SADE REJECTS DRAKE COLLABORATION

Reclusive soul great SADE has dashed rapper DRAKE’s hopes of a collaborat= ion because she fears she will disappoint fans if she steps out of her "s= afety zone".
Drake has been actively pursing a rare duet with the Smooth Operator si= nger since last year (09), when he voiced his desire to work with her.
He told WENN, "There are conversations going on (between the two star’s= camps). I haven’t spoken to her personally yet but my management is talk= ing to hers and it’s looking more yes than no right now, so I’m hoping we= can get it done." Sade, who had been absent from the spotlight for several years, made he= r chart comeback this week (17Feb10) when her first release in 10 years, = Soldier of Love, debuted atop the U.S. albums chart.
Sade admits she’s only heard about Drake’s duet plans from the press, b= ut she is hesitant to agree to a project together because she has never w= orked with another artist in her 30 years in the music industry.
She says, "I don’t think they have contacted me. I’ve never collaborate= d because I’ve always avoided working outside of my safety zone. I can be= exactly who I am and can fail or succeed within the moment.

HARING ARTWORK RETURNED

A celebrity photo tribute to famed artist KEITH HARING in Tokyo, Japan is= set to go ahead as planned following the return of a set of prints that = had mysteriously vanished from a New York party.
Twenty four murals and photographs designed by Sex and the City stylist= Patricia Field and shot by fashion photographer Dah Len were put on disp= lay for the Keith Haring by House of Field exhibit at Manhattan’s Hudson = Hotel last week (11Feb10).
The images, which featured friends of the late artist, including DJ and= guitarist Mark Ronson and 1970s supermodel Pat Cleveland, mysteriously w= ent missing - throwing another planned exhibit in Tokyo into jeopardy.
Event producer Sandra Shafer said, "We are totally shocked and devastat= ed they have gone, as they were supposed to go on to a Keith Haring exhib= ition in Tokyo. We have asked the hotel to explain to us how they could h= ave gone missing. The problem is, there are no security cameras. We are h= oping whoever took them will have a change of heart and give them back." And organisers have been given renewed hope after recovering three of t= he prints that had gone missing.
Shafer tells the New York Post, "A girl called today (17Feb10) and will= be returning three prints. She did not realise she could not take them. = Keith Haring always wanted the public to ‘own’ his artwork, and I guess n= ow they really do own them." Haring, who was known for his graffiti-inspired works, died of an AIDS-= related illness on 16 February, 1990.

GOLDBERG RULES OUT MARRIAGE

WHOOPI GOLDBERG has vowed never to wed again, insisting she is "not meant= to be married".
The comedienne has been married three times - her first marriage to dru= g counsellor Alvin Martin ended in 1979; she divorced cinematographer Dav= id Claessen in 1988, and she was married to actor Lyle Trachtenberg for o= ne year before they split in 1995.
The failed unions have prompted the Ghost actress to swear off marriage= for good, and she’s asked her friends to stop her if she ever announces = plans to wed for a fourth time - because she’s convinced it will be doome= d.
She says, "If you ever hear of me walking down anybody’s aisle again, I= want you to stick your leg out and trip me. Some people are not meant to= be married and I am not meant to. I’m sure it is wonderful for lots of p= eople."

LANGELLA NOT ENGAGED TO WALTERS

Revered U.S. TV personality BARBARA WALTERS has laughed off reports she i= s set to wed actor FRANK LANGELLA, insisting the stars are just old frien= ds.
The pair sparked speculation of a romance last year (09), after they we= re spotted together in Washington, D.C. for the Kennedy Center Honors.
Walters, 80, denied claims their relationship is more than platonic but= rumours have continued to resurface.
Earlier this week (begs15Feb10), the National Enquirer reported Langell= a had moved into Walters’ New York apartment and was planning to wed the = TV host this summer (10).
But Walters has shot down the claims, insisting Langella is nothing mor= e than a "friend".
Addressing the tabloid reports on her U.S. chat show The View on Thursd= ay (18Feb10), she laughed, "According to the National Enquirer, Frank Lan= gella is now living in my apartment. He’s about six foot, four (inches) a= nd I don’t know where he’s hiding.
"(According to reports) We’re getting married this summer and (The View= co-host) Whoopi Goldberg, who is a friend of Mr. Langella - you gave me = your blessings. This is so ridiculous… if he’s in my apartment, I don’t= know where." Goldberg previously dated Langella after meeting on the set of Eddie in= 1996 and they lived together until 2001.

