NE-YO’S CONCERT HICCUPS

R&B singer NE-YO struggled to sing during a Valentine’s Day (14Feb10) con= cert in London - he was silenced by a bout of hiccups.
The Miss Independent hitmaker was performing at the British capital’s W= embley Arena on Sunday when his suffering became too much to handle.
He was forced to apologise to fans, before holding out his microphone f= or the audience to continue the song while he recovered.
Eighties pop star Sinitta, who was watching the show, took to her Twitt= er.com blog, writing, "Ne-Yo has had the hiccups for the whole show so fa= r!!"

RASCAL & WELCH’S EXPENSIVE BRITS PERFORMANCE

MORRISSEY JOINS LATINO CENSUS CAMPAIGN

British rocker MORRISSEY has joined a campaign to encourage Latin America= ns to participate in the country’s 2010 census.
The former The Smiths frontman follows in the footsteps of rappers Mos = Def and Pitbull, as well as Mexican musical duo Rodrigo y Gabriela, who h= ave all contributed songs to the Be Counted: Represent! drive.
The campaign aims to encourage more Latinos to fill out the 2010 U.S. C= ensus form, and will give away a free download of the album to anyone who= pledges to take part in the poll.

MADDEN & RICHIE HAVE BEEN ENGAGED ‘FOR A WHILE’

JOEL MADDEN has dismissed rumours he proposed to his longtime girlfriend = NICOLE RICHIE on Valentine’s Day (14Feb10), insisting they have "been eng= aged for a while".
The happy news broke this week (beg15Feb10) after the socialite was spo= tted showing off her new ring while dining out with the rocker in New Yor= k on Monday night (15Feb10).
Online gossips suggested the Good Charlotte star popped the question on= the romantic holiday, but Madden is adamant the wedding plans were put i= nto action much earlier.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, Madden writes, "Yep. I’m engaged. Ve= ry happy. Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so you’re all kind of late = on that. But, thanks for the hoopla all the same." The post was subsequently removed from Madden’s page, according to ETOn= line.com.
The couple has two children together, Harlow, two, and Sparrow, five mo= nths.

KNIFE DRAMA AT GUNS N’ ROSES SHOW

Former SKID ROW rocker SEBASTIAN BACH was hailed a hero at a GUNS N’ ROSE= S gig on Sunday (14Feb10) - after he stopped a knife-wielding man from ap= proaching his close friend AXL ROSE.
Bach, along with a host of stars including Mickey Rourke and Ryan Phill= ippe, was at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York for an exclusive show by= the band.
But the rocker was stunned to see a man enter the bar carrying a blade = and immediately confronted him, fearing he would try to attack one of the= band or guests.
Security then evicted the troublemaker, according to New York Post’s go= ssip column PageSix.
A source tells the publication, "The man walked in while Guns N’ Roses = was onstage and pulled out a knife and flicked the blade out.
"Sebastian, who was standing on a banquette said: ‘Nobody is getting an= ywhere near my man Axl Rose with a knife,’ and went after him. Security t= hen immediately threw him out.
"The man appeared to be drunk. It was dealt with so quickly that none o= f the other guests or the band were aware of it."

LLOYD WEBBER CONTEMPLATED LIFE IN SUN AFTER CANCER BATTLE

SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER considered swapping his hectic work schedule in B= ritain for an easy life in the sun after beating cancer.
The Cats creator was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year (09), und= ergoing an operation and treatment before doctors confirmed that he had b= eat the disease in early 2010.
And Webber admits the experience left him toying with the idea of movin= g to Spain - before he realised he needed to keep working to remain fulfi= lled.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "I’ve never been a sort of person who ca= n sit in a deckchair, but the events of the last few months have made me = wonder. Sometimes I think, ‘Gosh, maybe now, with everything that has hap= pened, maybe it is time to go and live in Majorca or whatever’, because I= do have a lovely house there. Then there is the realisation that there a= re all these things I haven’t done, and I would like to do before I die.
"Yet part of me doesn’t want all that. The only place I truly want to b= e is in the rehearsal room. When I am there, with all my kids - because I= think of the young performers as my kids - and friends and everything, f= or me it is my life."

