BROWN IMPRESSES JUDGE WITH HARD LABOUR COMMITMENT

A judge has commended disgraced R&B star CHRIS BROWN’s efforts to fulfil = the terms of his sentence for assaulting ex-girlfriend RIHANNA.
Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg requested a hearing with the sing= er and his attorney in a Los Angeles courtroom to check on the community = work she sentenced him to carry out last year (09).
Thursday’s (18Feb10) progress hearing lasted less then two minutes and = concluded with the judge telling the 20 year old, "It looks like you are = doing really, really well." In court, Schnegg revealed Brown had worked off 32 of the 180 days of h= ard labour he had been ordered to carry out as part of his sentencing for= lashing out at Umbrella singer Rihanna during a row a year ago (Feb09), = and the singer had also completed a third of the domestic violence classe= s he was told to take.
Impressed Schnegg said, "You haven=E2=80=99t missed one. You are partic= ipating and doing a very good job."

WHEDON & SPURLOCK TO SHOOT COMIC CONVENTION DOCUMENTARY

Comic book superfans JOSS WHEDON and MORGAN SPURLOCK are teaming up to ch= ronicle the genre’s biggest convention Comic-Con in San Diego, California= ..

SWAYZE’S WIDOW SELLING FAMILY RANCH - REPORT

PATRICK SWAYZE’s widow LISA NIEMI is planning to sell the California ranc= h where the beloved actor died, according to U.S. tabloid reports.
The Ghost star lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in September (09)= and passed away at the couple’s remote California residence with family = by his side.
According to the National Enquirer, Niemi is now selling off the proper= ty, purchased by the couple for $2 million (GBP1.3 million) in 1984, and = will relocate to the ranch she shared with the actor in New Mexico.
A source says, "The ranch holds a lot of good memories for Lisa of her = life with Patrick, but she is having a hard time continuing to live in th= e house where he died."

GARRISON: ‘PRISON LIFE WAS HELL’

Actor LANE GARRISON has spoken out about his recent prison hell, revealin= g he was forced to live in squalid conditions in solitary confinement.
The former Prison Break star was jailed in 2007 after pleading guilty t= o vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for a December, 2006 car cra= sh that claimed the life of a 17 year old.
Released last year (09), Garrison has spoken little about his 22 months= behind bars in 18 different prisons, but now reveals it was a hell of in= tense heat, bugs, rats and time alone.
He tells In Touch magazine, "In Chino prison in Northern California, I = was in solitary confinement for three weeks in a 104-degree cell infested= with rats and roaches.
"The only time I had contact with the outside world was when I got my m= eals through a slot. I didn’t do anything to warrant solitary, but that’s= just where they put me."

MILLER WEARING LAW’S RING AGAIN

SIENNA MILLER has sparked speculation she’s ready to get really serious w= ith former fiance JUDE LAW again - she’s wearing the engagement ring he b= ought her.
Friends insist she’s wearing the gem as jewellery and not on her weddin= g finger, but it’s clear she likes the look of it.
She and Law called off their engagement in 2006 after the actor came cl= ean about his affair with his children’s nanny, but they’ve recently reco= nciled.
A friend of the couple tells Life & Style magazine, "She wore it (ring)= for fun, probably as jewellery, but she wore it with close friends, and = everyone saw it. There’s no denying it.
"They’re not engaged, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she and Jude go al= l the way. She’s very happy."

BARRYMORE & SYKES TO BE HONOURED WITH TOP GAY MEDIA AWARDS

DREW BARRYMORE and WANDA SYKES are to be the recipients of this year’s (1= 0) top gay honours at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards.
Officials at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation will bestow = their Vanguard Award on Barrymore, while gay comedienne Wanda Sykes will = receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at a glitzy gala in Los Angeles on 17= April (10).
Barrymore’s honour comes after she portrayed Robert De Niro’s lesbian d= aughter in Everybody’s Fine, which has also been nominated for Outstandin= g Film at the event.
She has become a big favourite of GLAAD in recent years for her activis= m towards gay rights and joined thousands of marriage equality advocates = on the streets of West Hollywood when the California Supreme Court upheld= Proposition 8, which eliminated marriage for gay and lesbian couples.
The thrilled star says, "I was born, bred and raised among diversity, i= t has defined me and made me the person I am today. I’m honoured and humb= led to be receiving this award." Past recipients of The Vanguard Award include Charlize Theron, Antonio = Banderas, Sharon Stone and Elizabeth Taylor.
Sykes’ honour is annually presented to openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or= transgender media professionals who have made a significant difference i= n promoting equal rights for the gay community.

