RAPPER GIGGS’ TOUR AXED

British rapper GIGGS’ U.K tour has been cancelled over security fears - j= ust a day before it was set to begin.
The star was due to start his 10-date trek around Britain in Birmingham= , England on Wednesday (24Feb10), but after consultations with the Metrop= olitan Police in London, he has pulled all the shows.
Bosses at the venue for his London date had expressed concerns over sec= urity, and officials at the Met Police then advised their colleagues else= where in Britain of the potential problems the tour would cause.
Giggs tells BBC Newsbeat, "This is how it’s been from the beginning, it= ’s just that everyone is hearing about it now. Before it used to be low k= ey, people didn’t really believe me.
"I just want to thank the police for all this great promotion that they= ‘re giving me, all these cancellations and that is just making me more po= werful." A Met Police spokesperson says, "Police advised that there were concern= s about potential risk to the event, if it took place. It is routine for = police to work with licensed venues on a regular basis to identify and ma= nage risk assessments for upcoming performances but the decision to cance= l an event is a matter for the venue itself."

WAYNE BRUSHES OFF BABY RUMOURS

Jail-bound rapper LIL WAYNE has silenced reports he’s expecting a fifth c= hild with a singer he signed to his record label.
The Lollipop hitmaker, who is expected to be sentenced to a year behind= bars next week (02Mar10), was rumoured to have impregnated upcoming sing= er Shanell Woodgett, who he recruited to his Young Money imprint.
But the hip-hop star insists there’s no truth to the speculation.
In a video clip posted online for fans, Wayne explains, "Let me clear u= p this rumour, man: Shanell is not pregnant from me (sic). Shanell isn’t = even pregnant! Period. Clear that up right now, man. Everybody talking ab= out Shanell pregnant by (me). No, she not even pregnant (sic). Period." And Shanell, who has written songs for the rapper, admits she was deepl= y offended by the story.
She tells MTV.com, "Basically it came from a corny rumour that escalate= d. First I was dating him, then I was his girlfriend, then we were gettin= g married, then we were settling down and now I’m pregnant. It’s so fooli= sh we’ve haven’t paid it any attention.
"All the rest of the rumours were kinda (sic) funny except that one. Wh= en my mother called me (I said) ‘No! Are you serious?’ I don’t care about= the (other) rumours, but I just want people to know that I’m not pregnan= t. I’ve got an album coming out, I’m a dancer, I’m in shape and children = are not anywhere in my future." Lil Wayne is already dad to three sons and a daughter, Reginae, from pr= evious relationships.

COLDPLAY BOOST SECURITY OVER ALBUM LEAK FEARS

British rockers COLDPLAY are determined to keep their new album under wra= ps until its release date - they’ve set up strict security procedures to = make sure it doesn’t leak.
The Clocks hitmakers are currently working on their fifth record at the= ir own studio in north London, and they have encrypted computer files con= taining their new tracks to keep the songs secret.
Frontman Chris Martin tells NME.com, "There’s only two people in the wh= ole building who know how to open all the recording files. Even we (the b= and) don’t know how to do it. We couldn’t even steal our own music at the= moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to ge= t into the building, and download it, and mix it." And the singer hopes the new album will be ready by the end of 2010, ad= ding: "Hopefully (it will be released) this Christmas."

MORGAN RED-FACED OVER BROWN CRASH

TV personality PIERS MORGAN was forced to apologise to the British Prime = Minister’s wife at Monday night’s (22Feb10) Elle Style Awards after damag= ing her car in a crash earlier that day.
The America’s Got Talent judge was driving to U.K. leader Gordon Brown’= s Downing Street residence in London to conduct an interview on Monday mo= rning, when he accidentally reversed into Sarah Brown’s car.
And he used his appearance at the annual fashion awards in the British = capital to say sorry for the collision.
Morgan told the crowd, "I want to apologise to Sarah Brown for crashing= into her car this morning, nearly killing her and her son.

MULLIGAN ‘TOO NOISY’ FOR LONDON APARTMENT

Award-winning British actress CAREY MULLIGAN was reportedly evicted from = her London home two years ago after a series of noisy parties, according = to the star’s former neighbours.
The 24 year old rented an apartment in the Highgate area of north Londo= n with three friends between 2007 and 2008 while she was working in local= bar The Flask.
But Mulligan’s former neighbours at the Cholmeley Lodge estate claim th= ey had to contact the residents’ board to report regular disturbances at = the ground-floor property, and the four pals were eventually asked to lea= ve when the board refused to renew their lease.
One resident tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, "We had to get rid o= f them, it was getting too noisy. They always had people coming and going= , there was shouting and music playing late at night. Several of them wor= ked there (at the pub). The pub would shut and… they would bring everyo= ne back here. They would come down thinking they’d carry on here and have= a few drinks but it got too noisy for the other residents - they got ver= y angry about it.
"Doors would be left open with people coming in and out. There was shou= ting and the music was enough to wake people. Most of the residents here = are professionals and it got too much. In the end, we had to ask them to = leave. Their contract was for a year and when it came up for renewal the = board asked them to leave." Mulligan now shares an apartment with a friend in nearby Holloway, nort= h London, which is owned by her family.

