BECKHAM TACKLED BY TV PRANKSTER

An Italian TV presenter tackled DAVID BECKHAM during a bizarre stunt for = a comedy show on Thursday (21Jan10) - by pulling on a pair of rubber glov= es and grabbing the soccer superstar’s genitals.
The sports hunk was giving interviews to a pack of reporters in Italy, = where he is currently playing for soccer giant AC Milan, when prankster E= lena Di Cioccio pushed through the throng of journalists and pounced.
Cioccio grabbed at Beckham’s crotch before he was bundled away by his s= ecurity, who then kept the wacky TV host away from the star.
Later, when her show Le Iene (The Hyenas) aired on Italian TV, Cioccio = showed viewers the video, before telling them she planned the stunt to ch= eck if Beckham measured up to his famed underwear adverts for Emporio Arm= ani.
She said, "Off the pitch we have seen fascinating photographs of David = Beckham in his underpants and seemingly very well endowed and even his wi= fe says that he is well equipped and calls him Golden Balls.
"Well the image may have slipped slightly as he has been replaced in th= e Armani campaign by a younger footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, but we want= ed to find out if he was as well endowed as the pictures suggest or if th= ey were touched up." And the presenter insists Beckham may have received some help in the tr= ouser department: "I touched it but it’s small. David you have conned us = all. What did you use, cotton wool? It’s all a trick."

DIALECT COACH SLAMS JOLIE AFFAIR RUMOURS

A voice coach who helped ANGELINA JOLIE speak Russian in her latest thril= ler SALT has spoken out to deny rumours he had an affair with the Hollywo= od beauty.
Dialect expert Howard Samuelsohn spent time with the superstar to perfe= ct her Soviet accent for the new movie, in which she plays a Russian slee= per agent.
But following speculation Jolie had a fling with her dialect coach duri= ng production, Samuelsohn has come forward to blast reports he bedded the= beauty at New York hotel The Waldorf Astoria - insisting he is too "shor= t and middle-aged" for Jolie to be interested in him.
He tells RadarOnline.com, "I’m 5′6, I’m 51 years old, and I’ve never be= en to The Waldorf. I would like for someone to get the word out. (This) i= s total bulls**t."

COWELL SPEECHLESS AFTER IDOL CONTESTANT GETS CUFFED

Outspoken SIMON COWELL was left speechless when an AMERICAN IDOL hopeful = had to be cuffed and dragged from an audition after refusing to leave.
The music mogul, along with fellow judges Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jack= son, was filming the audition process in Orlando, Florida last summer (09= ) when Jared Norrell stepped up to show his vocal talents.
After singing an ear-shattering rendition of Amazing Grace, DioGuardi a= sked the bemused 28 year old, "Oh good Lord, what was that? Do you really= think you’re a good singer? Seriously, I’m not trying to be rude. You th= ink you’re a great singer?" To which the wannabe replied, "Guys, can I just have two seconds more p= lease… I’m tripping, I’m tripping… you feel me? I’m losing it… Can = I sing one more song?’ A bewildered Cowell remained uncharacteristically silent as the graphic= designer broke into song again - prompting Jackson to call on security.
But after bodyguards hauled him away from the audition room, there was = an altercation - resulting in the would-be singer being handcuffed with t= he aid of police and dragged out of the building’s exit.

SLAYER RESCHEDULE TWICE-AXED U.K. TOUR

Heavy rockers SLAYER’s scrapped U.K. tour has been rescheduled for a seco= nd time.
The band was forced to axe their U.K. and European dates in November (0= 9) after bassist Tom Araya injured his back.
The rockers thought Araya would recover in time to start touring again = in March (10), but specialists insisted he should take more time off to e= nsure the injury healed, and the tour was cancelled again.
Now, the band have announced the six-date U.K. trek will kick-off on 26= May (10), starting in Leeds, England and ending up in London on 3 June (= 10).

COLDPLAY, MONKEYS & ALBARN DONATE MEMORABILIA FOR HAITI

British music acts COLDPLAY, ARCTIC MONKEYS and BLUR frontman DAMON ALBAR= N have all handed over merchandise for an online auction to raise funds f= or the Haiti earthquake appeal.
Items belonging to the rockers will go under the hammer on online aucti= on site eBay.com on Friday (22Jan09), giving fans the chance to own a pie= ce of rock history as well as making money to help the victims of last we= ek’s (12Jan09) earthquake.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has donated a signed military jacket he = wore throughout the band’s Viva La Vida tour, while Albarn will record a = "bespoke" track for whoever wins his bid.
The guitar Alex Turner played in Arctic Monkeys’ promo for debut single= I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor is also up for grabs.
All monies raised will go to the Oxfam emergency response in Haiti.
Martin says, "The people of Haiti will be desperate for help and assist= ance. You can make a donation at www.oxfam.org.uk."

