LEWIS’ FEARS OVER RIDING ACCIDENT

LEONA LEWIS feared she would be left paralysed after her horse riding acc= ident last month (Jan10) - just like tragic SUPERMAN actor CHRISTOPHER RE= EVE.
The Bleeding Love hitmaker was left nursing a string of injuries after = she fell from her steed, but the brave singer was back in the saddle just= a week later.
And Lewis is grateful she escaped relatively unscathed, because her fir= st thought after the fall was late star Reeve, who was paralysed followin= g a riding accident in 1995.

BUCKLEY IN LINE FOR POSTHUMOUS MUSICAL=20

Late rocker JEFF BUCKLEY is set to wow audiences from beyond the grave - = his music will be featured in an upcoming musical adaptation of ROMEO AND= JULIET.
The Last Goodbye weaves Buckley’s songs including Lover, You Should’ve = Come Over and Eternal Life into Shakespeare’s story of star-crossed lover= s.
The rock ‘n’ roll stage adaptation is the first to be authorised by and= created in conjunction with the estate of the singer-songwriter.
A concert version of the show was met with enthusiasm last year (09) a= t New York’s Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater, when three dates sold out l= argely due to Buckley’s fanbase.
A full production is in the works and scheduled to debut during the 201= 0-2011 season, according to Daily Variety. A location for The Last Goodby= e musical has yet to be released.
Buckley recorded only a single studio album, Grace, in 1994 and gained = a cult following after his 1997 death, aged 30. Tracks for his unfinished= second album have been released posthumously following his accidental dr= owning.

Country singer JAMES OTTO is to become a first-time father with his wife = of five years.
Otto’s longtime partner Amy is expecting the couple’s first child in Au= gust (10).

ABBEY ROAD WINS PRESERVATION ORDER

THE BEATLES’ favourite recording studio ABBEY ROAD has been awarded histo= ric status by the British government to stop any radical development on t= he site.
The U.K.’s Culture Minister Margaret Hodge declared the iconic venue in= north-west London a Grade II listed building on Tuesday (23Feb10), on th= e advice of national preservation body English Heritage.
In a statement, the company’s Chief Executive Simon Thurley said the Ge= orgian building housing the studios "acts as a modern day monument to the= history of recorded sound and music." He adds, "Some of the most defining sounds of the 20th century were cre= ated within the walls of the Abbey Road Studios. It contains, quite simpl= y, the most famous recording studios in the world." The new status means that although changes to its interior can be made,= any proposed alterations must respect the character and preservation of = the site.
Sir Paul McCartney, part of the Fab Four who named their 1969 album aft= er the building, called for the studios to be saved after bosses at recor= d label giant EMI announced plans to sell the studio earlier this month.

MCGARRIGLE’S STRUGGLE REUNITED WAINWRIGHT FAMILY

Singer RUFUS WAINWRIGHT has credited his late mother KATE MCGARRIGLE with= bringing his family closer together - the star’s dad made contact after = years of estrangement when he learned of her cancer struggle.
Loudon Wainwright III and McGarrigle divorced when Rufus was just three= years old, and the relationship between father and son has been strained= ever since.
Rufus hit out at his dad in his 2003 track Dinner at Eight, while siste= r Martha penned the song Bloody Mother F**king A**hole about him.
But when Loudon learned his ex-wife was losing her three-year battle wi= th cancer, he dashed to her side - and Rufus is delighted the family has = reconciled.
He tells London’s Evening Standard, "My dad was absolutely marvellous f= or this whole period. He really came to the fore and protected his childr= en and reached out to his ex-wife and made a concerted effort to bury a l= ot of hatchets.

