RASCAL RANTS AT JOURNALIST

British rapper DIZZEE RASCAL caused a storm at a music festival in Austra= lia by launching an expletive-laden rant at a journalist during an interv= iew.
The star was performing at the Big Day Out concert in Sydney on Friday = (22Jan10) and took part in a series of interviews with local press at the= event.
But the Bonkers hitmaker cut one interview short after he took offence = at the line of questioning, and shocked the female reporter by swearing a= t her profusely and later allegedly demanding she delete the footage of t= he incident.
News.com.au reporter Alison Stephenson asked the star whether he had ev= er fallen over on stage and he replied: "What the f**k do you want from m= e man, I’ve already said I done it. Yeah I stacked it, b**ch. F**k!" Stephenson claims she was later contacted by the rapper’s representativ= es who asked her to delete footage of the bust-up.
She says, "I wasn=E2=80=99t expecting an apology and didn=E2=80=99t rec= eive one. It just comes with the territory. A publicist came running up t= o me declaring I had to go back to the media area immediately and my Dizz= ee Rascal interview had to be deleted. It was about 3.30pm and Dizzee had= a whole afternoon of interviews booked in. He was refusing to do any oth= er press that day until I agreed to delete it, including a radio station = whose team was going into chaos. They were due to go live with the rapper= but he was sitting in his trailer waiting for me to comply.
"I was escorted to Dizzee’s trailer so his U.K. manager and publicist c= ould emerge, watch me sign the document and agree to =E2=80=98just forget= about it and move on.’ All I was told was: =E2=80=98Dizzee wasn’t happy = with it=E2=80=99.=E2=80=9D

COLE’S REP DISMISSES SURGERY RUMOURS

A representative for CHERYL COLE has dismissed rumours the British singer= has undergone cosmetic surgery to plump up her pout.
The Girls Aloud star sparked speculation she has enlisted the help of d= octors after she was spotted sporting noticeably fuller lips on Sunday (2= 4Jan10).
But a spokesperson for Cole, who is also a judge on Simon Cowell’s The = X Factor, is adamant the star has not resorted to collagen injections to = improve her looks.
The rep tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, "She has definitely not (= had cosmetic surgery)."

SCORPIONS SPLIT

Legendary German rockers SCORPIONS are splitting up after 40 years.
The Wind of Change hitmakers announced on their website that they have = decided to walk away from the music industry while they are "on a high no= te." But fans of the band will get their chance to say goodbye - the rockers= are embarking on a two-year farewell tour before hanging up their leathe= r jackets.
A statement on the band’s website reads, "It was always our pleasure, o= ur purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make musi= c for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new s= ongs.
"While we were working on our album these past few months, we could lit= erally feel how powerful and creative our work was - and how much fun we = were still having, in the process. But there was also something else. We = want to end the Scorpion=E2=80=99s extraordinary career on a high note. W= e are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion= for music we=E2=80=99ve always had since the beginning. This is why, esp= ecially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our = career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recor= ded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take = us to five different continents over the next few years.

DIDDY HANDS BIRTHDAY BOY SON A NEW CAR

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS spared no expense for his son’s 16th birthday - he han= ded the teen a brand new sportscar and a cheque for $10,000 (=C2=A36,250)= at a lavish bash on Saturday (23Jan10).
The rapper hosted a red carpet party for his son Justin Dior and 1,000 = pals at New York City’s M2 Ultralounge nightclub, and invited MTV cameras= to film the event for the network’s reality series My Super Sweet 16, ab= out teenagers’ over-the-top birthday celebrations.

Combs also gave Justin a $10,000 cheque - but the teen decided to hand = it over to Wyclef Jean’s foundation, Yele Haiti.

PAXTON CANCELS U.K. TOUR

Veteran singer TOM PAXTON has axed an upcoming tour of the U.K. to care f= or his ailing wife.
The legendary folk musician, who was honoured with a Grammy Lifetime Ac= hievement Award last year (09), was due to embark on a series of gigs in = Britain later this month (Jan10).
But he has cancelled the run of 11 shows because he needs to spend time= with his wife Midge, who is battling illness in Alexandria, Virginia.
Paxton says, "It breaks my heart to have to cancel my U.K. tour, howeve= r I need to be with my wife, Midge, right now. I hope to return later on = in the year to make this up to all my fans."

