J DILLA REMEMBERED WITH YOUTH CHARITY

The family of late hip-hop producer J DILLA is launching a youth charity = in his memory.
The former Slum Village pioneer, real name James Dewitt Yancey, died fr= om complications related to auto-immune disease lupus in February 2006, a= ged 32.
But his family is determined his legacy will live on through the J Dill= a Foundation, which will create scholarships for inner-city youngsters in= volved in music programs and launch new initiatives across the U.S. this = year (10).
The star’s mother Maureen Yancey says, "One of the things Dilla wanted = me to do with his legacy was to use it to help others, people with illnes= s, and kids who were musically gifted but had little hope due to poverty.
"The Foundation is to keep Dilla’s dream alive to help youth - those wh= o aspire to make good music - and develop their time, talent, and nurture= their skill. We also want to be there financially for those who are tale= nted but don’t have the money or access to the networks they need to help= them grow."

OSBOURNE CHANGES ALBUM NAME AFTER FAN OUTCRY

OZZY OSBOURNE decided against naming his new album SOUL SUCKA - after dis= covering his online fans hated the name.
The Black Sabbath star’s latest musical offering is set to hit shelves = in June (10), but Osbourne admits he’s still considering options for the = record’s title.
He tells RollingStone.com, "When we put that on the internet none of my= fan base liked the title. They were like, ‘I can’t imagine me walking ar= ound the f**king house with the words ‘Soul Sucka’ on my T-shirt.’ So I w= as like, ‘F**k it. HILL & MCGRAW HONOURED FOR CHARITY WORK

FAITH HILL and TIM MCGRAW were honoured for their tireless work for cance= r charities at a star-studded event in Los Angeles on Wednesday (27Jan10)= night.
Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon and cancer survivor Christina Applegate= turned out to watch the country music couple receive the Courage Award a= t the annual fundraiser for the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women= ’s Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).
McGraw’s father Tug passed away in 2004 after he was diagnosed with a b= rain tumour, shortly after the Tug McGraw Foundation was established to h= elp the quality of life for cancer sufferers.
And Hill, who is a longterm supporter of the WCRF, is full of admiratio= n for her late father-in-law’s determination to help others.
She says, "Cancer took the life of my father-in-law. He was a brave man= during his fight towards the end. His wish was to create an organisation= that provided a better way of life for cancer patients and money towards= research." McGraw adds, "I grew up with my mom and two sisters and now I have a ho= use full of women, my wife and my three daughters, so anything that advan= ces the research for cancer and advances the chances of finding cures, I’= m all for." Swift performed at the lavish ceremony - and admits she felt compelled = to take part in the charity fundraiser because of her personal experience= s of the disease.
She adds, "Being a part of this cause means a lot to me because my fami= ly’s been touched by cancer several times. To be here raising awareness f= or early detection is very important and I’ve heard they’re going to be r= aising close to $2 million tonight - it’s inspiring."

BALDWIN: ‘I’M NOT A HANDS-ON DAD’

STEPHEN BALDWIN relies on his wife KENNYA to take over main parenting dut= ies in their household - because he believes women make better guardians.
The Usual Suspects star, who has two teenage daughters with his Brazili= an partner, admits he missed out on large parts of his kids’ early years = while away on movie sets.
But he insists Kennya is better equipped to look after the girls - beca= use she’s much more patient.
Appearing on U.K. talk show Loose Women, Baldwin explains, "No (I’m not= hands-on). I don’t care if this just sounds obvious - women are smarter = than men. They have more wisdom, they have more patience. Men are beasts = and women are beast-lovers, isn’t that something, how that works? "I’ll be honest. In the first year, (I was) extremely hands-on. I love = my kids. But then with work and everything (I am away). But I have always= brought my wife and children with me on location wherever I go. Because = that’s the way I was raised, I’m the youngest of six kids. My dad was a s= choolteacher and it was a pretty normal upbringing."

MCKELLEN COLLECTS FOR HAITI

LIU IS BROADWAY BOUND

LUCY LIU is set to grace the New York stage - the CHARLIE’S ANGELS star h= as landed a role on Broadway.
The actress will make her Broadway debut in God of Carnage on 2 March (= 10), joining Dylan Baker, Jeff Daniels and Janet McTeer, in the comedy ab= out two couples who clash over a fight between their children.
Daniels was in the comedy’s original cast, but will return to tackle a = new role, according to the Associated Press.

JERICHO ARRESTED FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION

Professional wrestler CHRIS JERICHO was arrested in Kentucky on Wednesday= (27Jan10) after he was found to be "extremely intoxicated" in public.
Jericho, who fronts the heavy metal band Fozzy, and fellow wrestler Gre= g Helms were taken into custody in Kenton County after cops apprehended t= he duo for "alcohol intoxication in a public place", reports TMZ.com.

