KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND STAR CALLS SEX CLAIMS ‘UNFOUNDED’
A representative for KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND co-founder RICHARD R. FINCH is adamant the star will be "vindicated" after he was arrested and charg ed over allegations he had sexual relations with a teenage boy.
The Grammy-winning producer/musician, who played bass with the famous f unk band, was detained by police in Ohio on Tuesday (23Mar10) after a 17 year old youth told police he allegedly had sexual contact with the star at his home in Newark.
The boy is said to have made the allegation last week (18Mar10) and cop s brought the 56 year old in for questioning on Tuesday.
He has been charged with a fourth-degree felony of gross sexual imposit ion and is being held on a $250,000 (=C2=A3166,667) bond, according to lo cal newspaper the Newark Advocate.
Licking County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Chris Slayman, says, "(The all eged victim) had heard of his successful career and met him through music contacts." Finch has reportedly been living in Newark, Ohio for four years, mentor ing young music students.
A representative for the star is adamant the allegations are "unfounded ".
A statement posted on Finch’s website reads, "We appreciate your contac t, but at this time, we have no comment. We will let due process happen t hrough the legal system and through that, we are sure Mr. Finch will be v indicated from (sic) these unfounded allegations." (LR/WNWA&WNWC&WNWCXF/Z
