JAY-Z has urged AMY WINEHOUSE to hurry back into the studio to complete h= er next album - because he fears the REHAB hitmaker will become as reclus= ive as LAURYN HILL.
The British soul star has been in and out of the studio since last year= (09), when she travelled to St. Lucia to record tracks with producer Sal= aam Remi, and record label bosses have confirmed her third disc, the foll= ow-up to 2006’s Back To Black, will be released in 2010.
Rap superstar Jay-Z credits Winehouse with boosting the U.K. music scen= e but he hopes her drink and drug problems are firmly in the past - becau= se he’d hate to see her talent go to waste.
He says, "There’s a strong push coming out of London right now which is= great. It’s been coming ever since I guess Amy (Winehouse). I mean (ther= e) always (has been), but I think… this resurgence was ushered in by Am= y, that’s how I see it.
"(I’m) just praying she doesn’t turn into Lauryn Hill and we never get = another album." The former Fugees star received critical acclaim when she released her = debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998 - but she’s not = released a disc of new material since.

MUELLER OPTS FOR QUIETER REHAB CENTRE

CHARLIE SHEEN’s wife BROOKE MUELLER has transferred to a more low-key reh= abilitation facility after a security breach prompted her to leave the Ma= libu, California centre she checked into earlier this month (Feb10).
Mueller was admitted to The Canyon on 9 February (10) to deal with pers= onal issues after a similar stay at a North Carolina wellness clinic, whe= re she spent a week recuperating after suffering from an infection and a = bout of pneumonia.
But she has now left The Canyon in favour of a quieter location, after = a staff member leaked a detailed patient admissions document to the press= , reports TMZ.com.
A source tells People.com the real estate agent transferred facilities = on Sunday (21Feb10).
The insider says, "Brooke has recently moved to a new rehab facility in= the Los Angeles area. She wants privacy and to be away from cameras that= were bothering her at the other place.
"She is doing well and can come and go and play with the kids in the pa= rk if she stays in Los Angeles. She wants to keep it together for her twi= ns. Brooke and Charlie are getting along OK, and he supports her stay in = rehab." Meanwhile, Sheen’s representative Stan Rosenfield has played down a wee= kend meeting from social services, insisting the L.A.’s Department of Chi= ldren and Family Services’ visit to the actor’s home on Sunday was "routi= ne" and "procedural".
Officials with the Los Angeles County child services department have be= en keeping a close eye on Sheen and Mueller to ensure their twin boys Bob= and Max, 11 months, are not at any risk following a bust-up between the = couple on Christmas Day (25Dec09).
Sheen was arrested and now faces charges of felony menacing, third degr= ee assault and misdemeanour criminal mischief after allegedly threatening= Mueller with a knife during the fight.

LIL WAYNE: ‘POT SMELL IS A PROPERTY SELLING POINT’

Rapper LIL WAYNE has laughed off reports he’s struggling to offload one o= f his apartments in Miami, Florida because it stinks of marijuana, insist= ing the odour has instead proved to be a unique selling point.
The Lollipop hitmaker placed a three-bedroom, two bathroom South Beach = condominium on the market for $520,000 (=C2=A3325,000) late last year (09= ).
Real estate dealers had to warn prospective buyers about the strong pot= smell prior to showing the apartment, according to the New York Post.
One source recalls of his visit, "A member of Wayne’s posse opened the = door to the overwhelming smell of marijuana. Two hot, rap-video-looking g= irls were walking around in nothing but a bra and underwear, blasting hip= -hop. We just went in and looked around and tried not to stare." But Wayne is convinced the overwhelming odour has not been a selling se= tback, even though the property has yet to be sold - because wealthy fans= have been flocking to the apartment to check out the place the rapper on= ce called home.
He says, "We’re not having trouble selling it… The people that (sic) = are coming to look at it like that (the marijuana smell) more about it. T= hat’s like waking in Bob Marley’s crib (home) and you still smelling weed= and his bed still messed up, and food still on the table (sic). You’re l= ike, ‘Leave all that s**t. I want to buy all that s**t.’" Wayne recently admitted he’d never given up his drug habit. He told Rol= ling Stone magazine, "I smoke weed all day. I’m a very successful addict.= And a smart one. SNIPES BACKS NEW YORK BAD TRIBUTE TO JACKSON