HOFFMAN’S BAFTA STAGE FRIGHT

Veteran actor DUSTIN HOFFMAN was crippled with fear when he presented a p= rize at the recent BAFTA Awards in London - because his stage fright kick= ed in just before the crucial moment.
The Rain Man star has always been scared of public speaking, and he was= feeling particularly nervy when he was due to hand out the coveted Best = Film trophy at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Aw= ards in London on Sunday night (21Feb10).
And Hoffman admits he’s glad officials at the ceremony gave him a speec= h to read out when he presented Kathryn Bigelow with her award for The Hu= rt Locker - because he was in a "terrible" state by the time he took the = stage.
He says, "I still get terrible stage fright. I think it’s an adrenaline= thing but I get so scared and (Sunday night) was really bad. I do usuall= y try to prepare a speech for things like this, but I have to admit that = the last four lines of my speech were written by BAFTA and I had to ad-li= b the rest. I got nervous, see."

BRITISH CINEMA CHAIN CONFIRMS WONDERLAND BOYCOTT

TIM BURTON’s new blockbuster ALICE IN WONDERLAND will be given a limited = release in Britain after bosses at the country’s biggest cinema chain vot= ed to ban it from their screens.
Executives at Odeon, which owns 107 cinemas in the U.K. and Ireland, ha= ve decided to boycott Burton’s 3D picture after plans were announced to l= aunch the movie on DVD just three months after it hits theatres.
Odeon chiefs, along with bosses at Vue and Cineworld, had called for th= e film - starring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway - to be given the standar= d 17-week gap before it was made available for home viewing.
An Odeon spokesperson says, "The negative impact on cinema attendance t= hat such a reduction in the window will have will threaten the continued = existence of many cinemas, especially the smaller and medium-sized cinema= s. (It would) set a new benchmark, leading to a 12-week window becoming r= apidly standard." Company bosses refused to back down and have voted in favour of a ban, = so fans will be unable to watch Alice In Wonderland on Odeon screens in t= he U.K., the Irish Republic and Italy. Executives at Vue and Cineworld ha= ve reportedly agreed a deal with Disney chiefs to show the movie.
The film is also facing a boycott in Holland, with many movie theatre o= wners in the Netherlands refusing to show the picture if the early home r= elease goes ahead.

REUBENS RECEIVES SPEEDING TICKET

Actor PAUL REUBENS landed in trouble with the law on Friday (19Feb10) aft= er he was allegedly caught speeding.
The actor, best known for his alter ego Pee-Wee Herman, is said to have= been driving 50 miles per hour (80 kilometres per hour) in a 35 mph (56 = kph) zone in West Hollywood.
The funnyman was driving his Lexus when cops clocked him speeding and p= romptly handed over a ticket, reports TMZ.com.

Hit TV musical GLEE has been given the presidential seal of approval - th= e cast has reportedly been asked to perform at the White House for U.S. P= resident BARACK OBAMA.

POLICE HOPEFUL OF FINDING MISSING KOENIG=20

Police have renewed hope of finding former GROWING PAINS star ANDREW KOEN= IG alive following a series of reported sightings of the missing actor.
The 42 year old was last seen in Vancouver, Canada on 14 February (10).= He missed a flight out of the city to return to his home in Los Angeles = on 16 February (10) and his friend, burlesque artist Jenny Magenta, repor= ted him as a missing person last week (ends19Feb10) after failing to cont= act him.
A police spokesperson tells TMZ.com they are still looking "for a livin= g person," following a number of reported sightings of the star around Va= ncouver Island.
Vancouver Police Constable Tim Fanning tells ET Online that Koenig’s AT= M card and cell phone have been used since the day the actor is said to h= ave disappeared, renewing hope he can still be found.

FIRTH CREDITS REPAIR MAN WITH BAFTA WIN

COLIN FIRTH has credited a repair man with landing him his first BAFTA Aw= ard - because he was preparing to turn down his role in A SINGLE MAN unti= l he was interrupted by a worker who came to fix his refrigerator.
Firth admits he had doubts about taking on the challenge of playing a g= ay college professor in Tom Ford’s directorial debut.
The British actor was in the middle of writing an email to turn down th= e part when a noisy engineer interrupted him and made him think twice abo= ut the decision.
And Firth insists it was the best move he ever made after he was handed= the coveted Best Actor prize at the British Academy of Film and Televisi= on Arts (BAFTA) Awards in London on Sunday night (21Feb10).
He says, "It was self-doubt really. I thought, ‘I don’t know if I am in= the frame of mind where my imagination is firing enough to bring to this= what is required.’ But (the interruption from the repair man gave me) a = moment of reflection (that encouraged me to) take a leap into the unknown= ..

