JACKSON’S CAPTAIN EO REINSTATED AT DISNEYLAND

MICHAEL JACKSON is returning to Disneyland from beyond the grave - the la= te King of Pop’s 3-D movie CAPTAIN EO is heading back to the big screen a= t the California theme park.
The 17-minute film closed as an attraction at the venue in 1997, but Di= sney bosses have decided to bring back the 1986 space adventure in place = of the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience attraction.
The musical re-opened on Tuesday (23Feb10) at the Tomorrowland theatre = and will run indefinitely, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Disneyland executives previously held a special screening of Captain EO= last September (09), when they closed the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience s= how for one day to allow Jackson’s three children to see their dad’s futu= ristic musical.
Jackson died in June (09).

JACKSON’S ‘WARDROBE MALFUNCTION’ FINE RECONSIDERED

JANET JACKSON’s infamous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction is hitting headl= ines again - U.S. judges are re-examining the $550,000 (=C2=A3343,750) fi= ne initially levelled at America’s CBS TV network.
CBS bosses aired the half-time performance at the 2004 American footbal= l game, during which Justin Timberlake ripped off part of Jackson’s top t= o reveal an almost bare breast.
The original indecency case was thrown out on the grounds the breast-ba= ring incident, which lasted nine-sixteenths of a second, was too fleeting= to warrant a fine.
But the issue returned to court last May (09), when a U.S. Supreme Cour= t judge asked for the fine to be reconsidered, directing officials at the= 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to re-op= en the investigation.
Proceedings to consider whether the Federal Communications Commission (= FCC) fine is permissible began on Tuesday (23Feb10).

ABDUL LANDS TV DEAL WITH OPRAH

PAULA ABDUL is following in the footsteps of talk show queen OPRAH WINFRE= Y after signing a deal for her own TV series on the mogul’s new broadcast= ing network.
Abdul stepped down from her last TV job, as a judge on hit reality show= American Idol, in August (09) following an alleged pay dispute. She has = since been replaced by chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.
But Abdul is preparing to relaunch her small screen career by taping a = one-hour pilot episode for the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). The programme= will reportedly feature celebrity guests and people telling inspirationa= l stories in a similar format to the media mogul’s current U.S. chat show= ..
Meanwhile, the Straight Up hitmaker continues to fuel rumours she’s to = rejoin former American Idol colleague Simon Cowell as a panelist on the U= ..S. version of his British talent show The X Factor.
Last week (ends21Feb10), Abdul told reporters: "I’m going back to my ro= ots and doing a TV show that has something to do with my roots. I knew th= at I would not be able to say certain things. LL COOL J IS A STUNTMAN

LL COOL J is determined to complete all of his own stunts on NCIS: LOS AN= GELES - because he wants to make sure the TV show looks real.
The rapper-turned-actor plays a special agent in the navy cop drama opp= osite Chris O’Donnell.
And although LL Cool J has a stunt double on set, he performs as many a= ction scenes as possible in the NCIS spin-off series.
He tells Digital Spy, "I do have a stunt double, but I like to do a lot= of the stunts myself because I think that people should be able to see m= e doing it. As long as I’m not laying under a guillotine or getting kicke= d in the face by a horse, it will be me doing the stunts. I’ll let the st= unt guy do the bad stuff, but I like to do what I can. I hope that I’m in= great shape in two years so that I’m able to do more stunts and action s= cenes. I really enjoy that aspect of the show."

SINITTA FEELS ‘TWINGE OF JEALOUSY’ OVER COWELL’S ROMANCE

SINITTA would be "reeling" with jealousy over SIMON COWELL’s new romance = with MEZHGAN HUSSAINY - if she hadn’t already found love with a millionai= re businessman.
The former pop star dated Cowell on and off for 20 years after the musi= c mogul signed her to his record label, but they parted ways several yea= rs ago amid reports the music mogul didn’t want to settle down.
Cowell recently struck up a new relationship with make-up artist Hussai= ny, and although Sinitta is happy for her old pal, she still feels a "twi= nge of jealousy" over their failed love affair.
But she insists her new boyfriend, champagne businessman Stefano Zagni,= has helped her feel happy.
She tells Hello! magazine, "(Mezhgan) appears to have achieved the seem= ingly impossibly by getting my once determinedly unwed mate and mentor to= consider not only the prospect of marriage but also of starting a family= ..

WONDER TO BE HONOURED BY DISABILITY ORGANISATION

Blind soul legend STEVIE WONDER will be honoured by the American Associat= ion of People with Disabilities (AAPD) with the organisation’s first ever= Image Award.
The Superstition star, who was born blind, has established himself as a= musical icon since signing his first record deal at the age of 11.
Andrew J. Imparato, President and CEO of AAPD, insists Wonder’s career = achievements prove he is the perfect recipient of the accolade, which wil= l be presented to the 59 year old at the AAPD’s annual Leadership Gala in= Washington, D.C. next month (10Mar10).
Imparato says, "Stevie Wonder is a global leader who has used his extra= ordinary talents to be an ambassador for civil rights and social justice.= We’re thrilled to be able to recognise his achievements with this inaugu= ral award."

HUSKY, DEAN, WILLIAMS & SHERRILL LAND HALL OF FAME HONOURS

Music legends FERLIN HUSKY, JIMMY DEAN, DON WILLIAMS and producer BILLY S= HERRILL are among the Country Music Hall of Fame’s 2010 inductees.
On Tuesday (23Feb10), bosses at The Country Music Association announced= they will bestow the genre’s highest honour upon the four stars at a Nas= hville, Tennessee ceremony later this year (10).
Husky, 84, and Dean, 81, both top-selling artists in the 1950s and ’60s= , were both selected as Veterans Era Artists. The musicians are both cred= ited with expanding the influence of country music due to their regular a= ppearances on television, and Dean’s numerous film roles, including a sup= porting part in James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.
Seventy-year-old Williams, who recorded 17 number one hits in the U.S.,= also enjoyed cross-over success, with film credits including Smokey and = the Bandit II, while Sherrill, 73, shaped the careers of country music ar= tists including Tammy Wynette and George Jones.
Their induction will boost the Country Music Hall of Fame’s number of e= ntrants from 108 to 112.