MOMSEN GLAD SHE’S NOT HANNAH MONTANA

TAYLOR MOMSEN is relieved she lost the role of HANNAH MONTANA to MILEY CY= RUS - because she would have struggled to live up to the teen idol ideal.
The Gossip Girl star was just nine years old when she and Cyrus were se= lected as two of the final three young actresses in the running for the D= isney role.
But now that she’s living the rock ‘n’ roll life with her band The Pret= ty Reckless=E2=80=8E, Momsen is grateful she was cut from the auditions f= or the family-friendly programme.
Momsen explains, "Honestly, if I’d have ended up as Hannah Montana, I d= on’t know if the show would have gone as well. I probably would have told= them all to go f**k themselves by the time I hit 11. And I don’t know ho= w that would have gone down. It’s great for Miley, but I really like wher= e I am right now and I feel really fortunate to be able to really be myse= lf." And after receiving plenty of internet criticism for her revealing fash= ion choices, the 16 year old has warned mothers not to let their children= look up to her.
She adds, "Online, there’s a thousand people who are just so mean. GAYSON OPPOSES COSMETIC SURGERY

Former BOND girl EUNICE GAYSON has vowed never to undergo cosmetic surger= y - because the wrinkles on her face tell the "story of her life".
The actress, who played sultry Sylvia Trench in Dr. No and From Russia = With Love, admits she was born with natural good looks, but she’s never b= een tempted to resort to the surgeon’s knife to turn back the years.
Gayson says, "I am 76 and proud of it. I feel great and I am well. (Cos= metic surgery) is not for me. My face is the story of my life - it’s the = good, the bad, the successes, the failures - there have been some of thos= e! The happiness, the childbirth - it’s all there. I’m fond of my face. I= t’s part of my soul, part of my heart, my mind. Why would I want to negat= e that, submit myself to the surgeon’s knife in exchange for what I consi= der to be a blank canvas? I inherited good genes from my parents, I admit= that, this makes a lot of difference (because) it’s a good head start, e= xcuse the pun." And she overcame it and she bec= ame more beautiful because her soul became more beautiful. Before she was= beautiful, now she was ravishing."

STEWART INJURED AFTER STRIPPER SCENES

KRISTEN STEWART was left covered in bruises after struggling with her pol= e-dancing routine in upcoming film WELCOME TO THE RILEYS.
The actress plays a 16-year-old exotic dancer in the drama, and admits = she was not prepared for the physically gruelling stripping scenes.
She tells E! Online, "I did some pole dancing. I got bruises all over m= y legs. I tore myself up doing it. It sucked. (But) the more I saw it, th= e more I wanted it (to perform). It was like a weird self-hating kind of = thing. The cool thing about my character is she is not sultry and she is = not sexy." Director Jake Scott asked the Twilight beauty to take lessons from a re= al stripper - but insists Stewart was still scared of shedding her clothe= s even though the set was closed off to everyone but cast and crew.
He adds, "She was terrified. The strip club we shot in was really a clu= b, and it really was that dirty and really that tough. But she killed it.= "

DICK WANTS TO TELL HIS SIDE OF ‘ARREST STORY’

ANDY DICK is begging fans to wait to hear his "side" following his arrest= on sex charges over the weekend (23Jan10), according to TV celebrity add= iction expert DR. DREW PINSKY.
The Road Trip star was detained in Huntington, West Virginia in the ear= ly hours of Saturday morning (23Jan10) and arraigned later that day on tw= o counts of felony sexual abuse.
Dick then turned to Pinsky, who counselled him in 2009 on the reality s= how Sober House, to address his fans and ask them not to judge him over t= he incident without hearing the circumstances.
Pinsky wrote on his Twitter.com page on Saturday (23Jan10), "From Andy = at his request: ‘There are two sides to every story. Please reserve judgm= ent until you hear mine. Thank you.’ - Andy Dick" Dick, who underwent individual and group therapy with Pinsky on the U.S= .. series, allegedly grabbed a security guard=E2=80=99s crotch and kissed = a male bar-goer without invitation. He has been released on bail and is d= ue back in court on 2 February (10).

AUSSIE STAR LASANCE ADMITS DRUG CHARGE

Australian actor TODD LASANCE has pleaded guilty to drug possession after= he was caught with cocaine at the HOME AND AWAY Christmas party last mon= th (Dec09).
The star, who plays Aden Jefferies in the popular Aussie soap, appeared= at Sydney’s Downing Centre District Court on Monday (25Jan10) and entere= d a guilty plea to possession of cocaine.
The charge stems from a night out in December (09) when he was arrested= during the show’s festive party at a Sydney club when cops caught him wi= th a bag of white powder.

JAMES CAMERON’s AVATAR has made movie history by overtaking his previous = box-office blockbuster TITANIC as the best-selling international release = of all time.
Cameron’s 3D sci-fi spectacular has replaced his 1997 historical drama = at the top of the movie theatre charts by bringing in a massive $1.84 bil= lion in ticket sales worldwide during its unbroken six-week reign.
Titanic, which won a staggering 11 Academy Awards, racked up $1.84 bill= ion at the box office between 1997 and 1998.