ACTRESS/SINGER GRAYSON DIES

Actress/singer KATHRYN GRAYSON has died, aged 88.
Grayson, who starred in popular musicals including Show Boat and Kiss M= e Kate, passed away in her sleep at her Los Angeles home on Wednesday (17= Feb10).
She also played Gene Kelly’s girlfriend in 1943 film Thousands Cheer, a= nd co-starred with Kelly and Frank Sinatra in Anchors Aweigh in 1945.
Grayson’s other musicals included Two Sisters from Boston, Ziegfeld Fol= lies, The Toast of New Orleans and Lovely to Look At.
She later starred in stage productions including The Merry Widow, Camel= ot and Man of La Mancha.
She is survived by a daughter and several grandchildren and great-grand= children.

PAISLEY DRINKS LIMA BEAN POOP TO STAY AWAKE ON TOUR

Country music star BRAD PAISLEY fights off tiredness on tour by drinking = lima poop.
The Celebrity singer lives for exotic Indonesian coffee kopi luwak when= he’s on the road - but doesn’t like to dwell on how it’s made.
He explains, "It’s this really rare coffee that my band got me as a gif= t because we live on coffee out on the road; you need it… Kopi luwak is= a delicacy… where, basically, this lima eats the coffee fruit and then= craps out the bean and they harvest the beans from the floor of the jung= le and make coffee from it. It’s supposedly the best." Paisley reveals his pal Scott Hamilton, a former Olympic skater, turned= him onto the odd coffee after trying it in Italy.

WATCHDOG ORDERS TICKET AGENCY TO REPAY SPRINGSTEEN FANS

The bosses of a ticketing agency has been ordered to refund thousands of = BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN fans after the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took= action following a flood of complaints about online sales.
Fans of the Born To Run hitmaker were angry when they were unable to bu= y certain seats from the Ticketmaster.com website for The Boss’ 2009 tour= , and were redirected to another agency, TicketsNow, which charged at lea= st double the original admission price.
Ticketmaster bosses apologised for the blunder and offered to pay out $= 350,000 (=C2=A3233,335) to the state of New Jersey - where the concerts w= ere held.
But now, after an investigation by consumer watchdog the FTC, Ticketmas= ter bosses will have to pay out "upward of a million dollars" to refund f= ans who paid over the odds for the chance to see Springsteen in concert i= n his home state.
FTC chairman Jon Leibowitz told reporters the sales techniques of the a= gency had been "pretty shocking", and he has fired of a warning letter to= all online ticket sellers, telling them to ensure consumers know exactly= what they are buying.
The scandal infuriated Springsteen, who dubbed the incident an "abuse o= f our fans and our trust".
Rapper Jay-Z also lashed out against scalpers, who used websites like T= icketsNow to re-sell higher priced concert seats to his 9/11 benefit conc= ert in New York in September (09), accusing touts of eating into profits = meant for charities.

OBSESSED ASHANTI FAN JAILED FOR TWO YEARS OVER LEWD TEXTS

An obsessed ASHANTI fan who bombarded the R&B star’s mother with obscene = text messages has been jailed for two years.
Devar Hurd was convicted of stalking and aggravated harassment in Decem= ber (09), and, on Thursday (18Feb10), a Manhattan judge sentenced the wan= nabe rapper to two years imprisonment. Hurd has already served eight mont= hs behind bars awaiting his trial and subsequent sentencing.
The 31 year old was arrested last year (09) after texting a string of l= ewd messages to the Grammy winner’s mother, Tina Douglas - including sexu= al and romantic scenarios and explicit images of his genitalia.
Hurd defended his actions, insisting the messages were harmless "banter= ".

O’GRADY WINS PERMANENT BAN AGAINST ALLEGED STALKER

A Los Angeles judge has granted actress GAIL O’GRADY a permanent restrain= ing order against an alleged stalker after the suspect threw a tantrum in= the courtroom.
The former NYPD Blue star won a temporary ban against Steven Church las= t month (Jan10) after he bombarded her with text messages and phone calls= when she rebuffed his advances.
He was also accused of repeatedly showing up at a store O’Grady owns an= d outside her five-year-old son’s school.
Church returned to court on Thursday (18Feb10) and admitted to sending = O’Grady more than 400 text messages from September (09).
He then attempted to storm out of the courtroom after realising the act= ress was not present for the hearing.
Upon his return to the stand, Judge Carol Boas Goodson ordered Church t= o stay at least 100 yards (91 meters) away from O’Grady and her son for t= he foreseeable future.