PAGE’S HUSBAND RECOVERING AFTER CAR ACCIDENT

LOVE ACTUALLY star JOANNA PAGE is caring for her actor husband after he w= as hit by a car in London.
James Thornton, who appears in longrunning British soap opera Emmerdale= , and his wife were shopping in the U.K. capital last week (ends14Feb10) = when he was struck by a car.
The 34 year old fractured his knee and suffered further injuries to his= legs in the accident - and has scrapped all his immediate working commit= ments on the show.
An Emmerdale spokeswoman says "We can confirm that James was hit by a c= ar last week, he has a fractured knee and is recovering at home." A source tells Britain’s Daily Star, "He was having a few days off in L= ondon with Jo and they’d been out for dinner when he was hit by the car. = Joanna was in a right state and James was in absolute agony. He knows he = was lucky."

TOMLIN TO PRODUCE OFF-BROADWAY SHOW

The Desperate Housewives star is teaming up with her longterm partner J= ane Wagner to bring one-man production My Trip Down The Pink Carpet to th= e off-Broadway stage. The show was written by Will & Grace’s Leslie Jorda= n.
Tomlin joins a host of stars lending their names to productions - Sir E= lton John and his partner David Furnish are currently involved in Broadwa= y’s Next Fall, while Jay-Z has collaborated with Will Smith and Jada Pink= ett Smith to co-produce musical show Fela! LERMAN WAS BEATEN UP IN NEW MOVIE

Teenage actor LOGAN LERMAN was left bruised and battered during filming o= f the big screen adaptation of the PERCY JACKSON children’s books - becau= se his fight scenes were too realistic.
Lerman plays the lead in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning T= hief, about a teenage boy who discovers he’s descended from a Greek sea g= od.
And the 18 year old was so determined to make his role as realistic as = possible, he performed his own fight scenes and even shot dangerous under= water segments.
He says, "We were constantly learning a different fight scene or skill = for the next action sequence. I was constantly bruised and beaten. You ki= nd of just flow with it. It was something I wanted to do. It always looks= better on camera when you are actually beating yourself up.
"I’d be spending all day underwater doing the scene, for a couple of mi= nutes at a time. We’d go up, get some air, go back down and be holding yo= urself at the bottom while guys with scuba tanks would be feeding you air= .. We did a lot of dangerous stuff but that was probably the most nerve wr= acking."

HOPKINS’ FATHER STOPPED SCHOOL BEATINGS WITH THREATS

SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS’ father once threatened to punch the principal of his= son’s school - after the teacher "broke" the star’s ear.
The Oscar-winning actor admits he wasn’t a model student growing up, pr= eferring to immerse himself in the arts.
He became a target for tutors who often punished him for his lacklustre= approach to education, and Hopkins’ father stepped in to sort the situat= ion after the school’s headteacher allegedly attacked him.
The star says, "I was called Dumbo, like the elephant, as a child becau= se I couldn’t understand things at school. The teachers would slap me abo= ut the head. But that was all part and parcel of school at the time. I wa= s hauled before the headmaster (principal), who said there was something = wrong with me. My teacher twisted my ear until it broke… because I didn= ‘t understand arithmetic.
"I told my father and he took me to see this teacher and said, ‘If you = bl**dy hit my son again, if you lay a finger on my boy, I’ll pulverise yo= u. I’ll swing for you.’ My father was a pretty hot-tempered guy, but I’d = never heard him swear before."

BULLOCK ‘SCARED’ OF LIFE AFTER THE OSCARS

WHITE ‘AMAZED’ BY SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE HOSTING CAMPAIGN

GOLDEN GIRLS legend BETTY WHITE is surprised fans have launched an online= campaign to land her a job on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - because she thought = the public would be sick of seeing her on TV.
Over 330,000 members of social networking website Facebook.com have sig= ned a petition to urge Saturday Night Live bosses to let White act as a c= elebrity host on the longrunning sketch show.
The campaign follows the 88 year old’s hit Super Bowl ad for Snickers, = which showed her being tackled to the ground during a game of American Fo= otball.
And the actress is overwhelmed so many people are backing her for a rol= e on the show, as she thought people would "be throwing rocks instead".