UP IN THE AIR AUTHOR TAKES AIM AT OSCARS BOSSES

The novelist whose story inspired JASON REITMAN’s Oscar-nominated movie U= P IN THE AIR has taken aim at Academy Award bosses for failing to invite = him to next month’s (Mar10) ceremony.
Reitman and his writing partner Sheldon Turner are favourites to land g= old at the Oscars next month. The film is nominated for six awards, inclu= ding Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
But Walter Kirn - who wrote the original novel on which the film is bas= ed - has been snubbed by organisers, and has taken to Twitter.com to blas= t the Academy for failing to invite him to the event.
In a message Kirn posted on Wednesday (17Feb10), he writes, "Caution to= writers: Don’t expect that because you write a novel that becomes an Osc= ar-nominated film that you’ll be invited to the Oscars. Novelists are lik= e oil in H’wood (Hollywood): they drill us, pipeline us, pump us and then= burn us."

COWELL ‘NOT ENGAGED’, SAYS REP

SIMON COWELL’s spokesman has dismissed reports the media mogul is engaged= to wed AMERICAN IDOL make-up artist MEZHGAN HUSSAINY.
The American Idol judge sparked speculation he had proposed to Hussainy= after she was snapped sporting a diamond band on her ring finger followi= ng an intimate Valentine’s Day date with Cowell on Sunday (14Feb10).
Louis Walsh, a judge on Cowell’s U.K. talent show The X Factor, proceed= ed to confirm the star’s plans to wed, telling reporters: "I’m very, very= surprised but I’m delighted he’s got engaged." However, the mogul’s longtime publicist and close friend, Max Clifford,= insists the reports have been exaggerated.
Clifford tells UsMagazine.com: "I spoke to Simon in London yesterday (1= 7Feb10) afternoon, just before he took his flight back to L.A. I asked hi= m: ‘Look, are you engaged? Is it true?,’ and he said, ‘No! No. I’m not en= gaged.’ "Yes, they are an item. Yes, they’re happy. But they’re not engaged. Th= at’s straight from Simon’s mouth."

EMOTIONAL SCORSESE HALTED SHUTTER ISLAND FILMING

Director MARTIN SCORSESE struggled to complete his new thriller SHUTTER I= SLAND because the plot was so traumatising, he had to halt filming to gat= her his emotions.
In the film, Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a tormented cop stuck in a hosp= ital for the criminally insane.
The actor recently admitted he had been left exhausted by the gruelling= shoot and had been so emotionally drained, he had started to lose his se= nse of reality.
DiCaprio said, "My character was going through extreme emotional trauma= and it’s hard for those types of things not to rub off on you…
"A few weeks towards the end of filming, I started to forget where I wa= s. We kept pushing this character further and further. It was day after d= ay of re-enacting a traumatic event that was either a dream or reality fo= r this guy. I remember saying to Marty, ‘I have no idea where I am or wha= t I’m doing.’" But the Titanic star wasn’t the only one deeply affected by the harrowi= ng film shoot.
Scorsese says, "There was a period of time where I had to stop work on = it. It was too much. Just too much." However, the legendary director admits working on Shutter Island wasn’t= the first time he had been too overwhelmed to shoot - he’d experienced s= imilar situations while filming New York, New York in 1977 and The King o= f Comedy in 1983.
He adds, "There have been moments when I just can’t work. You get there= and you can’t do it. It’s a kind of paralysis. But eventually you get th= rough it and you do what you need to."

ALLEN EYES WEST END MUSICAL ROLE

LILY ALLEN is planning to combine her love of music with her desire to la= unch an acting career - she’s reportedly eyeing a role in a West End musi= cal.
The Smile singer recently announced plans to take a hiatus from writing= and recording to concentrate on other ventures, including launching a cl= othes shop and running her own music label.

ELTON JOHN’S MISERABLE ROMANCES

SIR ELTON JOHN has opened up about the failed relationships of his youth = - he would romance jobless young men and "smother them with love" but his= good intentions always backfired.
The music legend met his longterm partner, film producer David Furnish,= in 1993 and they wed in a civil ceremony in 2005.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’s mother has been pressuring the star to settle down wi= th girlfriend JESSICA BIEL - because she desperately wants grandchildren.

PALTROW’S REP DISMISSES DIVA BEHAVIOUR

A spokesperson for GWYNETH PALTROW has dismissed reports the Hollywood ac= tress is stirring up controversy on the set of new movie LOVE DON’T LET M= E DOWN due to outrageous diva-like demands.
Paltrow has moved into a luxury building in Nashville, Tennessee, where= she is filming the drama with co-stars Leighton Meester and Tim McGraw.
According to the New York Post, the actress brought along two bodyguard= s, two nannies, a chef and a personal trainer to the shoot - and demanded= production bosses pay more than $100,000 (=C2=A362,500) for renovations = to the sprawling penthouse for her four-week stay.
However, Paltrow’s spokesperson has denied renovations were carried out= , and insists the actress isn’t travelling with a large entourage.
The rep says, "She is not travelling with a personal chef or trainer. H= er children are with her for half of the four-week shoot and she has a na= nny and one security person with them while she is working."