JONES WORRIES FOR WIFE

VINNIE JONES is always terrified when his wife falls ill - because a hear= t condition leaves her vulnerable to serious infections.
The Snatch star’s partner Tanya underwent a heart transplant operation = when she was just 21, following the birth of her daughter Kaley in 1987.
But the medication Tanya takes to stop her body rejecting the organ aff= ects her kidneys - leaving her susceptible to infections when she becomes= ill.
Jones says, "We don’t sit and talk about her health every day. But Tany= a has her medicine every 12 hours - in the morning and when she goes to b= ed - so it becomes a way of life.
"If she gets a chest infection or something it’s panic stations for us = because she’s more vulnerable. She doesn’t want to be a burden to anybody= .. She’s very strong like that. She would hate for Kaley or me to think th= at she was scared."

GOSSETT JR.: ‘I BEAT CANCER’

Oscar-winning actor LOUIS GOSSETT JR. has triumphed in his battle against= prostate cancer, insisting he has "beaten" the disease.
The An Officer and a Gentleman star announced earlier this month (Feb10= ) that he had started an intensive treatment program to combat the illnes= s, which was in its early stages.
In an interview on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Tuesday = (23Feb10), Gossett Jr. revealed he is now cancer-free - and urged other m= en to undergo regular medical examinations.

NAOMI CAMPBELL fought back tears as she accepted a prize for her charity = work at the Elle Style Awards, dedicating the honour to tragic designer A= LEXANDER MCQUEEN.
The supermodel was handed the outstanding contribution accolade by Sara= h Brown, the wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, at the annual c= eremony in London on Monday night (22Feb10).

DEPP CAMPAIGNS OVER MURDER CASE

JOHNNY DEPP has appealed to U.S. officials to reopen a murder case from 1= 994 - because he’s convinced the three convicted killers are innocent.
The Hollywood hunk has thrown his weight behind the campaign to free th= e West Memphis Three, a trio of men who were convicted as teenagers of be= ating three eight-year-old boys to death in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Depp believes the three men - Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jr. and= Jason Baldwin - never received a fair trial, and were convicted because = they were fans of heavy-metal music, Stephen King novels and the occult.
The actor has filmed a special appearance for Sunday night’s (28Feb10) = edition of U.S. show 48 Hours Mystery, appealing for the men to be freed = as soon as possible - because Echols is currently on death row.
He says, "I firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Miss= kelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate t= he community. Damien Echols is on death row to be killed by lethal inject= ion." Depp joins a long line of supporters of the West Memphis Three - Pearl = Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Metallica, Winona Ryder and the Dixie Chicks a= re all convinced the trio is innocent.

PROMOTER DEFENDS HOUSTON’S PERFORMANCE

A tour promoter has leaped to WHITNEY HOUSTON’s defence after she was cri= ticised for struggling through a two-hour concert in Australia on Monday = (22Feb10).
Fans gave mixed reviews after Houston’s lacklustre set at the Brisbane = Entertainment Centre, during which she was said to have been coughing and= taking short breaks to catch her breath.
But organiser Andrew McManus insists the show, the first of Houston’s s= hort trek Down Under, was a success.
He says, "I saw the whole show. Was it an A? No, it was probably a B+. = It was not a train wreck. She was hitting most of the notes. Yes, her thr= oat was a little croaky.
"Her health is fine but she’s also not 22 years of age anymore. She was= on stage for two-and-a-half hours dancing, singing, running. Was she a l= ittle out of breath on a couple of songs? Yes, she was. But I don’t apolo= gise for that, she had a red-hot go." And McManus admits Houston was "surprised" by her fans’ disappointment = - because she put her best effort into the gig.
He adds, "There were 9,500 people there (and) 9,000 gave her a standing= ovation. There were so many happy faces - that’s what she saw from the s= tage. So she’s surprised by the negativity the morning after.
"She went to bed after the show giving a two-and-a-half hour solid perf= ormance. She was proud of it. She thought she gave her all and did a stro= ng performance and I agreed with her. This was the first night of a tour = after a long flight; she hasn’t played for a while." Houston is next due to appear at the Acer Arena in Sydney on Wednesday = (24Feb10).

