CAMERON’S AVATAR WINS BIG AT NEW 3D AWARDS SHOW
JAMES CAMERON has won more trophies for his mantelpiece after his sci-fi = epic AVATAR triumphed at the inaugural Lumiere Awards on Tuesday (23Feb10= ).
The world’s highest grossing film of all time was the toast of the 3D S= ociety’s first annual ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood,= winning statues for best Live-Action 3D Feature, best 3D character (Neyt= iri, played by Zoe Saldana) and achievement for marketing 3D content, amo= ng others.
Avatar star Giovanni Ribisi stepped onstage to accept the prizes on beh= alf of the filmmakers.
Pixar’s family favourite Up was named the Best 3D Feature, while Imax’s= Under the Sea 3D was selected as the best documentary.
Brendan Fraser was also honoured with the 3D Talent award for performin= g in and producing Journey to the Center of the Earth.
