TRINA WANTS TO ADOPT HAITIAN ORPHAN

Rapper TRINA is considering adopting an orphaned child from Haiti - after= the country’s devastating earthquake on 12 January (10) made her realise= how "blessed" she is.
The Here We Go hitmaker, real name Katrina Taylor, is desperate to make= a difference after the poverty-stricken nation was rocked by a massive t= remor earlier this month.
And she’s decided she doesn’t just want to make a donation to Haiti - s= he wants to take in a child whose guardians perished in the disaster.
She tells AllHipHop.com, "I would like to contribute on a higher level = for more personal reasons - in addition to being ready to raise/nurture a= child - by being involved on a day-to-day basis.
"The tragic and untimely list of events that have happened in Haiti eve= n before the recent earthquake have made me realise how blessed I am as a= n individual and I want to share that with a child that is a victim in th= is disturbing time."

GUNS N’ ROSES REP DENIES SLASH BAN

A representative for GUNS N’ ROSES has dismissed reports the group banned= fans from wearing any SLASH clothing at a recent concert.
Frontman Axl Rose and the hat-toting rocker famously fell out when Slas= h quit the band in the mid-1990s, after their relationship deteriorated. = They never patched up their friendship and their ongoing war of words con= tinues to rage, with Rose recently accusing his former pal of lying about= the rift in his 2007 autobiography.
A U.S. report claimed the band upset Slash fans at their gig in Canada = last Wednesday (20Jan10) by asking them to turn their t-shirts inside out= and leave their top hats outside. TMZ.com reported a security guard conf= irmed he had been given the orders, insisting, "The instructions were pas= sed down from a producer for the band." But Rose’s personal assistant’s son, Fernando Lebeis, has spoken out to= deny the allegations, confirming a ban never took place.
He explains, "We did not advise any security to ban any sort of apparel= …. If they did, they did it on their own accord, or under someone else’s= order - from within their management."

NATE DOGG RECOVERING AFTER STROKES

Rapper NATE DOGG is re-learning basic human functions while in physical t= herapy following a series of strokes.
The hip-hop artist, cousin of Snoop Dogg, was paralysed on the left sid= e of his body following a mild stroke in 2007.
The star, real name Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, then suffered another stroke= in 2008, forcing him to turn to an assisted breathing tube to survive.
But he has made progress in his recovery with the help of expert physic= ians - he’s now learned to "lift his head up", according to his longtime = friend and collaborator Warren G.
Warren G tells AllHipHop.com, "He’s in therapy getting himself together= , that’s all I can tell people. I see him any and every time I want to. I= t’s hard when you have somebody (who has suffered) two strokes, usually t= he person don’t (sic) make it. But he’s strong. He’s getting good therapy= and he’s pulling out of it. It’s hard when you first have a stroke, you = (have) got to learn everything over again. It’s like you’re a baby again.= You gotta learn everything."

STARR TO PERFORM ON 70TH BIRTHDAY

THE BEATLES legend RINGO STARR will celebrate his 70th birthday this summ= er (10) by performing live onstage.
The drummer will hit the landmark age in July (10), but he’s refusing t= o hold a big bash because he’ll be too busy performing across the U.S. wi= th his group the All Starr Band.
Starr has decided to play Radio City Music Hall in New York on his big = day - because playing music to his fans is what he "loves the most", acco= rding to Britain’s Daily Express.
A source tells the publication, "Ringo’s decided to go on tour as he fe= lt it was fitting he should be doing what he loves the most on the big da= y, which is performing. He’s not holding a big lavish birthday party. It’= s not his style these days. For him, still being able to perform on stage= for his fans after all these years is reward enough."

CROOK’S TORTOISES STAR IN WEST END PLAY

British star MACKENZIE CROOK is enjoying some familiar company on the Lon= don stage - his three pet tortoises appear alongside him during the play = JERUSALEM.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is currently starring in Jezz Butter= worth’s West End production, which is set in the English countryside.
And he’s provided reptiles from his own plot of woodland in Essex, Engl= and to lend some authenticity to the stageshow at the Apollo Theatre in t= he British capital.
Speaking on The Andrew Marr Show, he says, "I do have some woodland in = Essex. I am an environmentalist… I bought some woodland in Essex three = years ago as a longterm conservation project and to take my children ther= e." His Jerusalem co-star Mark Rylance adds, "He has a herd of tortoises up= there. He provides the tortoises for the play - we have three tortoises = in the play and they come from his herd."

TAYLOR WOOD BUYS $17.6 MILLION LOVENEST

SAM TAYLOR WOOD has splashed out $17.6 million (=C2=A311 million) on a Lo= ndon lovenest to share with fiance AARON JOHNSON.

