MCGREGOR: ‘DISNEY DIDN’T WANT A GAY SCROOGE’
Scottish movie star EWAN MCGREGOR has explained the delay of his new movi= e, I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS - Disney bosses didn’t want young film fans = thinking their EBENEZER SCROOGE was gay.
The film, in which McGregor and Jim Carrey play lovers, was initially s= lated for release last year (09), but movie bosses behind the A Christmas= Carol blockbuster feared Carrey’s portrayal of a gay man would confuse t= heir audience, according to the Scot.
McGregor tells the new issue of Out magazine, "There was talk that Disn= ey fended off the release until after A Christmas Carol came out. They di= dn=E2=80=99t want kids thinking Ebenezer Scrooge was a bender." I Love You Phillip Morris, which was a sensation at last year’s (Jan09)= Sundance Film Festival in Utah, will finally hit cinemas at the end of M= arch (10).
