ROCK OF AGES star CONSTANTINE MAROULIS has split from his socialite girlf= riend TINSLEY MORTIMER, according to reports.
The former American Idol rocker-turned-Broadway star began romancing th= e pretty blonde in November (09), but they’ve now called off their relati= onship - and Mortimer is said to have flown straight to the Sundance Film= Festival in Utah to enjoy the single life.

CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG STRUGGLES WITH DAD’S LEGACY

French actress/singer CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG is terrified of playing music = on-stage - because she’s convinced she’ll never live up to her late fathe= r SERGE.
Charlotte made her singing debut when she was just 13, duetting with he= r dad Serge on the 1984 track Lemon Incest - but she’s never gained the c= onfidence to step out of the French icon’s shadow.
She admits she sings in English to "distance" herself from her dad’s Fr= ench hits, and even relied on rocker Beck to help write the lyrics for he= r last album IRM because she didn’t feel creative enough.

THE FEELING STAR BREAKS HAND

THE FEELING rocker RICHARD JONES has undergone surgery on his hand after = he broke a bone in a fall last week (beg18Jan10).
The bassist, who is married to pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, took a nas= ty tumble outside his London home and smashed his right hand.
After consulting doctors, the star was admitted to hospital on Thursday= (28Jan10) to have the bone re-broken and set, to allow it to heal proper= ly. But his bandmates are sure the rocker will be back in time for their = next gig, at the Meribel Little World Festival in the French Alps in Marc= h (10).
A post on the band’s official website reads, "Hey folks. We just wanted= to let you know that Richard broke a bone in his right hand in a fall la= st week, and (he went into) hospital for an operation on it. He’ll then h= ave to spend a few weeks with it in plaster, but it should all be fine in= time for Little World Festival."

LOVE: ‘COBAIN WOULD HAVE ENJOYED GUITAR HERO’

COURTNEY LOVE feels conflicted over her legal battle against the makers o= f Guitar Hero - because she’s convinced her husband KURT COBAIN would hav= e adored the video game.
Gaming giant Activision included the late rocker as a character in Guit= ar Hero 5, which was released last year (09), allowing players to use Cob= ain’s image to perform a number of other artists’ songs.
Nirvana stars Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic were "dismayed" that their= former bandmate could be seen rocking out on other groups’ hits, while L= ove threatened to sue over the game.
But the Hole rocker insists Cobain would have enjoyed playing Guitar He= ro.
She tells Britain’s NME magazine, "What p**ses me off the most about it= is I think Kurt would be fine with having five Kurt Cobains singing the = (Spice Girls) song Wannabe, like, ‘Tell me what you want, what you really= really want.’… I think he’d find that really funny.
"But at the same time it’s gross what they did. Gwen (Stefani) started = the lawsuit. I have really good lawyers now and will join that lawsuit. T= here was this grey area and they f**ked the lot of us. They didn’t f**k J= ack White, but they f**ked Gwen, f**ked Johnny Cash and f**ked Kurt… It= ’s just gross. This is the rock ‘n’ roll business, this is what people do= .. They are sleazy; they do sleazy things." Stefani’s band No Doubt is suing Activision over the same issue in Band= Hero, a spin-off of the hit Guitar Hero game.

MCKAGAN JOINS JANE’S ADDICTION?

Former GUNS N’ ROSES star DUFF MCKAGAN has reportedly become the latest m= ember of JANE’S ADDICTION - he’s rumoured to have stepped in to replace b= assist ERIC AVERY.
The band reunited in 2008 after Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor c= onvinced them to join him on tour - and they have also been back in the s= tudio working on new material.
The reunion was marred by the recent departure of original member Avery= , but frontman Perry Farrell subsequently revealed they have been working= with a new "writing partner" and internet rumours have turned to McKagan= ..
Fansite Xiola.org is reporting the Velvet Revolver rocker has joined th= e band in the studio.
Avery previously refused to reunite with the rockers when they reformed= in 1997 and 2001, following their original 1991 split. He has been repla= ced over the years by stars including Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea,= Martyn LeNoble and Chris Chaney.