WILLIS TO DIE HARD ONCE MORE

BRUCE WILLIS is making plans to return to the DIE HARD franchise, confirm= ing a fifth instalment is in the works.
The actor kickstarted his career as a big-screen action man playing New= York cop John McClane in the 1988 blockbuster, which spawned three follo= w-ups.
Now the 54 year old is under negotiations to reprise the role - and he’= s already campaigning for 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard film-maker Len Wis= eman to helm the next project.
He says, "I think we’re going to do a Die Hard 5 next year. I would hir= e Len Wiseman right now (to direct)." Willis has even come up with ideas for a potential storyline: "It’s got= to go worldwide. That would be my contribution to it." But the veteran star admits he much prefers cop movies which mock the g= enre, adding, "I like so much more making fun of it, taking the p**s out = of it, not making it a big deal and not making the fact that I’ve acted i= n a lot of movies a big deal. LOPEZ LEAVES RECORD LABEL

JENNIFER LOPEZ’s musical comeback is facing a setback - the singer has pa= rted ways with her longtime record label.
The singer was due to release her seventh studio album, Love?, with Son= y’s Epic Records in April (10) but the project has been thrown into jeopa= rdy following her departure from the label.
Lopez’s exit comes amid reports the album has not yet been completed.
Her manager Benny Medina says in a statement: "Jennifer had a wonderful= relationship with the Sony Music Group, and they have shared many succes= ses together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves th= e direction of her career as an actress and recording artist. DICAPRIO LOVES AVATAR

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO has no hard feelings about JAMES CAMERON’s latest movie= AVATAR sinking TITANIC’s box office record - because he thinks the sci-f= i epic is "astounding".
The actor appeared in Cameron’s 1997 disaster movie, which set a new hi= gh in worldwide takings with $1.8 billion.
Avatar has now smashed Titanic’s massive record - it’s pulled in more t= han $2.4 billion since its release in December (09).
But DiCaprio is a big fan of the 3D film, and is full of praise for Cam= eron’s hard work on the epic.
He tells British morning show GMTV, "It’s an unbelievable film experien= ce, it really is. What Cameron pulled off on that movie - it’s astounding= , it blows your mind.

SIMPSON TARGETED BY PETA ACTIVISTS OVER PIG

JESSICA SIMPSON has been blasted by animal rights campaigners for her des= ire to adopt a pig - they’re accusing her of flaunting pets as her "lates= t accessory".
The Irresistible hitmaker was left devastated last year (09) when her b= eloved dog Daisy went missing, seemingly snatched by a coyote, and confes= sed she wanted another pet to dote on.
She took to her Twitter.com page on Monday (22Feb10) and told her follo= wers, "I’m thinking about getting a pet pig. Does this mean I’ll have to = give up pork?" But activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) hav= e hit out at Simpson for considering owning the farm pet.
A PETA spokesperson tells USmagazine.com, "Pigs, who are smarter than d= ogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don’t belong in Jessic= a’s stomach or carted around as her latest accessory." The comments come just months after Paris Hilton was slammed by PETA ch= iefs for adopting a pot bellied pig.

LEONA LEWIS is flaunting a new slimline figure after dropping two dress s= izes on a drastic detox diet.
The Bleeding Love hitmaker was a curvy U.K. size 14 (U.S. 10) last summ= er (09) when she decided to embark on a healthier lifestyle to shed the p= ounds.
And now she’s showing off a trim U.K. 10 (U.S. 4) waistline.
She tells Britain’s Closer magazine, "I went on a detox at the end of s= ummer last year and basically ate vegetables and nothing processed.
"I didn’t drink anything but water for a month! I usually drink lots of= water anyway, so it wasn’t a crazy, dramatic change to my lifestyle, but= I just really wanted to try it and see how I felt.
"I only did the detox for a little while, but it must have kick-started= something in me because everyone keeps saying, ‘Wow, you’ve lost weight!= ‘ and I’m like: ‘Cool!’ I love chocolate (so) it was so hard for me! But = I thought, ‘It’s only a few weeks. You can have it, but it’ll make you fa= t! So do you want that or to be healthy and feel great?’"
