COOPER DROPS OUT OF WITHERSPOON MOVIE

BRADLEY COOPER has scrapped plans to romance REESE WITHERSPOON on the big= screen - he’s dropped out of spy comedy THIS MEANS WAR to focus on THE H= ANGOVER sequel.
The actor was due to team up with Witherspoon for the new movie, which = sees two undercover agents fall in love with the same woman.
Terminator Salvation director McG is reportedly in negotiations to take= charge of the picture, while production is slated to begin in July (10).
But Witherspoon will now be looking for a new leading man after Cooper = pulled out of the project citing scheduling conflicts, according to EW.co= m.
Bosses at the website report Cooper will instead spend his time working= on a follow-up to his successful Las Vegas comedy The Hangover, which is= slated to begin filming later this year (10).

MINOGUE FILMING FASHION SHOW

DANNII MINOGUE has explained the camera crews trailing her in recent week= s - her upcoming reality series is about her new fashion range.
The pregnant pop star was earlier this month (Feb10) forced to deny rum= ours she’s filming a programme about the birth of her first child with ru= gby player boyfriend Kris Smith.
Now she’s opened up about her TV plans, admitting her next project will= document the creation of her first fashion venture.
In a post on her official Facebook page, Minogue explains, "I am not ma= king a reality show with Kris about having a baby. I have created a capsu= le clothing collection with my best mate, Tabitha, called Project D. We h= ave been filming the process of creating the label from idea right throug= h to delivery in store. This is my first leap in to the U.K. fashion scen= e and I am putting everything on the line to make this something beautifu= l that women love."

WHITE GIVES ELSON A MUSIC BOOST

She recently began work on her debut record and White has been directin= g the studio sessions in Nashville, Tennessee.

ADKINS LANDS AWARD FOR CHARITY WORK

Country singer TRACE ADKINS was honoured for his humanitarian work at a c= eremony in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (24Feb10).
The Chrome singer has performed for U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan= and is an active supporter of several good causes, including the Wounded= Warrior Project.
And his tireless charity work was recognised at the Country Radio Semin= ar bash, when officials at the Country Radio Broadcasters organisation na= med him the artist humanitarian of the year.

GAGA GETS TESTED FOR HIV

LADY GAGA underwent an HIV test during a break on her Monster Ball Tour -= and has urged her fans to look after their sexual health.
The Poker Face hitmaker visited a gynaecologist in New York on her day = off, insisting her busy schedule often prevents her from having screening= s.
Gaga tells MarieClaire.com, "I had an HIV test two days ago - and it’s = not because I’m taking off my clothes every night with a different man. W= hen I’m on the road, I forget about taking care of my body.
"I don’t go to the doctor as regularly as if I were in one place all th= e time. So I woke up and thought, ‘Oh, I’m home in New York. I’m going to= see my gyno and I’m getting an HIV test.’" And she’s stressing the importance of regular check-ups to her legions = of devotees: "You put that condom in your purse and save your own f**king= life."

BROWN DEFENDS WOODS

CHRIS BROWN has urged the American public to forgive TIGER WOODS for his = infidelities, because the golfer "deserves a second chance".
Woods was hit with a string of allegations last year (09) that he cheat= ed on wife Elin Nordegren with several mistresses.
The shamed sports star apologised for his behaviour at a press conferen= ce earlier this month (Feb10), admitting: "I am deeply sorry for my irres= ponsible and selfish behaviour I engaged in." And now Brown, who was embroiled in his own personal scandal after he w= as convicted of attacking girlfriend Rihanna last year (09), has called o= n the U.S. public to overlook Wood’s affairs - and concentrate on his gol= fing skills.
He tells America’s Mojo in the Morning radio show, "I think it’s cool (= that Woods apologised). I think people always deserve a second chance. I = know my fans gave me a second chance.
"Whatever his personal life is, and this goes for me and him, his perso= nal life is his personal life. Nobody has the right to place judgment on = anybody else’s personal life if they’re not directly involved with them.

GRIMES WANTS TO ENROL IN FASHION SCHOOL

90210 star SHENAE GRIMES is considering a career break so she can go back= to school to study fashion design.
The 20-year-old Canadian actress is looking into enrolling at an Americ= an university to learn more about the industry.
She tells OKMagazine.com, "I would love to go to college if I have the = chance. I would really love to. I would love to go ideally to a school in= New York.
"The programs are more liberal in America and you don’t have to make up= your mind right away so I can test out fashion marketing, design, and co= mmunications. I can do it all and I don’t have to narrow it down just yet= .." And Grimes would love to eventually use that education to start her own= clothing line: "I have toyed with that idea for a while… I want to be = very slow about it because I am not someone who likes to put my face on a= nything just for the sake of it. I want to learn more about fashion and t= he craft behind design before I approach it."