PAIGE APOLOGISES TO BOYLE

SUSAN BOYLE’s idol ELAINE PAIGE has apologised after she labelled the Sco= ttish singer "a virus that swept the world." The I Dreamed A Dream hitmaker became an overnight success last year (0= 9) after a clip of her Britain’s Got Talent audition spread across the in= ternet and gained her legions of fans worldwide.
She has since sold millions of copies of her debut album, also titled I= Dreamed A Dream, and was given the chance to duet with Paige for a TV sp= ecial.
But Paige appeared to have turned on Boyle after she made a series of u= nflattering comments about her, calling her a "virus" and suggesting the = singer had not earned her place in the music industry as she had forfeite= d years of "working hard and experience." However, Paige is adamant she did not mean to cause offence - as she is= one of Boyle’s biggest fans.
She says, "I wasn=E2=80=99t referring to Susan herself (when I called h= er a virus); I was referring to the speed of her fame spreading as fast a= s a worldwide viral marketing campaign. I am a huge supporter of Susan Bo= yle and admire what she has achieved.
"I have always said it=E2=80=99s very hard for someone to be fast-track= ed to stardom without any prior experience - I know this as it happened t= o me when Evita (the musical) opened and I found it extremely difficult i= n the beginning.
"Today, of course, it=E2=80=99s much harder with the phenomenon of the = internet - Facebook, YouTube etc - it seems it only takes minutes for fam= e to spread around the world - and that=E2=80=99s why I used the word =E2= =80=98virus=E2=80=99."

AC/DC PLANNING TRIBUTE FOR TRAGIC SINGER SCOTT

Veteran rockers AC/DC are set to pay tribute to former lead singer BON SC= OTT 30 years after his death.
Scott died of acute alcohol poisoning on 19 February 1980 after he pass= ed out following a night of heavy drinking in a London nightclub. He was = aged 33.
The group considered disbanding but signed current frontman Brian Johns= on as Scott’s replacement - and Johnson is adamant a music tribute will b= e in place to mark the memory of his predecessor.
He tells New Zealand rock radio station Voxy, "We’re trying to think of= something to do that’s not morbid. We hate it when people try to use the= anniversary as a sensation-seeking thing, so we want it to be respectful= .. His two nephews and his brother will be in Perth, and we’ll see his mum= .. I’m sure the fans will be out in force with Bon paraphernalia and we we= lcome that because he’s still a part of the band, he’s still a part of us= .."

IDOL LINKED TO AEROSMITH ROLE

Veteran rocker BILLY IDOL has become the latest big name rumoured to be i= n the running to replace STEVEN TYLER as frontman of AEROSMITH.
The band revealed they will be hosting auditions to find a new member w= hile Tyler takes a hiatus, with guitarist Joe Perry insisting the star wo= n’t be ready to tour with them until he recovers from a recent stint in r= ehab and a series of operations.
Lenny Kravitz was the first singer linked to the role, but admitted he = would never take over from Tyler, while reports have also suggested forme= r Queen star Paul Rodgers.
Now Idol is rumoured to be in contention, with Classic Rock magazine re= porting he was due to meet with the musicians but pulled out after fallin= g sick.
A source tells the publication, "Joe said he wanted to talk to Billy ab= out joining Aerosmith, because the band were having problems with Steven.= As far as I know Idol did not show up due to having a cold." Perry recently admitted they have already talked to a number of singers= about replacing Tyler, but refused to divulge any names. He said, "(Ther= e’s) a few people we’ve talked to, and we’ll see how it goes… As far as= auditions go, we’ll probably just sit around and have a couple of drinks= and see if we get along - because we’re already gonna know that they can= sing."

CURTAIN FALLS ON HAIRSPRAY

The West End production of HAIRSPRAY is to close after a successful run o= f nearly three years.
The show, which became a movie musical in 2007, opened in London that s= ame year and attracted a cast of stars including Michael Ball and Mel Smi= th.
But theatre bosses admit the production has reached the end of its "nat= ural life" and will come to a close in March (10).
Bill Taylor, chief executive officer of Stage Entertainment UK, the com= pany behind the musical, says, "After two and a half wonderful years, man= y awards and hundreds of thousands of happy Hairspray audience members, w= e have decided to bring the production to a close at the Shaftesbury Thea= tre on Sunday 28 March. Every show, even a big, glorious hit show like th= is one, has a natural life and for now it’s time for Hairspray to leave L= ondon." The show won a string of awards including four prestigious Laurence Oli= vier prizes and grossed more than $80 million (=C2=A350 million) during i= ts run.

WINSTONE TO TAKE ACTING HIATUS

RAY WINSTONE is planning to take time away from the spotlight - because h= e’s struggling to land any new acting roles.
The Brit was set to film a big screen remake of cult 1970s cop show The= Sweeney later this year (10), but the project was scrapped due to financ= ial problems - and he admits his script offers have slowed down.

Serkis recently delved into the music world with a portrayal of the Blo= ckheads star Ian Dury in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.
And he would love to land a role playing another music icon - Bono.

