JAY-Z ‘PRAYING’ WINEHOUSE WON’T BECOME ANOTHER LAURYN HILL
JAY-Z has urged AMY WINEHOUSE to hurry back into the studio to complete h= er next album - because he fears the REHAB hitmaker will become as reclus= ive as LAURYN HILL.
The British soul star has been in and out of the studio since last year= (09), when she travelled to St. Lucia to record tracks with producer Sal= aam Remi, and record label bosses have confirmed her third disc, the foll= ow-up to 2006’s Back To Black, will be released in 2010.
Rap superstar Jay-Z credits Winehouse with boosting the U.K. music scen= e but he hopes her drink and drug problems are firmly in the past - becau= se he’d hate to see her talent go to waste.
He says, "There’s a strong push coming out of London right now which is= great. It’s been coming ever since I guess Amy (Winehouse). I mean (ther= e) always (has been), but I think… this resurgence was ushered in by Am= y, that’s how I see it.
"(I’m) just praying she doesn’t turn into Lauryn Hill and we never get = another album." The former Fugees star received critical acclaim when she released her = debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998 - but she’s not = released a disc of new material since.
