GIBSON QUIT ACTING OVER SIGNS SIGNS

MEL GIBSON temporarily quit acting after starring in SIGNS - because he f= elt like a "ham-fisted dinosaur" on the set of M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN’s 2002 = movie.
The movie star has spent eight years refusing to step in front in front= of the camera because he had such an unpleasant experience making Signs.
Gibson tells the Los Angeles Times that Shyamalan made him realise he n= eeded to take a break to hone his craft.
He explains, "I felt ham-fisted. He (Shyamalan) told me I was just doin= g too much. I looked around… and I was the oldest guy on the set and I = felt like the least sophisticated. I decided I needed to rethink everythi= ng.

CHENOWETH DEFENDS BOTOX INJECTIONS

Actress/singer KRISTIN CHENOWETH has defended her use of Botox - insistin= g she needs age-defying injections to stave off migraine headaches.
The 41-year-old star, who recently hosted the Critics Choice Movie Awar= ds in Los Angeles, regularly has injections to her forehead, but insists = she’s not following the Hollywood trend to look decades younger.
She insists Botox helps her avoid debilitating head pains, which have t= hreatened to wreck her career.

Rockers MGMT channelled KANYE WEST and LADY GAGA for their second album -= as they tried to imagine what life is like for superstars in the spotlig= ht.
The Time To Pretend hitmakers won over fans and critics alike with thei= r 2007 debut Oracular Spectacular, and the New York duo admits they strug= gled to come to terms with their worldwide success.
But when it came time to write a follow-up album, MGMT turned to rapper= West and pop sensation Gaga as they wrote about their own rising levels = of fame.
MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden tells Spin.com, "(After our debut) we were a= group of guys in their mid-20s touring around the world and of course we= are going to party. But after a while we all learned that you can’t just= keep doing that over and over, and the new record addresses those issues= ..
"On some of the new songs, I found myself thinking about Lady Gaga or K= anye West, and what their ultimate goal is. This sounds cheesy, but for u= s it’s really just about the music and getting people to hear what we hav= e to say. Bajan native RIHANNA jumped at the chance to record a charity song benefi= ting the victims of the Haitian earthquake disaster because the devastati= on hit so close to home, it felt like it "happened to Barbados".

Rihanna admits she was rocked when news of the earthquake first broke o= n 12 January (10) because she considers any fellow Caribbean native as pa= rt of her extended family.
She says, "In the Caribbean, we think of ourselves as one big family, o= ne country. We’re all together. We all represent each other. It’s like (t= he earthquake) happened to Barbados." DYLAN TO DEBUT PAINTINGS

Folk rocker-turned-artist BOB DYLAN is to treat fans in Europe to an exhi= bition of his paintings.
The Blowin’ In The Wind hitmaker has spent his downtime from music crea= ting impressionistic drawings for years.
And now he’s agreed to show a dozen acrylic paintings in a travelling e= xhibit dubbed Bob Dylan on Canvas.
The works, based on drawings from his Drawn Blank Series in the 1990s, = will be the first of Dylan’s canvas pieces to be exhibited.
Bob Dylan on Canvas is scheduled to open on 13 February (10) at the Hal= cyon Gallery in London and will travel to the National Gallery of Denmark= in Copenhagen in September (10).

Singer JOSS STONE is baffled by the reaction of her critics in the U.K. -= because she feels "hated" by a large section of the British public.
The You Had Me hitmaker has been slammed for her quirky dress sense and= received a barrage of harsh comments when she affected a fake American a= ccent onstage at the 2007 Brit Awards.
But the singer can’t understand why she garners such negative attention= from her fellow Brits.

