RIHANNA’S LOVER CLEARS UP RESTRAINING ORDER REPORTS

RIHANNA’s new baseball star boyfriend MATT KEMP cleared up allegations he= was once involved in a violent relationship - insisting a restraining or= der filed against him by a former lover had nothing to do with physical a= buse.
The Umbrella hitmaker split from long term love Chris Brown last year (= 09) after a bust-up which left her battered and bruised, and her former p= artner with a community service sentence for assault.
The Bajan beauty has now gone public with her new boyfriend, Los Angele= s Dodgers star Matt Kemp, following a date at an L.A. basketball game on = Saturday night (16Jan10).
But Kemp was hit with allegations of a violent past after it emerged a = former lover, Felisha Terrell, filed a restraining order against him afte= r their relationship ended in 2008.
Now the athlete has come forward to set the record straight, insisting = the court order, which was subsequently lifted, is a "non-issue." Kemp’s agent Dave Stewart tells E! News, "Matt dated Felisha about two = years ago and decided to end their relationship. She chose to file a comp= laint and shortly thereafter, on her own accord, decided to drop it based= on the fact that the statements made within were false. She has very rec= ently said that she has no issue whatsoever with Matt and that she and Ma= tt consider this to be a non-issue.
"Matt Kemp is a consummate Midwestern gentleman who has never displayed= any act of violence towards a woman." A representative for Terrell adds, "During the course of the relationsh= ip there was a restraining order filed by Felisha but it had nothing to d= o with domestic violence and to be clear Matt was NEVER physically abusiv= e to Felisha, nor did she fear for her life. The restraining order was su= bsequently vacated. They both have moved on separately but remain amicabl= e."

OWEN’S TEARS OVER SINGLE PARENT ROLE

CLIVE OWEN broke down in tears when he read the script for his latest rol= e as a single dad - because the thought of his own children losing their = mother devastated him.
The Brit actor stars in The Boys are Back, playing a sports writer forc= ed to raise his child alone after his wife dies.
But Owen struggled with the role, as it made him lament on how his youn= g daughters, Hannah and Eve, would cope without a parent.
He says, "I found it very upsetting when I read it. Every time I read t= he script I cried. In some scenes I was turning to a young boy and saying= , ‘Your mother might not be around for much longer.’ "I find this a devastating idea as a parent of two girls.The idea of th= at conversation upsets me, so I found it moving."

KEYS LOVES BEYONCE DUET

ALICIA KEYS is delighted she pushed back the release date of her latest a= lbum so she could include a duet with pal BEYONCE - because the pair had = such strong chemistry in the studio.
The No One hitmaker had initially planned to release The Element of Fre= edom on 1 December (09), but pushed it back two weeks so the record could= feature her Beyonce collaboration, Put It In A Love Song.
And Keys is sure she made the right decision.

MILLS HEADING TO HAITI FOR AMPUTEE CAMPAIGN

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s ex-wife HEATHER MILLS is planning a trip to Haiti to= aid amputees in the country.
Mills lost her left leg in a road accident in 1993 and has tirelessly c= ampaigned to raise awareness of the struggles amputees go through.
She’s planning on taking her mission to Haiti, which was hit by a massi= ve earthquake last week (12Jan10), leaving thousands of people dead and m= illions seeking aid.
And Mills publicly appealed to viewers of British morning show GMTV on = Friday (22Jan10) to help with her mercy mission.
She says, "Can anyone contact heathermills.org to donate second hand li= mbs, wheelchairs and crutches because we’re taking tons of them out to Ha= iti for our recycling limbs campaign. We’ve got thousands and thousands o= f amputees. That’s really important (to raise awareness)."

EXHIBITION TO MARK HUTCHENCE’S BIRTHDAY

A collection of photographs of late INXS frontman MICHAEL HUTCHENCE will = go on display in Australia on Friday (22Jan10) - to mark what would have = been the star’s 50th birthday.
Hutchence was found hanged in a Sydney hotel room in 1997 at the age of= 37. The singer would have turned 50 on 22 January 2010, and his friend, = photographer Serge Thomann, has arranged for a special display of picture= s to be projected on to the wall of the Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melb= ourne on Friday night.
The building is of special significance as Hutchence was buried in Sydn= ey on the day he was due to play a gig at the venue.
Thomann admits he’s happy to share his private collection of pictures w= ith the public to help remember his late pal.
He says, "I owe a lot to Michael. He persuaded me to take up photograph= y professionally after he saw my photos from his 1985 concert (in) Melbou= rne. It was the best career advice I ever had.
"It means a lot to me to be able to remember him by sharing my collecti= on, for free, with his many fans. It is my special 50th Birthday present = to Michael and his numerous fans."

