SHYNE ‘INKS NEW DEAL WITH DEF JAM’

Recently-freed rapper SHYNE is rebuilding his career - he’s reportedly si= gned a seven-figure deal with Def Jam records.
The hip-hop star is back in the studio for the first time in a decade a= fter spending eight-years behind bars in a New York jail for his part in = a 1999 nightclub shooting. He was deported back to his native Belize foll= owing his release.
And after a bidding war between several hip-hop heavyweights, Def Jam R= ecordings has inked a new deal with the star, reports AllHipHop.com.
Shyne previously released his 2004 album, Godfather: Buried Alive, thro= ugh Def Jam while incarcerated, but reportedly fell out with boss LA Reid= over the record’s promotion.
The rapper was alleged to have been banned from entering the U.K. for t= ravelling with the wrong travel documents earlier this month (Feb10) afte= r flying into London to record new material.

LAMBERT LASHES OUT AT CHATTY CONCERT-GOER

Singer ADAM LAMBERT singled out a fan during a secret gig in New York on = Monday (15Feb10) - to berate her for chatting on her cell phone.
The former American Idol runner-up was performing at the Big Apple’s PC= Richard & Son Theater, when he spotted a front-row fan talking on her ce= ll.

HOLLOWAY: ‘I DON’T WANT TO BE HANDED NEW JOBS’

MONK INJURES FOOT IN CAR CRASH

Australian actress SOPHIE MONK is using a wheelchair after injuring her f= oot in a car crash at the weekend (13/14Feb10) - almost a year after her = last road collision.
The blonde star was snapped being pushed in a wheelchair with her left = foot bandaged after smashing her Toyota Prius in Los Angeles, according t= o Aussie website Popsugar.com.

JUDGE REFUSES TO DISMISS BEATTY’S DICK TRACY LAWSUIT

A federal judge has given the green light for WARREN BEATTY’s legal battl= e over the rights to DICK TRACY to continue after refusing to dismiss the= star’s suit against the franchise’s former owner.
In 2006, bosses at Tribune Media Services, a unit of bankrupt newspaper= publisher Tribune, took legal action against Beatty, alleging he "wrongl= y claims" to have exclusive motion picture and television rights to the p= olice detective brand - despite buying the broadcast rights in 1985.
The company claimed that as Beatty had not made any "productive use" of= the brand, the rights should be handed back to Tribune if he failed to b= egin production on a new Tracy project within two years. Although the act= or/director intended to follow up his 1990 film - which starred Madonna a= nd Robert De Niro - with a TV special, the production never came to fruit= ion.
In November (09), a judge gave the actor permission to press forward wi= th legal action. Lawyers for Tribune demanded that the case be thrown out= , while Beatty asked for the company to be penalised for seeking a dismis= sal.
However, U.S. District Court Judge Dean D. Pregerson decided last week = (ends14Feb10) that the case should go ahead, ignoring the pleas of both p= arties. He said, "There is a substantial controversy between the parties = warranting the issuance of a declaratory judgment".

SIMPSON WOULD NEVER GO NAKED FOR MOVIE ROLE

Singer/actress JESSICA SIMPSON has vowed never to bare all onscreen - eve= n if it means missing out on an Academy Award.

R&B star ASHANTI has teamed up with the producers of UGLY BETTY and THE O= FFICE to create a new reality TV contest.
The singer/actress has just signed a deal with the brains behind Reveil= le Productions to produce and host her own version of American Idol.

COHEN, FOSTER AND EARTH, WIND & FIRE UP FOR HALL OF FAME HONOUR

LEONARD COHEN and producer/composer DAVID FOSTER will be inducted into th= e Songwriters Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2010.
The 75-year-old Bird On A Wire singer has endured a difficult few month= s after collapsing onstage in Spain last year (09) and postponing a strin= g of European concerts earlier this month (Feb10) to recover from a sport= s-related injury, but he will be saluted by the prestigious organisation = this summer, when he joins Foster and Earth, Wind & Fire members Maurice = White, Philip Bailey and Verdine White among the songwriting inductees.
Jackie DeShannon, Johnny Mandel, Larry Dunn and Al McKay will also be h= onoured at the gala.
Hall of Fame chairman Hal David says, "Our 2010 inductees are truly rep= resentational of the heart and soul of the world’s popular music soundtra= ck.

BEYONCE’S DAD ORDERED TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT

BEYONCE’s music mogul father has been ordered to pay $8,200 (=C2=A35,125)= -a-month in child support for his alleged lovechild.
Alexsandra Wright claims Mathew Knowles is the father of her two-week-o= ld son, Nixon, and her lawyer was in court in Los Angeles on Tuesday (16F= eb10) asking for financial support.
However, the support might be temporary - Knowles will take a DNA test = on 1 March (10) to determine paternity.
In the meantime, he has been told to pay up and the order has been back= dated to the beginning of February (10). Knowles must also pay all of Wri= ght’s uninsured medical costs, according to TMZ.com.
The mother claims her son was conceived during an 18-month affair with = Knowles.
The music manager has yet to confirm he’s the child’s father, but he ga= ve Wright $10,000 (=C2=A36,250) in January (10) to cover her immediate me= dical costs.

MY NAME IS KHAN BREAKS U.K. BOX OFFICE RECORD

Indian movie hunk SHAH RUKH KHAN’s new movie MY NAME IS KHAN has become t= he most successful Bollywood film in British box office history.
Indian cinemas screening the movie became targets for Hindu extremists = over the weekend (12-14Feb10) after Khan, a cricket club owner, made comm= ents about the Indian cricket league’s snub of Pakistani cricketers.
He told reporters that he was disappointed Pakistani players would not = be able to take part in the Indian Premier League 3 series next month (Ma= r10), upsetting some Hindu fundamentalists, who tore down posters, stoned= cinemas showing the film, and called for a widespread boycott of the fil= m.
However, the uproar has failed to impact the film’s success in Britain = - it has shot to number six in the U.K.’s box office countdown, making My= Name is Khan the highest grossing Bollywood film opening ever in the U.K= ..
The film garnered $1.4 million (=C2=A3936,000) over its opening weekend= (12-14Feb10).