PORTMAN IN TALKS FOR BIG SCREEN WEDDING

Actress NATALIE PORTMAN will suffer a nervous breakdown before she walks = down the aisle - in a new comedy film about a runaway bride.
Portman is in talks to star in Best Buds, about a woman who embarks on = a California road trip on the eve of her wedding - and relies on the powe= rs of marijuana and her pals to soothe her woes.
According to Daily Variety, Portman will produce the film with Vendome = Pictures’ CEO Philippe Rousselet. The pair is looking for a filmmaker to = direct.
A shooting schedule has not yet been released.

WINFREY TREATS ALLEY TO FOXX CALL

KIRSTIE ALLEY received a surprise phone call from her Hollywood crush dur= ing an upcoming appearance on THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW - the media mogul ar= ranged for JAMIE FOXX to woo her via video-link.
Alley revealed her feelings for the Ray star during a 2009 interview wi= th People magazine, insisting she dreams of a "booty call" from the hands= ome actor.
And Winfrey made Alley’s dreams come true in an upcoming episode of her= talk show - by hooking the pair up via video phone.
When Winfrey asked Alley if she still wanted a "booty call" from Foxx, = she replied, "You know, me and about three million other women in the Uni= ted States." To which the host replied, "Well, you know, that’s really great because= we have a special relationship, but I don’t want a booty call." TV PRODUCER MITCHELL DIES

American television writer, producer and novelist JUDITH MITCHELL has die= d, aged 77.
Mitchell lost her battle with cancer on 10 February (10). No further de= tails have been released about her death.
The Louisiana-born novelist boasted a string of literary credits includ= ing A Wilderness of Monkeys, Love Is Not a Safe Country and The Covenant.
She also wrote and executive produced a string of U.S. TV shows and mov= ies, including 1995 TV movie Young at Heart, Desperate for Love, in 1989,= and Lies of the Heart: The Story of Laurie Kellogg, in 1994.
She is survived by her husband, Jeremy Tarcher, a daughter and two sons= ..

ANIMATOR LARRIVA DIES

Veteran animator RUDY LARRIVA, who illustrated classics such as LOONEY TU= NES and MR. MAGOO, has died.
Larriva passed away on 19 February (10) in Irvine, California. He was 9= 4.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Larriva began his animation career working on t= he 1939 Warner Bros. film Dog Gone Modern before landing jobs on cartoons= including Robin Hoodlum, Gerald McBoing Boing and Fangface.
He later worked as a director for small screen cartoons, helming Alvin = and the Chipmunks and The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show.
Larriva is also noted for directing the animation for the opening credi= ts of the Twilight Zone in 1959-1960.
He is survived by a son, three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter,= reports Variety.com.

AVATAR LEADS EMPIRE AWARDS NOMINATIONS

JAMES CAMERON’s AVATAR is tipped to continue its winning streak at the up= coming Empire magazine film awards, after landing five top nominations.
The 3D blockbuster received nods in the Best Film and Best Sci-Fi/Fanta= sy categories, while Cameron is in the running for the Best Director priz= e. The movie’s stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are each tipped in t= he Best Actor/Actress category.
Fighting it out with Worthington are Sir Michael Caine (Harry Brown), C= hristoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Sag= a: New Moon) and Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes).
Saldana is up against Anne-Marie Duff (Nowhere Boy), Carey Mulligan (An= Education), Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria) and Melanie Laurent (Inglou= rious Basterds).
Cameron will go head-to-head with ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Loc= ker) in the Best Director list, as well as Neil Blomkamp (District 9), JJ= Abrams (Star Trek) and Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds).
The former couple’s movies are also facing each other in the Best Film = category; they’ll fight it out with Star Trek, District 9 and Inglourious= Basterds.
The awards will take place in London on 28 March (10).