ROWETTA CONSULTING LAWYERS OVER COLE PERFORMANCE

Former HAPPY MONDAYS singer ROWETTA is threatening legal action against C= HERYL COLE - after the singer allegedly used a sample of her vocals at th= e BRIT Awards without permission.
Rowetta - full name Rowetta Satchell - was approached by Cole’s represe= ntatives who asked to use her dancefloor hit Be in a performance at the s= how in London on Tuesday (16Feb10).
But Rowetta was left fuming when they snubbed her offer to sing live at= the event, revealing plans for an unknown backing singer to lip sync the= vocals instead.
The singer alleges Cole’s reps assured her they would choose a differen= t sample to use at the show - and she was stunned when she watched the pe= rformance of Cole’s hit Fight For This Love and heard her voice used in t= he track.
In a series of posts on her Facebook.com page, Rowetta writes, "Can’t b= elieve they used my sample at The Brits, after saying they’d have to use = something else, because they didn’t want me to sing it there. Very flatte= red, but also disappointed! Haven’t been able to get hold of anyone at (r= ecord label) Polydor this morning, they’re probably still hungover from a= ll the parties! We will be seeing our lawyers."

MELLENCAMP’S FANS PUSH FOR POLITICAL RUN

JOHN MELLENCAMP’s fans in his native Indiana are pushing for the veteran = singer to run for the U.S. Senate in a new online campaign.
The Jack and Diane hitmaker campaigned for U.S. President Barack Obama = in 2008 and now Democrats in his hometown want Mellencamp to break from m= usic and pursue politics full-time.

OSMOND LEADS HEART HEALTH CAMPAIGN

MARIE OSMOND is leading a heart health campaign in honour of her late mot= her - whose dying wish was for her daughter to lose weight and improve he= r fitness.
Osmond has signed up to become the spokeswoman for the Go Red for Women= drive, which encourages the females to take up healthy habits to help wi= pe out heart disease and strokes.
The 50-year-old singer’s mother Olive passed away in 2004 from complica= tions after a stroke.
And Osmond admits she has a deeply personal reason for joining the heal= th campaign - she wants to pass on her mother’s last request which encour= aged her to change her diet and take up exercise.
She tells Entertainment Tonight, "My mother on her death bed, she said,= ‘Marie, don’t do what I did. Take care of yourself.’ "You can do it for your loved ones, but you really need to do it for yo= urself. To me the whole campaign is about loving yourself."

BOYLE COLLAPSES AT AIRPORT

SUSAN BOYLE sparked fresh fears for her health after collapsing at a Lond= on airport on Tuesday morning (16Feb10).
The Scottish singer was preparing to board a British Airways flight to = Nice, France at Heathrow Airport when she fainted in the airline’s Club = Lounge.
Boyle, 48, was attended by medics before she was given the all clear to= fly. She later performed at the San Remo Festival, across the French bor= der in Italy, as planned.
An onlooker tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "It was very dramat= ic. Susan’s legs just gave way under her and she went down." A spokesperson for the star confirmed the incident, but insisted Boyle = quickly recovered.
The rep says, "Susan did faint at Heathrow as she overheated in the lou= nge because it was so warm. However, she is fine now and gave a fantastic= performance at the festival." The incident comes just weeks after Boyle stunned fellow passengers at = Heathrow last month (Jan10) by allegedly singing loudly and shouting obsc= enities at staff when she was asked to curb her "disruptive" behaviour.
Boyle was forced to dismiss reports about her fragile mental health in = November (09) after she was snapped sobbing and sucking her thumb after a= performance in New York. She was famously admitted to London’s Priory cl= inic last May (09) suffering from exhaustion, just days after she was nam= ed runner-up on U.K. TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

WAYNE HIT WITH LAWSUIT OVER ROYALTIES

LIL WAYNE’s legal woes are mounting - the prison-bound rapper is facing a= lawsuit over royalties from his 2008 song MRS. OFFICER.
Record producer Darius ‘Deezle’ Harrison and music publishers at The Ro= yalty Network are demanding $2.5 million (=C2=A31.6 million) for the use = of the track on Wayne’s Grammy-winning album Tha Carter III.
In a suit filed at Manhattan Federal Court in New York City on Wednesda= y (17Feb10), the plaintiffs allege they own the rights to the song, and r= ights to any profits from ring tones, music videos or streaming media.
Last year (09), executives at Wayne’s label, Cash Money Records, agreed= to temporarily halt payments from Mrs. Officer amid allegations Harrison= lifted parts of the track from a song called Crush, which producer Micha= el ‘Mali Boy’ Bradford composed for a little-known artist named Sky.
Mrs. Officer isn’t the only song Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr= .., has had legal problems with - he is also fighting allegations he illeg= ally sampled songwriter Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s Once in his track I Feel Li= ke Dying.
Wayne is expected to begin serving time for his 2007 arrest for gun pos= session next month (Mar10).