JOHNNY SEVEN DIES

Character actor JOHNNY SEVEN has died after losing his battle with lung c= ancer.
Seven - real name John Anthony Fetto II - died of complications from th= e disease at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Calif= ornia on Friday (22Jan10). He was 83.
He began his career performing in New York plays, and later co-wrote, d= irected, produced and starred in 1964’s Navajo Run.
Seven also landed big-screen roles in The Last Mile with Mickey Rooney = as well as 1960’s Guns of the Timberland, before racking up a number of T= V credits with bit parts in shows such as Chips, Bonanza, Charlie’s Angel= s, Batman and Gunsmoke.

MAYER BLASTS PERFUME-PEDDLING POP STARS

JOHN MAYER has taken aim at the crop of celebrities who make money by bot= tling their own brand of perfume.
The guitarist admits he is trying to come up with ways to expand his ca= reer, including plans for a new variety series, John Mayer Has a TV Show,= and by taking a side job writing blogs for the website Gawker.com.
But he insists he would never try to turn a profit by selling fans his = own fragrance.
He says, "I’ve always just been stupidly curious about stuff; I’m not d= iversifying in terms of selling anything. I’m not selling ‘John Mayer: th= e cologne’. If I did it would just smell like sausage and sleep. I don’t = look at my fans and think, ‘Wow, they really like what I do musically. Im= agine if I could get 60 more dollars out of them!’ Who out there really g= oes, ‘You know what, I just f**king love perfumes. I always have since I = was a kid. Records in the Louisiana State Department of Revenue indicate Spears an= d Federline are free to claim the sum at any time.

MONJACK PROVIDED FOR FINANCIALLY-HIT MURPHY

BRITTANY MURPHY’s widower SIMON MONJACK has slammed speculation he relied= on the star for money, insisting he supported the actress financially.
Rumours about the couple’s relationship have been rife since the Cluele= ss star, who married him in 2007, died at their Hollywood home last month= (Dec09) after suffering a cardiac arrest.
But Monjack is adamant the speculation is unfair - as it was he who pai= d for their sprawling mansion and supported them financially.
He tells the Daily Beast, "I spent over a million on her engagement rin= gs. And probably $3 million on clothes. When Brittany died, she had 60 pi= eces of unworn Louis Vuitton. The dog had Louis Vuitton. This was all me.= We kept our money separate. When I took Brittany out shopping, I paid fo= r everything." Monjack even alleges he helped the star when she was struggling to make= ends meet, adding: "Brittany’s films had grossed $100 million before she= met me. But her career had ended before then. She had gone through four = or five agents by the time we met and she had made a lot of indies that w= ent straight to video. She hadn’t earned millions in years, and when we m= et she was struggling financially, from a series of bad investments. She = trusted some people who she shouldn’t have. There are people in Hollywood= living off of young successful boys and girls and getting them to invest= in things they shouldn’t."

MONJACK TRIED TO REVIVE DYING MURPHY

Grieving SIMON MONJACK has opened up about the morning BRITTANY MURPHY pa= ssed away, revealing he could feel the actress’ heart pulsing as he despe= rately tried to revive her.
Monjack, who married the Clueless star in 2007, has been in mourning si= nce the 32 year old suffered a cardiac arrest at her Hollywood Hills home= on 20 December (09).
And he admits he is still haunted by the moment he tried in vain to bri= ng Murphy back to life on their bathroom floor.
The star’s body was discovered by her mum Sharon, who then shouted out = for Simon. He desperately tried to revive his wife but she died in his ar= ms.
He tells the Daily Beast, "I came running in. I immediately started doi= ng CPR. I felt a tiny heart beat. I was pushing with the heel of my hand.= And every second I pushed, I felt my hand become stronger and her heart = weaker. And then it stopped. And I kept pushing. She died in my arms. I k= new she was dead…
"I hope no one ever has to go through what I did - to lose the love of = your life in front of your eyes. It was all a surreal nightmare." Murphy’s cause of death has been deferred until the results of a toxico= logy report are completed.

Australian guitarist RED SYMONS has opened up for the first time about hi= s son’s battle with cancer.
The rocker-turned-presenter and his wife Elly were devastated when thei= r now-18-year-old son Samuel was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumou= r when he was aged four.
Doctors told Symons it was likely the youngster would die - and left th= e worried parents to decide whether to risk stunting his physical and men= tal health with radiation treatment.

SUSAN BOYLE’s brother is petrified his famous sister will be assassinated= like BEATLES legend JOHN LENNON, after the singer found an intruder insi= de her home.
The Scottish sensation called cops after returning to her house in West= Lothian, Scotland on Tuesday (26Jan10) to find a man roaming around the = property.

OSMOND PAYS TRIBUTE TO HAITIAN SURVIVORS

MARIE OSMOND paid tribute to citizens of earthquake-devastated Haiti as s= he picked up a woman of the year award for her charity work at the weeken= d (23Jan10).
The singer was honoured by the Nevada Ballet Theatre for her foundation= , the Children’s Miracle Network, which treats ill youngsters and has rai= sed more than $3.6 billion since the 1980s.

She tells ETOnline.com, "I think the most important thing is the arts a= re related whether you sing, whether you dance, whatever. They formed circles and d= anced and sang and lifted their spirits.