JUDGE RULES GATELY DIED OF NATURAL CAUSES, CLOSES CASE

A Spanish judge has officially ruled STEPHEN GATELY died of natural cause= s, three months after his tragic death.
The 33 year old was found dead in October (09) at the Majorca, Spain ho= me he shared with partner Andrew Cowles.
Initial reports suggested the Boyzone star’s death stemmed from a night= of heavy drinking and drug taking.
But despite the fact the star had drunk a large quantity of alcohol and= smoked marijuana the night of his passing, a pathologist ruled his demis= e was due to natural causes.
He suffered pulmonary oedema - a build-up of fluid on the lungs - which= was brought on by an undiagnosed heart condition.
Judge Carmen Abrines ruled the death a natural one in a Majorca, Spain = courthouse and closed the case, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.=

‘BIG KENNY’ ON HIS WAY TO HAITI TO FIND LOST PAL

Country star KENNY ALPHIN has become the latest celebrity to land in Hait= i and offer help to those providing relief to the nation’s earthquake sur= vivors.
The Big & Rich star, aka Big Kenny, is on his way to Haiti as part of a= relief effort group currently travelling through the Dominican Republic.
His prime objective is to locate a friend who was holidaying at the Mon= tana Hotel in the capital Port-au-Prince when the earthquake hit last wee= k (12Jan10).
Blogging about his trip to friends and fans, Alphin writes, "The descri= ptions of the casualties is heart-sinking, though the outpouring of aid f= rom around the world that I am witnessing is none short of amazing… Lov= e is flowing. That is good.
"I heard a French girl was pulled from the Montana Hotel wreckage today= alive. Still 7 search-and-rescue teams working there. I remain faithful.= What a reminder to let the daily small stuff fly out the window and real= ly live our dreams! Life is always in the moment." Alphin hopes to reach Port-au-Prince within the next 24 hours, but reve= als fuel supplies "are low".
He adds, "Keeping it positive and running fast as I can to find my frie= nd!" and urges fans to "help however small or BIG. I would hope someone w= ould come if it were my town. Compassion and grace are the balance to the= extreme and hectic race we’re each running in our own lives daily." The singer ends his blog entry philosophically, stating, "When I see ho= w people can care so much in the trying times I believe even more in the = obtainability of peace.
"We come into the world with nothing, we leave with nothing. The true t= reasure is in the heart and continues forever only in the wealth of our s= pirits. Here’s to great spirits!" And he urges his friend, Walt, to "keep tapping".
Alphin isn’t the only star on his way to Haiti - native Wyclef Jean is = hoping to return this weekend (23Jan10) after spending last weekend in Po= rt-au-Prince helping the local relief effort.
And actor Sean Penn landed in the capital on Thursday (21Jan10) as part= of a mercy mission.

AVATAR 34TH ON U.S. ALL-TIME BOX OFFICE BLOCKBUSTER LIST

Sci-fi spectacular AVATAR is on its way to becoming the biggest-grossing = movie ever at the U.S. box office - but it comes in a lowly 34th if you t= ake ticket prices and inflation into consideration.

BETTANY’S BEAR HUNT WAS A DISASTER

British actor PAUL BETTANY has started hunting his personal trainer for f= un - in a bid to be taken more seriously as an outdoorsman.
The Master & Commander star can’t stomach the idea of killing live anim= als but fears he has to develop certain wild skills to justify living in = remote Vermont.
He explains, "As an Englishman, you start from a kind of butch deficit.= … but I’m doing my best. I’ve been trying really hard; we invented this = game - because I don’t hunt or fish… called The Great Western Bear Hunt= ..
"We buy a load of paintball guns and I get my trainer, Mike Hood, to dr= ess up as a bear… and we hunt my friend through the woods." But the game turned serious recently when Hood disappeared in the fores= t near Bettany’s Vermont home for over five hours.
The actor recalls, "Five hours passed and it got dark and rainy and the= re came a point when we thought, ‘This has gone too far’. We’d been looki= ng for him, so we called the police… They set up these beacons." Hood eventually showed up hours later and explained he had got lost in = the woods and stumbled onto a road miles away, where he started flagging = down cars - but no one would stop because he was dressed as a bear.
Bettany adds, "He thumbed this lift and this poor woman stopped, she ha= d two kids in the back of the car… and he went, ‘I need a lift, I’m lat= e for a party. Will you give me lift?’ and she said, ‘No, I won’t… beca= use you’re wearing a f**king bear costume,’ and hit the gas." But the hunt-gone-wrong hasn’t put Bettany and his wife Jennifer Connel= ly off the idea of staging another outdoor event this year (10).

BLAIR’S SHELTER INVESTIGATED AFTER DOG ESCAPE

LINDA BLAIR’s animal shelter is under investigation by Los Angeles author= ities after one of her rescued dogs escaped and attacked a neighbour’s pe= t pig.
The Exorcist star runs the WorldHeart Foundation rescue centre in L.A.,= where she keeps up to 50 abandoned dogs at a time.
On Sunday (17Jan10), one of the canines under Blair’s care managed to b= reak free from its kennel and maul Gerty the pig, which was housed at a n= earby ranch.
The pig’s owner shot the pooch, insisting it had the pig in a "death gr= ip". Despite being "devastated" by the incident, Blair offered to pay the= pig’s medical bills.
But officials at the L.A. County Animal Care and Control department hav= e now launched an investigation into Blair’s kennels to see how the dog e= scaped, according to TMZ.com.

