before her death last June (09) after a battle with a nal cancer.
He recently filed his response to Francis’ lawsuit, alleging the legal action itself is a misuse of Fawcett’s funds and accusing executors of wi thholding cash from the tragic star’s beneficiaries, including her elderl y father.
The suit goes on to takes aim at Fawcett’s longtime partner Ryan O’Neal and the actress’ best friend Alana Stewart, who filmed the footage for F arrah’s Story, the show which documented her losing her fight against the disease.
Nevius alleges Stewart took advantage of her relationship with Fawcett to boost sales of her book about life with the star.
But attorneys for Fawcett’s estate have slammed Nevius’ claims.
Howard Weitzman, who also represents O’Neal, Stewart and Francis, tells the Associated Press: "I’ve read Mr. Nevius’ response to our complaint w hich I think contains spurious and outrageous allegations. I’m confident the truth will all come out during the course of the litigation." (MT/WNW

Rapper SNOOP DOGG has hailed the U.K. immigration officials who helped to overturn his visa ban and publicly thanked them on U.S. TV.
The Beautiful hitmaker, real name Calvin Broadus, incurred the wrath of border officials in 2006 when he was arrested following a fracas at Lond on’s Heathrow Airport.
He was denied entry into the country in 2007 when authorities labelled him a threat, citing his prior drug and firearms offences.
Snoop challenged the decision in court and it was lifted in 2008, only for government representatives to take the case to the Court of Appeal, w here it was decided the judge who reversed the ruling may have "misinterp reted the test of exclusion".
But the hip-hop star refused to back down and his case was heard at a U ..K. Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in February (10), where his lawyers s tressed the rapper’s charity and community work as a high school football coach.
The appeal worked and the ban was lifted for good - and Snoop is gratef ul to the two senior immigration judges who ruled against border authorit ies.
He tells U.S. newsman Larry King, "As we speak I’ve been reinstated and I’m on my way back to the U.K. so I wanna give a shout out to all the be autiful people who allowed me to come back." The rapper plans to return to Britain in May (10) as part of his upcomi ng European tour.

Rap superstar SNOOP DOGG has never performed sober - he insists on taking to the stage only when he’s under the influence of marijuana.
The Drop It Like It’s Hot star has long been an advocate for the legali sation of the drug and has a prescription for medical marijuana.
And he admits he is never without cannabis when he hits the stage.
He tells talk show host Larry King, "I’m under the influence of medical marijuana. I’ve never performed without it."

British singer CHERYL COLE is to release a book of personal photographs d ocumenting the history of her life so far.
The Girls Aloud star has announced she will be releasing the tome, show ing her changing image and detailing significant moments of her life thro ugh previously unseen pictures.
Cole, who has recently separated from her soccer star husband Ashley, p lans to release the book through Transworld publishers.
She says, "I think looking at pictures is a bit like listening to music - it reminds you of what was happening and how you were feeling at certa in times in your life.
"Sometimes I look at old pictures and I can’t believe that was me. I th ink we all do that. I went through a phase of being a bit tomboyish when I loved trainers and Timberland boots and baggy trousers. I had pink stre aks in my hair at one point but I was experimenting and at the time I lik ed it.
"I can look at photos and straight away they’ll bring back loads of mem ories. That’s really why I wanted to do this book, so I could choose pict ures that mean something to me and tell the stories that go with them." The book is due for release on 30 September (10).

German jazz musician PETER HERBOLZHEIMER has died at the age of 74 after battling a long illness.
The trombonist and big band leader passed away in his hometown of Colog ne on Saturday (27Mar10), confirms Peter Ortmann, head of the German Musi c Council.
Romanian-born Herbolzheimer began his career in 1951 in Germany, before going on to work with U.S. artists including Al Jarreau and Dizzy Gilles pie.
In 1987, he became the musical director of Germany’s national youth jaz z orchestra, the BundesJazzOrchester, a position he held until 2006. (MT/

TOM HANKS is using his Twitter.com page to give fans a sneak peak into hi s next movie LARRY CROWNE - he’s posted a photograph showing the actors h e’s cast in the lead roles.
The Big star has been hard at work on the comedy, which he will star in and direct, and has sneaked several pictures of the set to his virtual f ollowers on the social networking site.
Now he’s given away his biggest clue yet by posting a snap of his offic e’s "Casting Wall", which features his own headshot next to those of Geor ge Takei, Taraji P. Henson and his former Charlie Wilson’s War co-star Ju lia Roberts.
He’s also recruited Wilmer Valderrama, funnyman Cedric the Entertainer, Bryan Cranston and Holmes Osborne for the project, which is due to begin shooting in April (10).
Hanks will star in the film’s eponymous role as a middle-aged man who i s forced to find a new career.

British actress JOANNA LUMLEY has blasted critics of her campaign to help veteran Gurkha soldiers - insisting her involvement was not a publicity stunt.
The former Bond girl was victorious last year (09) when officials overt urned a previous ruling and agreed to give 36,000 Nepalese soldiers and t heir families the right to live in the U.K.
Britain’s defence minister Kevan Jones criticised the actress earlier t his month (Mar10), claiming there had been a "deathly silence" from her e ver since - but he issued an apology to Lumley on Monday (29Mar10), insis ting he had not intended to cause offence.
Now Lumley has blasted her critics for telling "lies" about her involve ment in the campaign, and for suggesting she was used for publicity purpo ses.
She says, "Over the past month or so, articles have been appearing whic h must have put doubt in the hearts of those who supported the Gurkhas Ju stice campaign last year, and the wonderful policy which was won for Gurk ha veterans to be allowed the right to come and settle in this country.
"Today, what we want to do is to call on the Prime Minister to affirm t hat the policy is still one that he completely supports… and also for u s to say to the people of this country: What you did was to back a just c ause and that we have not stopped working solidly for the Gurkhas, even t hough we’ve been doing it in quiet, as we promised to the Prime Minister last year.
"It has been suggested that I was somehow parachuted in, took the headl ines, and ran. I consider that a slur. The people who made these accusati ons must know them to be untrue."