RADIOHEAD NEARLY SPLIT DURING IN RAINBOWS

British rockers RADIOHEAD nearly parted ways during the recording of thei= r hit 2007 album IN RAINBOWS - because the lengthy studio sessions dragge= d on for several years.
The band began working on tracks for the groundbreaking record in 2005 = before it was eventually released online using a ‘pay-what-you-like’ syst= em in late 2007.
And guitarist Ed O’Brien admits the album process was so long and tedio= us, they weren’t sure whether they would continue as a group.
He tells Midem.com, "The recording of the album took three years. Which= is a long time by anybody’s standards. It pretty much half killed us. Wh= ether the band would continue was very much in the balance." But the musician is convinced the decision to release the album using s= uch an unconventional sales technique saved them from a split.
He adds, "It was empowering. You can’t put it into a balance sheet, thi= s feeling of empowerment. It completely rejuvenated us as a band. It got = the creative juices flowing. You can’t put a price on that. That’s the st= uff that keeps you going."

GROHL LEADS ROLLING STONE AWARDS

FOO FIGHTERS frontman DAVE GROHL was the toast of Australia on Thursday n= ight (21Jan10) - landing a top prize at the country’s first Rolling Stone= Awards.
The legendary rocker was named Best Male at the ceremony in Sydney and = accepted the honour via video link.
Pop star Pink was also among the winners, taking home the coveted Artis= t of the Year prize, and veteran Canadian heavy metal group Anvil was han= ded the Rolling Stone Award.
Many of the prizes went to homegrown talent - Australian musician Sarah= Blasko was crowned Best Female, rockers Temper Trap were named the artis= t to watch, while Powderfinger took home the Best Album trophy and The Dr= ones landed Best Live Act award.

LEWIS’ HEARTACHE OVER HAITI

LEONA LEWIS immediately agreed to sing on SIMON COWELL’s charity single f= or Haiti - because watching news coverage of the earthquake-ravaged natio= n has left her "heartbroken".
The music mogul has been busy lining up celebrities to sing a cover of = R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts to raise money for the Haiti aid appeal, followi= ng a request from Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
So far, Lewis, Michael Buble and Rod Stewart have all signed up, with T= ake That, Robbie Williams and Coldplay also rumoured to be taking part.
And the Bleeding Love hitmaker admits she didn’t hesitate to offer her = help to Cowell, as she’s been so saddened by the devastating images from = Haiti, which was hit by the massive quake last week (12Jan10).
She tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "You can definitely count me in.= What happened in Haiti is absolutely heartbreaking." The members of R.E.M. have also agreed to lend their support to the pro= ject, by waiving royalties for the use of the track.

AFTER DEATH MOURNING TWO MEMBERS

British rockers AFTER DEATH have vowed to continue with their South Ameri= can tour after tragedy struck during a break in Brazil on Thursday (21Jan= 10).
Guitarist Leon Villalba drowned as he swam in the sea, and rescuers wer= e still trying to locate missing bassist Timothy Kennelly as WENN went to= press.
The two rockers were swimming at a beach in Aracaju, north-east Brazil = during a break in their gig schedule when a sunbather noticed Villalba’s = body floating in the ocean.
He alerted a nearby lifeguard, who pulled 21-year-old Villalba from the= sea - but it was too late to save him. A search for Kennelly is ongoing.
The remaining bandmates - Marc Yacas, Barry O’Connor and Ken Do - are d= evastated by the news, but they’ve pledged to continue with their tour su= pport slot for Master in tribute to their friends.

RADIOHEAD TO PLAY FOR HAITI

RADIOHEAD have put recording sessions for their new album on hold to sche= dule a last-minute gig to help the relief efforts in Haiti.
The British band is currently in Los Angeles working on its upcoming ei= ghth studio album, but they have decided to take the weekend (23-24Jan10)= off to play a charity gig to help raise money for the survivors of the m= assive earthquake which struck the Caribbean country last week (12Jan10).
The rockers will play at Hollywood’s Henry Fonda Theatre on Sunday nigh= t (24Jan10). Tickets went on sale on Thursday (21Jan10) via an auction on= the group’s official website.
A statement from the musicians reads, "We’re doing a show this Sunday t= o raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti. All proceeds are going to t= he Oxfam Haiti relief fund. We’re trying to raise as much money as possib= le, so tickets will be sold by auction at this site until Saturday. We’re= in the middle of recording at the moment, so you’ll be catching us on th= e fly… but if you’re up for it, then we are too. See you then." News of the last minute gig surfaced shortly after frontman Thom Yorke = turned out to DJ at a Haiti fundraiser at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel i= n L.A. on Wednesday night (20Jan10) - the event raised $20,000 (=C2=A312,= 500) for aid efforts.

WALLIAMS’ BURGER PROPOSAL

LITTLE BRITAIN star DAVID WALLIAMS ensured his proposal to model fiancee = LARA STONE had extra bite - by hiding her engagement ring in a burger.
The TV comic asked the 26 year old to be his wife earlier this month (J= an10), after almost a year together.
And the funnyman couldn’t resist proposing in an unconventional way - h= iding the sparkler in a burger, knowing Stone would remove the salad from= her fast food before tucking in.
A source tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "When Lara has a burger she= always lifts the top off to remove salad so he thought it would be a fun= ny way to pop the question.

