WELCH WAS DISCOVERED IN NIGHTCLUB
British singer FLORENCE WELCH’s career began with a lucky break - she was= discovered on a night out in a club.
The Florence And The Machine frontwoman, who picked up the best album h= onour for Lungs at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday (16Feb10), was partying at = London’s Soho Revue Bar when Queens of Noize DJ Mairead Nash overheard he= r singing in the restroom.
And Nash was so impressed with Welch’s talent, she became her manager.
The singer says, "(Nash) runs these club nights, she=E2=80=99s one of t= he Queens of Noize, and we were in the toilets and talking about boys and= I was quite drunk.
"I remember I was wearing a full tuxedo and I was chancing it because I= knew she put on club nights and I was like: =E2=80=98I=E2=80=99m a singe= r. I can sing=E2=80=99 and the acoustics in toilets are quite fun. And I = sang for her and she liked it and she booked me to play her Christmas par= ty.