PAXTON REPLACES QUAID IN KNOCKOUT

BILL PAXTON has stepped in to replace DENNIS QUAID in new movie KNOCKOUT = - after the actor dropped out due to "scheduling conflicts." Quaid had been due to tackle a role in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming fil= m, playing the father of a secret agent alongside a star-studded cast inc= luding Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor and Antonio Banderas.
But the actor pulled out of the role at the last minute, leaving movie = bosses to recruit Paxton as his replacement, according to The Playlist.
The production is scheduled to start filming in Ireland on 8 February = (10).

QUINTO: ‘I’M NOT LEAVING STAR TREK’

ZACHARY QUINTO has been forced to dismiss rumours he’s quit STAR TREK, af= ter comments he made in a recent interview about "stepping away" from the= movie franchise sent fans into a spin.
The Heroes star plays Spock in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 revival of the sci-fi = saga, and is expected to return for a series of sequels.
But Star Trek devotees went into a panic this week (beg25Jan10) after t= he actor’s interview with Wired.com, in which he hints at a hiatus from t= he franchise, hit the internet.
He said, "I’m stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years - no = movies, no conventions, no anything for a while." But Quinto is adamant his comments were misconstrued.
In a post on his official blog, he writes, "Obviously I will be a part = of any upcoming films… reprising my role as Spock. What I meant was tha= t in the meantime I won’t be making any public appearances related to the= franchise - or doing any more auxiliary projects pertaining to the Trek = universe (sic). I will be focusing my efforts on other projects and prepa= ring to shoot the next film - which will be released in June of 2012… t= wo years from now. Hence the no Trek for two years remark. Worry not Trek= kers. It was a misunderstanding of context."

EFRON ON FIRE WITH COMIC BOOK ROLE

ZAC EFRON is set for a hot new role as a comic book hero in a big screen = adaptation of graphic novel FIRE.
The High School Musical actor has signed up to star in the picture, whi= ch follows the story of a college student recruited by America’s Central = Intelligence Agency (CIA), who then finds out he has been marked for term= ination by his employers.
Efron, 22, is also named as an executive producer on the project.
The actor was recently linked to a role in another comic book blockbust= er - he admitted he’s desperate to land a role in the rebooted Spider-Man= franchise.

GRAMMY ORGANISERS WANT RIHANNA FOR 2011

Grammy Awards organisers have dismissed suggestions RIHANNA was denied a = chance to perform at this year’s (10) show because she pulled out of the = 2009 event at the last minute.
The singer was due to sing at the prestigious ceremony last year (09) b= ut scrapped her appearance following a vicious fight with ex-boyfriend Ch= ris Brown, which left her battered and bruised.
Rihanna recently confirmed she won’t be taking to the stage at the 2010= event, and hinted producers deliberately shunned her because of last yea= r’s (09) furore. She said: "We messed their show up pretty bad last year.= They might be a little mad at me." But Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich insists there are no hard feelings towa= rd the Umbrella hitmaker.
He tells Access Hollywood, "How can you be mad at Rihanna? Rihanna is a= lovely person. No, we’re not mad at her." And Ehrlich envisions Rihanna will be the star of the 2011 ceremony: "W= e actually talked about possibly doing something this year (but) I think = probably next year will be Rihanna’s year." The 21 year old is expected to attend the event, which takes place in L= os Angeles on 31 January (10). She is nominated for two awards for Run Th= is Town, her collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye West.

RICHIE: ‘I DON’T HAVE AN EATING DISORDER’

NICOLE RICHIE has blasted critics who have suggested her recent weight lo= ss is linked to an eating disorder - calling the accusations "insulting a= nd irresponsible." The socialite regained her svelte figure just months after giving birth= to her second child, son Sparrow, in September (09).
But her post-baby body has attracted some unwanted attention, with onli= ne gossips speculating she’s taking her diet to extremes.
However, Richie is adamant she’s happy and healthy.
She tells Marie Claire magazine, "I felt it was a little unfair to say = someone has an eating disorder when they don’t. It’s extremely insulting = and irresponsible. An eating disorder is serious and it’s a disease. I th= ink when you see me in person, you see that I’m, like, five foot one - I’= m a small person. When I was heavier, everyone said I was too heavy. You = can’t win in the public eye and I find it really hard. So I ignore it now= , I really do.
"The only time it bothered me was when I was in a store trying on shoes= and these girls came up to me - they were probably like 13 or 14 - and t= heir mother came over, and she said, ‘Are you taking care of yourself, be= cause my girls think that you’re not.’ That was upsetting."