WESLEY SNIPES has backed plans to honour his late BAD co-star MICHAEL JAC= KSON at the New York subway station the iconic video was filmed.
City bosses want to erect a tribute to the King of Pop at the Hoyt-Sche= rmerhorn station in Brooklyn.
Snipes, who shot scenes at the station with Jackson and director Martin= Scorsese, insists it would be a worthy honour, following the star’s deat= h last year (Jun09).
And he insists he still remembers the lessons he learned from Jackson, = nearly 25 years after they met.
The actor tells WENN, "(The tribute) would be cool.
"The amazing thing is I was only supposed to be on the project for abou= t three days and it turned out to be three and a half weeks; almost a mon= th of filming.
"The thing I took from it the most was watching Michael Jackson perform= at performance level in his rehearsals. I said, ‘Wow that’s the consumma= te artist right there. OPERA STAR DOMINGO TO UNDERGO SURGERY

Opera star PLACIDO DOMINGO will undergo surgery this week (ends28Feb10) a= fter suffering abdominal pains during a recent performance in Tokyo, Japa= n.
The Spanish tenor, 69, has been forced to put his world tour on hold af= ter doubling over in pain during his performance on 13 February (10).
On Monday (22Feb10), Domingo’s publicist Nancy Seltzer confirmed he wil= l undergo the "medically recommended preventive surgery" at a New York ho= spital.
But she is confident Domingo will be back on the road within six weeks = after a brief recuperation period.

BLUES BROTHERS HEADING TO THE SMALL SCREEN

Movie classic BLUES BROTHERS is to be turned into a new TV show.
The widow of original star John Belushi has teamed up with Saturday Nig= ht Live writer Anne Beatts to write a script for a small screen adventure= , which will star Kieron Lafferty and Wayne Catania as Jake and Elwood Bl= ues.
Lafferty and Catania currently play the musical pair in the touring Blu= es Brother Review, taking on the roles played by Belushi and Dan Aykroyd = in the original movie.
Judy Belushi Pisano tells Undercover.com.au, "I’ve written a script wit= h one of the Saturday Night Live writers, Anne Beatts, and with Kieran an= d Wayne. …We have scripted it over six to eight shows where they are on= a mission down the Mississippi back to New Orleans".
Belushi Pisano is happy to see the characters played by new actors, 28 = years after her husband died.
She adds, "What this has done has reminded me what great characters the= Blues Brothers are. They are great American characters. People tend to t= hink of them as John and Dan. They were the first actors to do it but the= y won’t be the last. When you see Kieran and Wayne you will see how they = embody those characters and make them work. There is a spirit of Blues Br= others. It is an umbrella for the Blues."

PIVEN’S ON-SET DILEMMA WITH STRIPPER

He explains, "She scissored my head with her legs and started jamming m= y neck. The problem is I had this massive monologue and she’s wrenching m= y neck and cutting off all the oxygen to my brain.
"It’s an interesting experiment because when you have a massive monolog= ue you obviously have to stay on top of your lines, rattle it off and mak= e it look improvisational.

WOMAN SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR OBSTRUCTING PELLICANO CASE

A former phone company worker has been sentenced to three-and-a-half year= s in prison after she was convicted of lying to authorities during the wi= retapping case against disgraced Hollywood private investigator ANTHONY P= ELLICANO.
Pellicano was found guilty of illegally recording the calls of stars in= cluding Sylvester Stallone in 2008 and was sentenced to 15 years behind b= ars.
But the FBI’s investigation was hindered by Joann Wiggan, who was found= guilty on two counts of perjury and one charge of making a false stateme= nt after she lied to officers about information she handed to her former = colleague, Pellicano’s accomplice Ray Turner, as they tried to build thei= r case.
During a Los Angeles court appearance on Monday (22Feb10), U.S. Distric= t Judge Dale S. Fisher said she "engaged for years in the calculated obst= ruction and perversion of the court process".
Wiggan, 56, was handed a 41-month sentence and two years of supervised = release, in addition to a $7,500 (=C2=A34,687.50) fine.

CHEADLE HOPES MILES DAVIS MOVIE WILL BE RESURRECTED

DON CHEADLE blames former U.S. president GEORGE W. BUSH for ruining the e= conomy and derailing his plans to play jazz great MILES DAVIS on the big = screen.

Embattled actor CHARLIE SHEEN received a call from social services at the= weekend (21Feb10) when they paid a visit to his Los Angeles home.
The Two and a Half Men star is currently looking after his twin sons Bo= b and Max, who turn one on 14 March (10), after his wife Brooke Mueller c= hecked into a rehab facility in Malibu, California earlier this month (09= Feb10).
The couple has been working on rebuilding its marriage following a Chri= stmas Day (25Dec09) bust-up in Aspen, Colorado which led to Sheen’s arres= t.
He was subsequently charged with felony menacing, third degree assault = and misdemeanour criminal mischief after allegedly threatening Mueller wi= th a knife during the fight.
Officials with the Los Angeles County child services department have be= en keeping a close eye on Sheen and Mueller to ensure their boys are not = at any risk and the actor met with a representative on Sunday (21Feb10), = reports E! News.
Details about the trip have yet to emerge, but a source says, "It was a= short visit. It was over something that’s been happening over the last t= wo weeks." Sheen is due to appear before a judge on 15 March (10), when he will be= arraigned for the assault charges.
Meanwhile, new reports suggest Mueller has checked out of the Malibu re= hab centre due to a privacy breach after a staff member leaked a detailed= patient admissions document to the press.
According to TMZ.com, the facility has acknowledged the breach and is c= onducting an internal investigation.

