The brother of former Olympic figure skater NANCY KERRIGAN has been place= d under house arrest in Massachusetts after posting bail for assault and = battery charges relating to the death of his father.
Mark Kerrigan was arrested after his 70-year-old dad Daniel Kerrigan wa= s found unconscious in the kitchen of the family home in Stoneham, Massac= husetts on 24 January (10).
He pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerou= s weapon on an elderly person and causing serious bodily injury.
Court officials in Woburn, Massachusetts released the 45 year old from = a local detention centre after posting his $10,000 (=C2=A36,250) bail on = Wednesday (24Feb10).
As part of the conditions of the bail, Kerrigan will live at his mother= ’s home and must wear a Global Positioning System (GPS) device, submit to= alcohol and drug screening and receive mental health counselling.
According to the Middlesex Chief Medical Examiner, Daniel Kerrigan died= from cardiac dysrhythmia after suffering a neck injury during a physical= altercation at his home.
Reports also indicate Daniel Kerrigan suffered a cartilage fracture to = the larynx area - exacerbated by heart disease.
The investigation continues.

Actor JOEY LAWRENCE’s pregnant wife CHANDI YAWN-NELSON has been diagnosed= with a rare blood disorder that could threaten the life of their unborn = daughter.

JENNIFER LOPEZ has assured fans over the future of her new album LOVE? af= ter parting ways with her longtime music label - the record is set for re= lease this summer (10).

Lopez says, "I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion = in regards to my next album, titled Love. I have belonged to the Sony fam= ily since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we’ve had g= reat success.
"I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities with Sony/Epic up to = this point, and we have both reached friendly terms about my departure fr= om the label.

HARRISON FORD has been blasted by environmental activists for making "unn= ecessary" trips by air - following revelations he once made a jet journey= to buy a cheeseburger.
The Indiana Jones star began flying when he was 52 and after gaining hi= s licence went on to purchase several aircraft, which he keeps at Santa M= onica Airport in California.
He recently revealed in an interview the extent of his love for pilotin= g, telling Britain’s Live magazine, "Learning to fly was a work of art. MATT DAMON is preparing to follow in the footsteps of stars including CAS= EY AFFLECK and MARTIN SHEEN by playing tragic U.S. Senator ROBERT F. KENN= EDY.
The actor is in talks to star in a new biopic about the politician, who= was assassinated in 1968, just five years after his brother President Jo= hn F. Kennedy was gunned down in Dallas, Texas.
Kennedy has previously been portrayed on screen by Sheen in 1974 TV mov= ie The Missiles of October, by Affleck in The Kennedys of Massachusetts, = and more recently by Dave Fraunces in 2006’s Bobby.
Now Damon is considering tackling the role in the untitled project with= Seabiscuit director Gary Ross, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Singer JAMIE CULLUM will share his jazz expertise with fans as the host o= f a new British radio show.
The I’m All Over It hitmaker is taking to the airwaves on BBC Radio 2 t= o front a weekly segment, which will feature live performances and star i= nterviews.

Former JOY DIVISION star PETER HOOK recently completed one of the band’s = lost songs 30 years after the group dissolved - but he’s refusing to reco= rd the track because he won’t "make any money" from it.
The band ended in 1980 following the suicide of frontman Ian Curtis but= the three remaining rockers stayed together and renamed themselves New O= rder.
Hook recently completed work on one of Joy Division’s unfinished tracks= , Pictures, and debuted the song at a gig in Manchester, England earlier = this month (Feb10).
But the bassist has no plans to record the song, because he fears illeg= al internet downloading will prevent the track from making a profit.
He tells Britain’s NME magazine, "The odd thing in that situation is th= at you can’t sell it and once you’ve recorded it, it’s gone and people wi= ll just download it for free. So for me to go in and record it… we coul= d do it but the fact that we wouldn’t make the money back on it stops me = from doing it." Hook also insists he only finished the song as a tribute to his late pa= l Curtis: "On one tape was a little snippet of a jam with Ian Curtis sing= ing along to a song called Pictures. I was playing on it but it was unfin= ished. Ian used to say to me that every song that you start, you should f= inish, and it’s something that has always stuck with me."

Former SKID ROW drummer PHIL VARONE has filed a lawsuit against the band’= s guitarist DAVID SABO and bassist JAMES SOUTHWORTH accusing the rockers = of "spreading lies" and destroying his reputation.
Varone, who drummed for the ’80s glam rock band from 2000 to 2003, file= d the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on 5 February (10).
He claims the Sabo and Southworth "have embarked on a crusade to spread= vicious lies about Varone in an effort to destroy his professional and p= ersonal reputation" and "to prevent him from truthfully describing his ca= reer history as the drummer for Skid Row, by contending that his use of t= he band name is trademark infringement".
Last year (09), Varone appeared on U.S. reality TV show Sex Rehab With = Dr. Drew, where he claimed to have slept with more than 3,000 women. He c= laims Sabo, Southworth and their lawyer contacted night clubs and talk sh= ow producers for Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks ahead of his scheduled appe= arances, and used his connection with Sex Rehab to successfully prevent h= im from being identified as a former drummer of Skid Row.
In addition, he claims the pair "had falsely informed people that Varon= e had slept with Sabo’s wife, that Varone is a cocaine addict and that Va= rone is a liar," adding, "Its (Skid Row’s) complete omission from a descr= iption of Varone’s professional experience deprives Varone from the benef= its of his experience as a professional studio and live musician and rock= star who toured the world, gave countless interviews, made hundreds of a= ppearances and amassed thousands of fans worldwide." Varone is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. R&B star AKON has quit his London radio show after just one broadcast.
The Smack That hitmaker recently signed up to host a two-hour programme= every Saturday night on Capital FM.
His radio debut aired on 13 February (10), but the timeslot’s previous = host filled in for the star last week (20Feb10).
Now bosses at the station have confirmed Akon won’t be returning.
A spokesman for Global Radio, the company which owns Capital FM, tells = Guardian Online, "Due to Akon’s commitments, including working on a brand= new album, we won’t be broadcasting a regular show on 95.8 Capital FM fo= r the time being. Our conversations about future shows are ongoing as we = explore other opportunities that may work for both of us."

FABOLOUS’ New York concert on Saturday night (20Feb10) came to a sudden h= alt after an inebriated club promoter jumped on stage and began rapping w= ith the star.

Rockers FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE have agreed to pay publishing royalties = to a New York band after using the group’s lyrics in hit single RABBIT HE= ART (RAISE IT UP).
Members of Gang Gang Dance approached bosses at Florence and the Machin= e’s Island record label after noticing the track featured a melody and ph= rase from their own 2008 song House Jam.
The British musicians admit it was a mistake not to acknowledge Gang Ga= ng Dance, instead crediting frontwoman Florence Welch and producer Paul E= pworth in the liner notes for Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up).
Welch says, "It’s no secret. I’ve spoken about it in interviews before.= I’m a massive fan of Gang Gang Dance and it was in homage to them." A spokesperson for Gang Gang Dance’s publisher Warp adds, "They (Island= ) did acknowledge the infringement and said that they were aware of it." =

TWILIGHT star KELLAN LUTZ has called on fans of the franchise to support = People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)’s new adoption campaig= n.
The actor adopted his two dogs, Kola and Kevin, from a shelter - and he= ’s urging followers of the vampire films to consider heading to their loc= al rescue centre to help animals in need.
He says, "There are surprisingly many animals in these shelters. It’s s= ad, and knowing that they get euthanized.