HURT LOCKER PRODUCER APOLOGISES FOR ACADEMY RULE BREAK

A producer behind Oscar-nominated movie THE HURT LOCKER has apologised fo= r a leaked email in which he urged colleagues to campaign for votes ahead= of the upcoming Academy Awards.
Nicolas Chartier sent out a message to industry colleagues on Friday (1= 9Feb10) urging Academy members to vote for the gritty war movie in the Be= st Picture category before the ballot closes on 2 March (10).
He also appeared to criticise James Cameron’s multi-million dollar bloc= kbuster Avatar, which will compete for the coveted trophy at the ceremony= on 7 March (10).
In the email, obtained by the Los Angeles Times, he wrote, "I hope you = liked Hurt Locker and if you did and want us to win, please tell your fri= ends who vote for the Oscars, if everyone tells one or two of their frien= ds, we will win and not a $500 million film, we need independent movies t= o win." The move appears to break the rules set by bosses at Academy of Motion = Picture Arts and Sciences, which restrict campaigning to garner votes - = and Chartier has taken to his email again to apologise.
The second note reads, "My email to you was out of line and not in the = spirit of the celebration of cinema that this acknowledgement is. I was e= ven more wrong, both personally and professionally, to ask for your help = in encouraging others to vote for the film and to comment on another movi= e. As passionate as I am about the film we made, this was an extremely in= appropriate email to send, and something that the Academy strongly disapp= roves of in the rules. RIHANNA OPENS UP ABOUT BROWN SONG

RIHANNA has explained the song she wrote about her former lover CHRIS BRO= WN, insisting the lyrics detail everything she "didn’t say for the past e= ight months".

THURMAN CONTRACT PUBLISHED IN ELOISE DISPUTE

UMA THURMAN’s contract for new movie ELOISE IN PARIS has been made public= in an ongoing legal dispute over the film.
Production on the picture, which also stars Pierce Brosnan and is based= on the classic 1950s children’s book by Kay Thompson, was due to begin i= n February (10).
But filming has reportedly been suspended as part of a breach of contra= ct dispute brought by Thurman’s Karuna Dream, Inc company.
Details of the litigation have not been made public, but a copy of Thur= man’s contract has been filed in connection with the lawsuit, and obtaine= d by TheSmokingGun.com.
The paperwork reveals Thurman’s $4.5 million (=C2=A32.8 million) salary= , as well as a list of her demands including first class air travel, luxu= ry dressing room, a minimum "three-bedroom hotel suite" and three cell ph= ones to use for the duration of the production.
The contract states that no other cast member should be given "more fav= ourable dressing facilities" and Thurman should be allowed to purchase co= stumes and wigs from the movie at a 50 per cent reduction on cost price.
The agreement also includes a clause banning movie bosses from using Th= urman’s "name or likeness" in merchandising deals for products including = "tobacco, weapons, religious items, personal hygiene products, intimate a= pparel, porn, gambling, pet food and stomach or rectal medications." (LR/=

MORE CONCERT WOES FOR HOUSTON

WHITNEY HOUSTON has suffered another setback in her ongoing tour of Austr= alia - fans allegedly walked out of her show in Sydney on Wednesday night= (24Feb10) after the singer’s voice began to fail.
The I Will Always Love You hitmaker was previously accused of putting o= n a lacklustre performance in Brisbane on Monday (22Feb10), reportedly co= ughing through her set and taking breaks to catch her breath.
Promoters behind the concert defended Houston’s performance, and brushe= d off fears the star is in poor health.
But concerns for the singer were raised again on Wednesday following he= r show at the Acer Arena.
Reporters at local newspaper the Sydney Daily Telegraph claim the first= 50 minutes of the concert ran smoothly, but the show began to deteriorat= e after a 13 minute break halfway through, with fans allegedly storming o= ut of the gig as Houston began to struggle with her set.
One fan, Shane Norquay, tells the paper, "Some of it’s been beautiful a= nd some it is just horrible. It feels like she’s trying to be herself but= it’s not working." Bernadette Latta, whose son bought her the tickets as a Christmas gift,= adds, "It’s terrible. I have never walked out before a concert finished = but that was just terrible. I’ll be suggesting my son tries to get a refu= nd."

MADONNA’S LUZ CRIES IN CLUB CLASH

MADONNA’s lover JESUS LUZ was forced to stop his DJ set in Brazil on Sund= ay (21Feb10) after a rowdy clubgoer threw a drink in his face.
The underwear model has been trying to carve out a career as a music mi= xer and was showing off his skills at a Carnival party in Rio de Janeiro = when the reveller hurled beer at him.
Brazilian magazine iG Gente claims the guest told the Material Girl’s 2= 3-year-old boyfriend to "get out", prompting Luz to storm off into a corn= er, where he reportedly broke down in tears.
Luz later returned to the decks to finish the gig after allegedly recru= iting four bodyguards to protect him.
The news follows reports Luz’s pop star girlfriend has helped him land = a record deal with Warner Bros.
