SIMON COWELL has spoken out about the swirling rumours over who will repl= ace him on AMERICAN IDOL, insisting shock jock HOWARD STERN isn’t qualifi= ed to take over but LADY GAGA would be a good choice.

I think, over the years, judges h= ave been replaced by personalities. That, in the long term, will create p= roblems because you have to be able to spot a star. My advice would be fi= nd somebody who actually knows what they=E2=80=99re talking about and has= actually experienced success in the music business.=E2=80=A6 (Stern) doe= sn=E2=80=99t seem to have any of this criteria." Cowell also brushed off rumours Madonna could join the show, insisting = the pop superstar wouldn’t be able to agree to the "time commitment", and= ruled out former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher because the American public= couldn’t "understand" his strong northern England accent.
But the Brit has put forward pop star Lady Gaga as a celebrity mentor a= nd blogger Perez Hilton as his top picks for American Idol.
He adds, "I think we should have Lady Gaga. She is the most relevant po= p artist in the world at the moment=E2=80=A6 and I=E2=80=99ve met her and= she=E2=80=99s very smart. I like her.
