GOODE SLAMS LEAP YEAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

MATTHEW GOODE has slammed his new movie LEAP YEAR as "turgid" - insisting= the AMY ADAMS movie will be labelled "the worst film of 2010." The Brit plays the Enchanted star’s love interest in the new romantic c= omedy, which tells the story of an American woman travelling to Dublin, I= reland to propose to her boyfriend on 29 February during a leap year.
But Goode insists he only took the role because the shoot was filming o= n location close to his home in Britain.
He says, "It’s turgid. I just know that there are a lot of people who w= ill say it is the worst film of 2010.
"(The location) was the main reason I took it - so that I could come ho= me at the weekends. It wasn’t because of the script, trust me. I was told= it was going to be like The Quiet Man with a Vaughan Williams soundtrack= , but in the end it turned out to have pop music all over it. Do I feel I= let myself down? No. Was it a bad job? Yes, it was. But, you know, I had= a nice time and I got paid." And Goode doesn’t regret speaking out against the film - he is adamant = actors should be free to tell the truth about their work.
He adds, "Because of the way my repartee comes out, people tend to thin= k that I don’t care. Actually, it’s often just a result of my being in a = situation where I’m embarrassed about having to talk about a film which I= don’t think is that brilliant - but obviously I can’t say that. I do thi= nk that it’s important that one should be able to speak out without worry= ing about causing offence, or whatever. And it saddens me that the romant= icism has been ripped out of being an actor. It wasn’t like that in Peter= O’Toole’s time, was it?"

U.K. TO RULE ON SNOOP DOGG BAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

SNOOP DOGG will find out within weeks whether he can re-enter Britain - t= he U.K. Asylum and Immigration Tribunal is to make a ruling on whether th= e rapper will be allowed back in the country.
The hip-hop star, real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus, is barred from tra= velling to the U.K. after he was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport in= 2006 following a fracas, and he’s previously urged stars including David= Beckham and Sir Paul McCartney to help get the ban overturned.
The Drop It Like It’s Hot hitmaker appealed the ruling and in January 2= 008 Judge Nehar Bird overturned the ban, saying there was no evidence Bro= adus had been responsible for the fracas.
But government officials took the case to the Court of Appeal, where it= was decided that the judge may have "misinterpreted the test of exclusio= n".
Broadus is now fighting for the ban to be lifted once again, reports th= e Wall Street Journal.
The star’s agent, Brent Smith at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment,= says, "Snoop has missed out on several arena tour opportunities, many TV= and festival opportunities, as well as a few proposed charity events… = And now the U.K. taxpayer is financing the court appeals." The battle to overturn the ban has now picked up pace - last month (Jan= 10) a court hearing was held in London, where two senior immigration judg= es watched a video of the airport incident.
In the hearing, the lawyer representing the government, Jeremy Johnson,= claimed the incident shows what happens in the rapper’s world "when some= thing does go wrong. Mr. Broadus may react badly and may threaten violenc= e." But Broadus’ lawyer, Amanda Weston, argued: "This has become a minister= defending a decision rather than a careful review" of the facts.