CAREY AND CYRUS JOIN COWELL’S HAITI SINGLE

MARIAH CAREY and MILEY CYRUS are the latest singers to sign up to perform= on SIMON COWELL’s track in aid of earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
The music mogul has been busy lining up celebrities to sing a cover of = R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts, and has so far convinced performers including M= ichael Buble, Rod Stewart, Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis, Take That, James Blu= nt and James Morrison to take part.
Carey was so eager to join in and help the tremor’s survivors, she alte= red her busy schedule to record her vocals.
Cowell says, "We’re getting there. We have had an incredible amount of = support. It’s amazing these great singers are clearing their schedules to= make this happen. I just found out Mariah has changed her schedule to be= able to do this too. It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard= to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all and I’m s= o grateful for the support we are getting." Girls Aloud star Cole adds, "It’s heartbreaking to see what is happenin= g in Haiti. Hopefully the money from Everybody Hurts will help the people= of Haiti rebuild their lives." FONDA TO MAKE FITNESS COMEBACK AT 72

Veteran actress JANE FONDA is set to make a return to fitness instruction= - she’s filming a workout DVD aimed at older women.
The Barbarella star recorded and released a series of hit exercise vide= os throughout the 1980s, and now at the age of 72 she is planning to make= a fitness comeback.
And she’s determined to encourage elderly people sitting at home to get= moving again, insisting, "We will film them in mid-March. Mine will targ= et an audience that has been left out, my age group and the (baby) boomer= s. I want to get to people who have stopped working out or never did." And she’s hoping the project will be as successful as her first tapes, = which were made with very little money: "We had no budget, no hair stylis= t or make-up artists. We did it all ourselves. I wrote the script on a sk= i trip in Calgary (Canada) on the floor of my hotel room."

WOOD ‘CONVINCED RICHARDS TO QUIT DRINKING’

ROLLING STONES rocker KEITH RICHARDS hasn’t sipped alcohol for the last f= our months - after watching his bandmate RONNIE WOOD struggle with his ad= diction to booze.
Doctors ordered Richards, who like Wood has previously battled alcoholi= sm, to cut back after he suffered a brain haemorrhage when he fell out of= a tree during an alcohol-fuelled vacation to Fiji in 2006.
And the 66 year old decided to follow their instruction and begin to lo= ok after his health after watching his pal Wood’s heavy partying reported= ly threaten plans for another Rolling Stones tour.
A source tells Britain’s The Sun, "There’s no guarantees (Richards will= ) stay off it - but he’s doing really well so far. He has always quite en= joyed the fact that he seemed to be able to carry on drinking as much as = he liked with no real negative impact on his health.
"But he has watched Ronnie fall well and truly off the wagon last year = and he doesn’t like what he sees. Plus he has started to feel for the fir= st time like it might do him some good to give up the booze for a while."=

DEPP VICTIM OF ONLINE DEATH HOAXERS

JOHNNY DEPP has become the latest celebrity to be targeted by an online d= eath hoax.
Several internet pranksters alleged Depp had died in a car crash, while= other online reports claim the actor was found dead at his French home.
Messages mourning the star picked up speed as they were spread on Twitt= er.com, but GossipCop.com reveals the actor is "well".

CHER’S BURLESQUE ‘WELLNESS CREW’

Singing superstar CHER spent $2,500 (=C2=A31,550) a week on beauty treatm= ents on the set of her new movie BURLESQUE - according to U.S. tabloid re= ports.
Cher stars alongside Christina Aguilera in the new film, about a small = town girl who finds fame as a dancer.
According to the National Enquirer, the 63 year old hired a team she du= bbed her ‘wellness crew’ to ensure she looked her best in front of the ca= mera.
The treatments reportedly included LED light therapy which "uses a puls= e light to treat dark pigmentation and improve the appearance of small bl= ood vessels in the skin." A source tells the tabloid, "Cher also has a spiritual adviser, homeopa= th and naturopath on standby to keep her mentally and physically centred.

KEATING AUDITIONS FOR THE HOBBIT

Irish singer RONAN KEATING is hoping to launch an acting career - he’s pl= anning a move to Hollywood after auditioning for a part in THE HOBBIT: PA= RT 1.
The Boyzone star is hoping to relocate to America with his wife, Yvonne= , and his children this summer (10) as he attempts to make the transition= into films.
But if his plan succeeds, he may end up having to pack up once again fo= r New Zealand - where Guillermo del Toro’s Lord of the Rings prequel is s= et to be filmed.
He explains, "We are going there (to Hollywood) in July, Yvonne and the= kids. We’ll get the kids enrolled in school there. It may be for six mon= ths or we could even give it a year. We’ll see what happens. I’ve done a = couple of castings… I’ve done an audition for The Hobbit. That starts s= hooting in New Zealand in July so we’d be based there for quite a while i= nstead of L.A. if it happens." Keating joins a long line of celebrities who have been linked to the pr= oject - Tobey Maguire, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, The Office act= or Martin Freeman and James McAvoy have all been rumoured to be involved.
The movie is set to hit theatres next year (11).