THE HURT LOCKER LANDS PRODUCERS GUILD OF AMERICA AWARD

THE HURT LOCKER picked up momentum in its race towards Oscar glory by win= ning the top prize at the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards on Sund= ay (24Jan10).
Kathryn Bigelow, who also directed the Iraq war film, was awarded the D= arryl F. Zanuck Producer Of The Year Award at the ceremony, which she sha= red with fellow producers Mark Boal, Nicolas Chartier and Greg Shapiro.
The Hurt Locker competed against ten other films to take home the prize= , including Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Up In The Air and A= vatar, which was helmed by her ex-husband James Cameron.
And she was stunned by her win, admitting, "This is absolutely incredib= le (for) a tough little war film that was shot in the summer in the Middl= e East." Other winners at the 21st Annual PGA Awards included Up in the Best Ani= mated Picture category and The Cove for Best Documentary.
U.S. sitcom 30 Rock landed Best TV Comedy Series, while Mad Men was han= ded Best TV Drama Series.
Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire was honoured with the Gui= ld’s Stanley Kramer Award, handed out to pictures which tackle provocativ= e social issues.

ZETA-JONES MISSES BEING NAKED IN BERMUDA

HAITI TELETHON RAISES RECORD $57 MILLION

GEORGE CLOONEY’s Hope For Haiti Now telethon has raised more than $57 mil= lion (=C2=A335.6 million) for the earthquake relief effort.
Hollywood’s elite, including Jack Nicholson, Ben Affleck and Mel Gibson= , manned telephones during Friday night’s (22Jan10) event, while Alicia K= eys, Madonna, Beyonce, Bono and Christina Aguilera were amongst the stars= who performed live from one of three venues - Los Angeles, New York and = London.
The huge sum raised is a record for telethons according to the Entertai= nment Industry Foundation - and it will be boosted further through the sa= le of songs performed on the show through iTunes.
Speaking to MTV after the event, Clooney, who donated $1 million (=C2=A3= 625,000) of his own money, said, "I hope we made some money out of this. = The only way to make this a success is to make a considerable amount of m= oney."

WELCH BANS BOOZE AT GIGS

FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE star FLORENCE WELCH has banned booze backstage a= t her gigs - so she won’t be tempted to get drunk and launch into her fam= ous on-stage acrobatics.
The singer’s mother recently warned her to stop climbing equipment on s= tage after she witnessed her daughter dangling 30 feet (nine metres) in t= he air at a festival performance last summer (09).

GOOD CHARLOTTE SCRAP ALBUM

Rockers GOOD CHARLOTTE have scrapped their new album, and returned to the= studio to record it again.
Guitarist Benji Madden made the tough decision to wipe the disc after r= eturning from a tour of Australia and listening to the new tracks for the= first time - because he was unhappy with the way it sounded.
The band has now travelled to Vancouver, Canada to start recording Card= iology again, with producer Don Gilmore.
In a message posted on Good Charlotte’s website, Madden explains, "When= we got back from the last trip to Australia, we had pretty much finished= recording the record. I went into the studio to hear some roughs and it = just wasn’t right.
"I couldn’t figure it out. I was so lost. I love the songs, I love the = lyrics, so what was the problem. I was just so bewildered. Devastated act= ually. This had never happened. I felt crazy. Like this. I told our manag= er to just PAUSE everything and I need time to think. I called all the bo= ys immediately and called an emergency meeting. Everyone sat down. And I = just said ‘Guys, we gotta start over’." And his bandmates agreed.
He adds, "I was expecting everyone to freak on me and say ‘What?!’ "But Billy (Martin) was the first to speak, and right away he said ‘I k= new you were gonna say that. My gut is telling me the same thing. Let’s d= o it.’ Everyone agreed."

DUFFY HOLDING BACK BOYZONE

KEITH DUFFY is holding up plans to continue BOYZONE without late bandmate= STEPHEN GATELY - because he is still uncertain about the band’s future.

RAPPER APACHE DIES

Rapper APACHE, who has worked with hip-hop stars TUPAC SHAKUR and FAT JOE= , has died from an undisclosed illness.
The star, who rose to fame as part of Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit crew,= passed away on Friday (22Jan10).
Apache - real name Anthony Peaks - was signed to Tommy Boy records and = was best known for his controversial hit Gangsta B**ch. He also appeared = on tracks by Shakur and A Tribe Called Quest.
His pal, Vin Rock from Grammy-Award winning group Naughty By Nature, te= lls MTV News, "I got a call from (Flavor Unit’s) Shakim (Compere) this mo= rning, Queen Latifah’s manager. He was really feeling it. He told me, and= I spread the word to (DJ) Kay (Gee) and Treach and the rest of our camp.= " Peaks’ age at the time of his death is unknown. DANIELS CREATED A ROLE IN PRECIOUS FOR KRAVITZ=20

Filmmaker LEE DANIELS was so determined to include LENNY KRAVITZ in PRECI= OUS - he build a role in the movie especially for the rocker.
Daniels approached the singer about appearing in his critically-acclaim= ed new picture, Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, but the st= ar had to turn down the offer because he was tied up on tour.
The director insisted on including Kravitz, so he built up a small role= to give the rocker a chance to show off his acting skills.
Kravitz says, "He (Daniels) said he’d been looking for me. I was out on= a long tour and couldn’t accept a major film role. The compromise was (m= y character) Nurse John. This was a way for Lee and I to feel each other = out. The character only makes a fleeting appearance in the book, but Lee = built the role for me. I think it was a good idea to have one positive ma= le role model in Precious’ miserable life." And the musician admits he formed a close bond with Daniels while shoot= ing his role, and has signed up to appear in two more of his movies.
He adds, "Lee and I have grown close as friends and as creative collabo= rators. I’m doing two more films with him."