PHILLIPPE ENDED CORNISH RELATIONSHIP

FONDA WANTS TO SAY FAREWELL TO HOPPER

PETER FONDA is desperate to say farewell to his dying EASY RIDER co-star = DENNIS HOPPER - but the cancer-stricken actor is too tired to speak.
Hopper is suffering from terminal prostate cancer and reportedly has ju= st weeks to live.
Fonda, who formed the iconic pairing of Billy and Captain America with = Hopper in the classic ’60s road movie, has contacted his old pal several = times - but is frustrated at their lack of conversation.
Fonda, who celebrates his 70th birthday on Tuesday (23Feb10), tells the= Toronto Star, "Unfortunately, Dennis is dying. It’s just terrible.
"I’ve called him now literally more than a dozen times, and I can’t tal= k to him because he’s too tired. He’s wrecked. He’s fighting this cancer = that he has been fighting for 10 years and I feel sorry for him… I hope= he gets another year, so he gets enough strength so I can go in to him a= nd shake his hand and kiss him on the head and say, ‘It’s been a hell of = a ride, Dennis. PATTINSON ‘CONFIRMS STEWART ROMANCE’

TWILIGHT hunk ROBERT PATTINSON has reportedly confirmed he is dating co-s= tar KRISTEN STEWART, ending months of speculation.

JACKSON LAWYER BLASTS $300 MILLION CREDITOR’S CLAIM

An attorney for MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate has branded a multi-million doll= ar lawsuit from a concert promoter as "frivolous and wholly without merit= .." Allgood Entertainment lawyers filed a $300 million (=C2=A3200 million) = creditor’s claim on Friday (19Feb10), demanding a share of profits from t= he hit This Is It documentary, which shows Jackson in rehearsals for his = ill-fated final tour.
In the suit, Jackson and his agent Frank Dileo are accused of pulling o= ut of Allgood’s planned Jackson 5 show to "secretly team up with AEG (Liv= e) to produce a concert or series of concerts in London." But attorney Howard Weitzman, who is representing Jackson’s estate in c= ourt, tells TMZ.com he plans to fight the allegations, insisting: "AllGoo= d’s creditor’s claim and its underlying lawsuit are frivolous and wholly = without merit." Company bosses at Allgood previously lodged a $300 million (=C2=A3200 m= illion) lawsuit in October (09) claiming the Thriller hitmaker refused to= join his siblings at the gig, despite his manager reportedly signing the= deal.
The huge sum will be added to a long list of creditor’s claims against = Jackson’s estate, which already exceeds $23 million (=C2=A314.4 million).=

MUELLER TO SUE REHAB CENTRE

CHARLIE SHEEN’s wife BROOKE MUELLER is preparing to file a lawsuit agains= t bosses at the Malibu, California rehab centre she checked into earlier = this month (Feb10) for allegedly violating her privacy.
Mueller was admitted to The Canyon on 9 February (10) to deal with pers= onal issues after a similar stay at a North Carolina wellness clinic, whe= re she spent a week recovering from an infection and a bout of pneumonia.
But she has now left The Canyon in favour of a quieter location, which = she reportedly entered on Monday (22Feb10), after a staff member allegedl= y leaked a detailed patient admissions document to the press.
The actress is now set to sue executives at The Canyon and plans "to ha= ve the individual responsible for leaking the information arrested," acco= rding to her lawyer, Yale Galanter.
He tells TMZ.com, "Brooke was forced to leave The Canyon rehab facility= because of the security breach." And Galanter reveals Mueller moved to a different treatment centre to a= void any other personal information being released to the public.
He adds, "(She is) in a private, more secure, confidential environment.= Brooke no longer feels she can go into a public facility because of the = breach of confidentiality The Canyon committed."

SHAKIRA VISITS OBAMA TO DISCUSS CHARITY CAMPAIGN

SHAKIRA has met with U.S. President BARACK OBAMA to discuss her charity c= ampaign to educate underprivileged kids across the world.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer, who is an ambassador for UNICEF and runs her= own charity The Barefoot Foundation, is calling for impoverished childre= n to be given better access to education.
And she took her campaign to the White House on Monday (22Feb10) to spe= ak to Obama about increasing investment in the scheme.
She says, "It was such a privilege to sit down with the President in th= e Oval Office to discuss our shared commitment to education and early chi= ldhood development. We agreed that investing in our children is the smart= est strategy governments can use to boost economic growth, fight poverty,= and promote global security and peace.
"We will be working closely with the President and his staff to impleme= nt his vision - for Latinos, children in the United States, and around th= e world." In December (09), Shakira spoke at England’s prestigious Oxford Univers= ity to discuss the same topic.