BEACHAM WANTS TO MARRY

DYNASTY star STEPHANIE BEACHAM is considering marriage after finding love= with a doctor - despite previously swearing off relationships altogether= ..
The actress, who was married to John McEnery between 1973 and 1978, adm= its she wasn’t looking for love when she began dating Bernie Greenwood in= 2008 when they were introduced by a mutual friend.
But she’s now so smitten with the physician, she’s considering another = walk down the aisle.
She tells Hello! magazine, "(Marriage is) definitely to be considered. = (It’s) on the radar… You don’t necessarily expect to find the L-word wh= en you’re over 60. I had decided that I would forget boys - I couldn’t be= bothered with them any more. I hate to say it, but (upon meeting) I just= folded into his arms. MACPHERSON BACKS WOMEN’S CHARITY CAMPAIGN

ELLE MACPHERSON is backing a British charity campaign to increase awarene= ss of women’s health in a bid to drive down cervical cancer rates.
The supermodel has lent her support to Wellbeing of Women, which funds = screenings and vaccinations for females in the U.K.
And Macpherson is urging women to visit their doctor regularly for heal= th checks.
She says, "Many women don’t take time out to be checked routinely, some= times choosing to ignore it or worry about being checked. HARRELSON PREDICTS OSCAR DISAPPOINTMENT

WOODY HARRELSON is expecting to go home a loser on Oscar night (07Mar10) = - because he’s convinced he’s the worst actor in his category.
Harrelson lost his first chance at Oscar gold to Geoffrey Rush in 1997,= when he was up for Best Leading Actor in The People vs. Larry Flynt.
Thirteen years on, the Messenger star is facing stiff competition from = Christopher Plummer (The Last Station), Matt Damon (Invictus), Stanley Tu= cci (The Lovely Bones) and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) in the = Best Supporting Actor category.
And Harrelson’s certain he’s going home empty-handed.

SMITH PLANS HOCKEY MOVIE BASED ON ZEVON SONG

Director KEVIN SMITH is planning to honour late rocker WARREN ZEVON by tu= rning one of his songs into a new movie.
Smith is working on a screenplay for Hit Somebody, which was penned by = writer Mitch Albom, about an ice hockey star with a talent for fighting.
The song was released in 2002, a year before Zevon lost his battle with= cancer, aged 56.
Hockey fan Smith will serve as writer and director of the film, which i= s slated for release in 2011.
He tells WENN, "I never would’ve gotten my head around adapting a song = particularly because it’s never really worked out; I mean look at Convoy = (film with Kris Kristofferson based on the song by Paul Brandt) for Chris= t’s sake. But I could use this song as a vehicle from which to tell an in= sanely personal story.
"I identify with the story of the guy who’s part of the hockey league w= ho’s playing professional hockey, but he’s there just because he can beat= people up. He loves the game so much, like I do, but he’s not that good = at it and I identify with that in a big, bad way so I have a story using = that and I’ll build a script around it." And Smith, currently promoting new film Cop Out, is hoping it’ll be a b= ig hit: "It takes place between 1950 and 1980 and it’s just a big fat Val= entine to the game and in particular to Canada. I’m looking to make the F= orest Gump of sports movies."

AVATAR BREAKS IMAX BOX OFFICE RECORD

JAMES CAMERON’s sci-fi fantasy AVATAR has broken another record after bec= oming the highest grossing film in IMAX history.
The Oscar-nominated movie has already shattered box office records in t= he U.K. and U.S., and boasts a worldwide total of $2.4 billion, 10 weeks = into its release.
IMAX bosses have now reported its portion of worldwide earnings passed = $200 million (=C2=A3125 million) on Sunday (21Feb10).
The figure far surpasses previous high grossers The Dark Knight, which = earned $66 million (=C2=A341.3 million) for IMAX during its initial 2008 = release, and The Polar Express, which has earned $71 million (=C2=A344.4 = million) from several seasonal releases since its 2004 debut.

FREEMAN LANDS CINEMATOGRAPHERS HONOUR

MORGAN FREEMAN is set to follow in the footsteps of stars including STEVE= N SPIELBERG and MARTIN SCORSESE after landing a coveted prize from the Am= erican Society of Cinematographers (ASC).
The veteran actor will be handed the Board of Governors Award for "sign= ificant contributions to advancing the art of filmmaking" at a ceremony i= n Los Angeles on Saturday (27Feb10).
ASC president Michael Goi tells Variety.com, "Morgan Freeman is a consu= mmate actor and producer who devotes his considerable talent and influenc= e to projects that make a difference." SIMMONS LANDS NEW COMEDY SERIES

Hip-hop mogul RUSSELL SIMMONS is planning to give U.S. TV audiences a lau= gh, after signing a deal to co-produce a new stand-up comedy show.
Simmons and producer Stan Lathan are following up their hit HBO program= me Def Comedy Jam with the as-yet-untitled series for Comedy Central.
The pair’s previous TV venture launched the careers of comics including= Chris Tucker, Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey, Mo’Nique an= d the late Bernie Mac.
Curb Your Enthusiasm star JB Smoove will host the half hour show, which= will feature three new comics in each episode.