DICAPRIO’S ALLEGED ATTACKER AGREES TO U.S. EXTRADITION=20

A woman accused of hitting LEONARDO DiCAPRIO in the face with a glass dur= ing a Hollywood party in 2005 will be extradited from Canada to the U.S. = to face charges.
Former model Aretha Wilson attended a party at the Hollywood Hills home= of Paris Hilton’s ex Rick Salomon when she allegedly slashed the actor’s= face.
According to police reports, the Titanic star needed 17 stitches to his= face and ear.
Wilson, 39, was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with assault with a= deadly weapon but fled the country before sentencing.
According to TMZ.com, Wilson was taken into custody in Ontario last wee= k (begs18Jan10) and has agreed to be extradited back to the U.S.
DiCaprio is expected to testify in the case.

CLOONEY SET TO RETURN TO DARFUR

GEORGE CLOONEY is to follow the sleepless nights he spent organising last= week’s (22Jan10) Hope For Haiti Now telethon by heading back to war-torn= Darfur.
The movie star was the man behind Friday’s star-studded telethon, which= has raised over $60 million (=C2=A337.5 million) so far for the relief e= ffort in earthquake-ravaged Haiti, and now he’s set to return to Africa f= or a new mercy mission.
He says, "I’m on my way there… There are a lot of problems going on. = The North-South agreement is falling apart." Clooney first went to Darfur in 2006, when he recorded a documentary ab= out the struggles of Darfur refugees.
Upon his return, the Oscar winner spearheaded a campaign to lobby U.S. = politicians to do more to help those caught up in the tribal wars.
Clooney told leading politicians, "We can all talk about this and make = speeches and say this is horrible and we have to do something. But every = day we don’t do something, and every day this goes on, thousands of peopl= e are dying and dying horrific deaths."

BRENDAN FRASER is fuming with producers of his latest movie EXTRAORDINARY= MEASURES after they forced him to discover the film’s release date from = a 13-year-old girl.
Fraser stars alongside Harrison Ford in the movie, about a couple’s str= uggle to find a cure for their two children’s rare genetic disorder.
The actor claims he battled for months to find out details about the mo= vie’s cinematic release, only to discover the information he craved in an= email from teenager Megan Crowley, the real life girl the film is based = on.
Crowley’s mother Aileen tells the New York Daily news, "Megan sent an e= -mail to Brendan and all of her friends that there was a website for the = film up and the release date was set for January 22 (10). KERRIGAN’S BROTHER TO FACE ASSAULT CHARGES

Former Olympic figure skater NANCY KERRIGAN’s brother MARK has been charg= ed with assaulting their father, who died on Sunday (24Jan10) following a= mysterious incident at the family’s Massachusetts home.
Police found Daniel Kerrigan, 70, unconscious in the kitchen of his Sto= neham property on Sunday after receiving an emergency call reporting a "s= udden death".
The athlete’s brother, Mark - who was also at the house - was hospitali= sed for an unspecified injury, reports the New York Daily News.
According to a police report filed in court, the 45-year-old son attack= ed his father during an argument about whether he could use the phone.
On Monday (25Jan10), he was charged with assault and battery with a dan= gerous weapon on an elderly person and causing serious bodily injury.

SHAKIRA’S SHE WOLF TANGLED IN PHOTO LAWSUIT

The artist who designed the cover of SHAKIRA’s album SHE WOLF has filed s= uit against the pop star’s label Sony - alleging company bosses owe him $= 64,000 (=C2=A340,000).
Art director Lee Swillingham signed a $63,000 (=C2=A339,375) contract w= ith the company last spring (09) for his services and was paid half the s= um up front, reports the New York Post.
According to court documents, he earned $5,000 (=C2=A33,125) a day for = extra work, totalling an additional $36,000 (=C2=A322,500).
The contract included a clause stating Sony owes nothing if the record = label isn’t pleased with the final project.
Swillingham’s lawyer, Sam Israel, has accused the company of falsely cl= aiming it didn’t find the work satisfactory while using the images Swilli= ngham created for the album.
A Sony spokesperson had not responded to requests for a comment as WENN= went to press.

ELTON JOHN PERFORMING AT MAYAN RUINS