DEPP STUNNED BY HOLLYWOOD SUCCESS

JOHNNY DEPP is surprised by his huge success in Hollywood, insisting his = long-running career "defies logic".

CILMI: ‘I DON’T HATE GAGA’

Aussie singer GABRIELLA CILMI has reached out to LADY GAGA - a year after= clashing with the POKER FACE hitmaker at the BRIT Awards.
The Sweet About Me singer openly criticised Gaga for her skimpy stage o= utfits and raunchy dance routines at the London ceremony last year (09).
Cilmi’s comments led to her fleeing last year’s (09) BRITs to avoid a b= ackstage confrontation with her rival - but she has now insisted her word= s were taken out of context and she doesn’t hate Gaga.

I said to some rep= orters I didn’t understand how she could go out on such a cold day in lit= tle shorts. It came out as if I was criticising her, suggesting she was d= isgusting.
"Then she pointed at me backstage with a withering look and my manager = had to get me out of there. I didn’t really get her at first but I loved = her performance at the Grammys with Elton John and I think she is a reall= y talented songwriter. C-MURDER URGES YOUTHS TO STAY OUT OF JAIL

Incarcerated rapper C-MURDER has urged troubled youths to learn from his = mistakes and turn their lives around to stay out of jail.
C-Murder, real name Corey Miller, is serving time behind bars at Angola= State Prison in Louisiana as he appeals a life sentence for the 2002 mur= der of a 16 year old boy at a local nightclub.
The 38 year old, who has maintained his innocence throughout his legal = ordeal, has opened up about prison life and hopes his story can help save= troubled youths from following in his footsteps.
In a post on his website, he writes, "I’m holding up pretty good here a= t Angola. I work out regularly and participate in all sports leagues.
"Of course I hate it, but here, you gotta do what you gotta do. Life is= short and the time you waste in jail can never be replaced. I’m asking y= ou guys to take heed to my situation and better yourselves to live a posi= tive and productive life."

CILMI’S CANCER DRIVE

Singer GABRIELLA CILMI is urging men and women to undergo regular breast = cancer checks, after losing her grandmother to the disease.
The Sweet About Me hitmaker’s family has been blighted by the illness -= her mother survived a cancer battle 10 years ago, and her grandfather wa= s also diagnosed with the disease.
And she is encouraging her fans to get themselves checked out regularly= to aid the early detection of cancerous cells.
Cilmi tells Scotland’s Sunday Mail, "My mum had breast cancer when she = was 35. She is 45 now and she has been cleared of it. My grandmother pass= ed away from it so it is something in my family that is close to our hear= ts. My mum is a great story for women who are diagnosed with breast cance= r. She was so young when she got it but she has overcome it and is health= y and strong now.
"You hear so many terrible stories but not many success stories. My gra= ndfather had breast cancer too. He got it in his old age. It is not just = something women get… I exercise and eat well but anyone should be aware= and get tests whether you have a history of breast cancer or not." (ZN/W=

SLASH STILL SEARCHING FOR WEILAND’S REPLACEMENT

SLASH will resume his search for SCOTT WEILAND’s replacement in VELVET RE= VOLVER once he completes his solo tour.
The group, founded by the guitarist and his former Guns N’ Roses bandma= te Duff McKagan, has been auditioning singers since firing Weiland in Apr= il 2008.
Slash’s planned solo tour this summer (10) prompted fears among the sup= ergroup’s fans Velvet Revolver would never play again.
However, the rocker insists he’s waiting for his schedule to line up wi= th McKagan’s - who is rumoured to have stepped in to replace Jane’s Addic= tion bassist Eric Avery during the band’s hiatus.
Slash tells RollingStone.com, "I think Duff is doing something with Jan= e’s Addiction right now so we’re all sort of all over the place doing wha= tever until we can all regroup. We did listen to a lot of singers, but th= ere hasn’t been anybody that’s going to be the guy so far." But he insists Velvet Revolver’s next vocalist will be someone who isn’= t as famous as Stone Temple Pilots star Weiland.