MOMOA LANDS CONAN ROLE

JASON MOMOA has fought off competition from TWILIGHT star KELLAN LUTZ and= SUPERNATURAL actor JARED PADALECKI to land the lead in the CONAN THE BAR= BARIAN remake.
The former Baywatch star has been battling it out with the two hunks to= take over the role that made Arnold Schwarzenegger famous in 1982.

NOTH INJURED BY GOOD WIFE MARGULIES ON SET

Actress JULIANNA MARGULIES hit CHRIS NOTH so violently while filming a sc= ene for U.S. show THE GOOD WIFE, the pair was forced to stop the shoot.
The former ER star, who walked away with a Best Actress Golden Globe fo= r her role in the series on Sunday (17Jan10), plays Noth’s wife in the sh= ow.
The onscreen couple is rocked by scandal and during one tumultuous scen= e, Margulies had to punch the Sex and the City star in the face - and Not= h was left nursing a nasty injury from the stunt.
Margulies says, "I did really whack him. There was no other way to do i= t. And Chris Noth is so great. He’s like, ‘Oh, please, I’ve been hit so m= any times.’ So we did it three times.
"The first time I didn’t hit him hard enough, apparently. The second ti= me was good but the camera was off. And the third time was perfect. And I= left a red welt, so we couldn’t shoot it again."

WILLIAMS & MANILOW BACK HAITI RED CROSS APPEAL

FRANCO: ‘SPIDER-MAN WILL SURVIVE WITHOUT MAGUIRE’

SPIDER-MAN star JAMES FRANCO is convinced the superhero franchise will su= rvive without leading man TOBEY MAGUIRE - he’s urging Hollywood bosses to= take inspiration from the BATMAN movies.
Maguire, who has played the webslinger in three big budget blockbusters= , threw the fourth installment into jeopardy last week (beg11Jan10) when = he announced his decision to quit the franchise, along with director Sam = Raimi.
Movie executives now plan to revive Spider-Man with a prequel, featurin= g a new cast.
Franco, who appeared in all three superhero movies, is convinced the Sp= ider-Man series will continue to thrive - and cites the Batman franchise,= which has seen five actors play the Caped Crusader over the years, as an= example.
He tells E! Online, "I don’t have a problem with that (rebooting the fr= anchise without Maguire). It worked out well for Batman and comics themse= lves have different artists and writers. I think it’s perfectly fine." But the actor hopes movie bosses don’t press on with plans to release t= he next film in 2012 - because audiences will need a break to accept the = new-look movie.
He adds, "I think for the viewers you want a little space so you can ge= t everyone else out of your head."

POLANSKI’S WIFE DEFENDS HER ‘MARVELLOUS’ HUSBAND

ROMAN POLANSKI’s actress wife EMMANUELLE SEIGNER has defended the embattl= ed director as he fights to avoid extradition to the U.S. on child sex ch= arges.
The Oscar-winner pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful sex with a 13-y= ear-old girl in 1977, but fled the States before his sentence could be pa= ssed.
He was arrested in Zurich last year (09) and is currently under house a= rrest in Switzerland, waiting to discover if he’ll be sent back to the U.= S. to face sentencing or handed his punishment by an American court in hi= s absence.
In a new interview with Elle magazine, the filmmaker’s actress wife des= cribes the pressure the case is putting on her family, likening it to "fa= lling into a well… and this long fall won’t stop." Seigner concedes she "understands perfectly" why many are horrified by = the crime Polanski confessed to committing - but insists sex and drugs we= re viewed differently in the 1970s, when the offence took place.

FIELDER-CIVIL ‘HAD AN AFFAIR WITH TRANSSEXUAL WINEHOUSE IMPERSONATOR’

AMY WINEHOUSE’s plans to rekindle her romance with ex-husband BLAKE FIELD= ER-CIVIL have been dealt another blow over allegations he has been having= an affair - with a transsexual teenage impersonator of the BACK TO BLACK= singer.
The singer is said to be getting ready to remarry her ex-partner in the= Caribbean in February (10), even though he divorced her on the grounds o= f her adultery just six months ago (Jul09).
But the reunion could be in doubt after a 17-year-old transsexual came = forward with allegations she has enjoyed a fling with the recovering drug= addict since last October (09).
Mia, who is awaiting surgery to become a woman and mimics her idol Wine= house’s style, insists Fielder-Civil continued to date her even after rea= lising she still had male genitals.
She tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "He introduced me to his pals as= his new girlfriend. Within minutes he was snogging (kissing) me at the p= ool table, but he had no idea of my transsexual background. He was taking= cocaine in the toilets and would come out rubbing his nose.
"It was bizarre. I was nervous, but I liked him, so I just went along w= ith it. Then he took me to the hotel. We played games of dare and ended u= p kissing and mucking about. I was lying there and his hands were all ove= r me. Then he suddenly realised. He stopped, looked at me, and said, ‘Are= you a transsexual?’ I told him yes and he just smiled. He kept asking me= questions about it - he was fascinated with my Adam’s apple - and I was = besotted with him." And Mia, who sports a beehive and heavy eyeliner like Winehouse, insist= s the Grammy-winning singer was privy to the affair - and even thanked he= r for looking after Fielder-Civil when was she was not around.
