LOVELY BONES MARKED NEW START FOR JACKSON
PETER JACKSON was thrilled to direct emotional drama THE LOVELY BONES - b= ecause it was such a contrast to his LORD OF THE RINGS franchise.
The moviemaker headed up the fantasy trilogy, which raked in more than = $2.7 billion at the worldwide box office in the early 2000s.
He was keen to move on from his association with big-screen blockbuster= s, following the success of 2005’s King Kong - and relished the chance to= helm the adaption of Alice Sebold’s bestselling book.
He tells Sky News, "It wasn’t the reason why we made it but it was cert= ainly part of the attraction - the fact it was so different.
"After four big fantasy special effects films in a row I wanted to spen= d the next two years doing something that had a whole new set of challeng= es. And The Lovely Bones, a terrific book, it seemed like the perfect pro= ject."