ELTON JOHN has credited HIV/AIDS victim RYAN WHITE’s family for giving hi= m the determination to give up drugs after the teenager died in 1990.
The rocker spent the last week of the Indiana native’s life by his beds= ide and listened as his family members told him about the hatred they’d e= xperienced after haemophiliac White contracted the disease from a contami= nated blood transfusion.
Deeply saddened by the experience, Elton felt stupid about turning to d= rugs to help sort out his problems - and felt compelled to get clean.
Now, 19 years sober, the Rocket Man has sat down with top U.S. intervie= wer Dotson Rader in the Atlanta, Georgia home where he cleaned up his act= to recall how the White family helped him turn his life around.
He tells the Parade magazine contributing editor, "Every time I stopped= taking drugs, after a period of time I’d go back. It got worse and worse= .. I pushed away my friends. I was surrounded by drug addicts. What finall= y opened my eyes was Ryan White." "I read in a magazine that Ryan was not allowed to go to school because= he had AIDS. Firebombs were being put in his family’s letter box. I was enraged. I helped the White family move. I spent the last we= ek of Ryan’s life in 1990 with him in an Indianapolis hospital.
"He’d endured all this hatred. He was never bitter. I never heard him c= omplain. There was something wonderful in this family - they were losing = their son, yet they were still able to forgive the hatred of others.
"I thought, ‘Look at me. I have everything I want, and I complain about= a hotel room because I don’t like the wallpaper? What happened to me? I = was a nice, decent boy, and now I’m a self-obsessed drug addict.’ "So I got sober."

LOHAN IN COMPLIANCE WITH PROBATION

A Los Angeles judge has ruled actress LINDSAY LOHAN is in full compliance= with the terms of her probation stemming from her 2007 drink and drug ar= rest.
The Mean Girls star pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour counts of being = under the influence of cocaine and no contest to drink driving and reckle= ss driving charges in August 2007.
Her probationary period was extended last year (09), after she failed t= o complete court-ordered drug and alcohol education programmes within the= time specified.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel reviewed the case on Thur= sday (18Feb10) and approved Lohan’s progress, saying, "Everything looks g= ood." The 23 year old has until July (10) to complete the courses.
Lohan was not in court for the hearing. Her next progress report is sch= eduled for 20 May (10).

WAYNE SELLING OFF SECOND MIAMI PROPERTY

Prison-bound rapper LIL WAYNE is looking to make a quick profit from his = property portfolio as he prepares for jail - he’s placed his Miami, Flori= da apartment up for sale.
The Lollipop hitmaker has put his luxurious four bedroom South Beach co= ndominium on the market for $2.8 million (=C2=A31.75 million).
It is the second Miami pad Wayne is trying to sell - he is allegedly st= ruggling to offload his other beachfront apartment because it reportedly = smells strongly of marijuana, reports AllHipHop.com.
The rapper is expected to be handed a one-year prison sentence for weap= ons possession when he returns to a New York court next month (02Mar10).
His initial sentencing, set for 9 February (10), was postponed to allow= Wayne to undergo dental surgery.

TYLER READY FOR AEROSMITH RETURN IN EUROPE

STEVEN TYLER has confirmed he’s returning to AEROSMITH for summer festiva= l shows in Europe, insisting he’s "excited" about the prospect of playing= live again.
Tyler stunned the music world - and his bandmates - last year (09) when= he announced his plans for a two-year hiatus before quitting the group.
Guitarist Joe Perry immediately launched a bid to replace the frontman = for 2010 recording and concert commitments, but it appears Tyler will be = back sooner than expected, following a stint in rehab for a painkiller ad= diction.
And just two weeks after the singer’s manager, Skip Miller, threatened = to sue Aerosmith if Tyler was replaced, the band is planning a series of = European shows, beginning with the Sweden Rock Festival in early June (10= ) - a show the Dude Looks Like a Lady singer is thrilled about.
In a message posted on the festival’s website, Tyler writes, "The Swedi= sh audience is like no other. We are all very excited about this." And Perry adds, "This will be our first gig on our European tour. We ca= n hardly wait until we can kickstart our tour in Sweden, and I am confide= nt that it will be great!" The group has also booked a co-headlining spot at Britain’s Download Fe= stival later in June.
The shows will kick off Aerosmith’s 40th anniversary.