INJURED CONAWAY ‘MAKING FUNERAL PLANS’

JEFF CONAWAY’s girlfriend is calling for a medical intervention for the t= roubled GREASE star, after he started making bizarre funeral plans follow= ing his freak fall on Monday (18Jan10).
The troubled actor suffered a brain haemorrhage and needed emergency su= rgery after taking a tumble at his California home. He also fractured his= neck and broke his hip and arm.
His girlfriend Vikki Lizzi spoke out after the accident to reveal her l= over believed he was facing his final days - and she insists the situatio= n has now worsened.
Lizzi claims the star is still struggling with his addictions while rec= overing from surgery, and is thinking up ideas on how he would like to be= laid to rest.
She tells E! Online, "He’s talking about being burned on a boat and sen= t out to sea like a Viking funeral (and) it sends chills up my spine. We’= re all trying to save his life and he’s not listening. I don’t think he w= ants to die. I think it’s the meds that are destroying his mind.
"This is just devastating. I tried to save him from himself by trying t= o get him help… He wants to die at home. He knows the meds are killing = him. He can’t get off them.
"(He) is just stubborn. He needs an intervention." Conaway has struggled with chronic back pain, which got him hooked on p= ainkillers, and recently appeared on U.S. TV show Celebrity Rehab in 2008= in a bid to conquer his drink and drug demons.

POLANSKI PROSECUTORS DENY VIOLATING STATE LAWS

Prosecutors in ROMAN POLANSKI’s child-sex case filed documents on Thursda= y (21Jan09) to deny allegations they failed to inform the victim about th= eir plans to have the director extradited to the U.S. for sentencing.
Polanski’s defence claimed the Los Angeles County district attorney’s o= ffice had broken L.A. state laws by not telling Samantha Geimer they want= ed to bring him back to face a state judge.
On Thursday, the prosecution team insisted they tried to organise meeti= ngs with Geimer through her lawyer but an arrangement could not be made.
Geimer has joined the defence’s pleas for the Rosemary’s Baby auteur - = who pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with her when she was 13 years = old - to be sentenced in absentia.
That would mean a judge could rule on his sentence while he remains in = Switzerland, where he is currently on house arrest. Geimer has also calle= d for the filmmaker to be sentenced to time already served and freed.
After pleading guilty to unlawful sex with Geimer in the U.S., Polanski= fled to Europe in 1978, where he remained until his arrest in Switzerlan= d last year (09).

SHAKIRA PLANS TO BUILD SCHOOL FOR HAITI KIDS

SHAKIRA is planning to build a school for young Haitians whose lives have= been devastated by the earthquake which ravaged the nation last week (12= Jan10).
The She-Wolf singer will perform on George Clooney’s Hope for Haiti Now= telethon on Friday (22Jan09), but she is keen to help the victims of 7.0= -magnitude tremor in the future.
Through her Barefoot Foundation, the star has teamed up with the Archit= ecture for Humanity charity to build a school after the relief effort has= helped get Haitians back on their feet.
And Shakira hopes the school will mirror the success of the education f= acility she launched in her native Columbia, which provides teaching, nut= rition and counselling for kids in need.
On her official website, the star writes, "There is a great need for im= mediate aid in Haiti, but also for longer-term reconstruction.
"For that reason, we are doing our small part to help Haiti rebuild and= give the children affected by this disaster the chance to learn and thri= ve. I hope we can use some of what we’ve learned working in Colombia to h= elp Haiti’s children recover.
"When we educate children we empower societies, and right now Haiti nee= ds all of our help."

CLOONEY DONATES $1 MILLION TO HAITI

GEORGE CLOONEY will get his Haiti telethon started with a grand gesture -= he plans to donate $1 million (=C2=A3625,000) to the charities behind th= e TV special.
Clooney’s Not on Our Watch charity has already handed over $1 million t= o the relief effort and now Clooney will hand over his own cash, accordin= g to reports.

CHER’S HAWAII HIDEAWAY GOES UNDER THE HAMMER FOR $8.7 MILLION

The Hawaii retreat CHER has painstakingly revamped has gone under the ham= mer for $8.7 million (=C2=A35.4 million).
The Kailua Kona property on Hawaii’s Big Island was auctioned off on Mo= nday (18Jan10) and was expected to fetch up to $12 million (=C2=A37.5 mi= llion).
However, the six-bedroom property sold at the lower end of the reserve = price, as one of a group of five luxury homes, which fetched a grand tota= l of $19.4 million (=C2=A312.1 million).
The house is positioned at the Four Seasons Hualalai resort and feature= s panoramic ocean views, as well as four guest bungalows.
