SUGABABES are helping to raise awareness of cervical cancer - because the= British band was shocked to learn about the severity of the disease.
The Push the Button hitmakers are headlining the Fight Cervical Cancer = In Style event in London on Wednesday (27Jan10) in a bid to educate women= about the disease.
The trio is calling for females to make sure they undergo regular smear= tests to check their health.
Speaking on U.K. TV show Live From Studio Five, singer Heidi Range says= , "We’re just really pleased to be part of the campaign, raising awarenes= s for girls to go and get regular smears and just raise awareness." Bandmate Amelle Berrabah adds, "We work for a lot of charities anyway a= nd as soon as we heard about it we were really interested… and just for= the simple fact as well that we learned so much. When they told us some = of the facts, we were like, ‘Are you joking?’ "Three people a day die from cervical cancer… it’s the most common ca= ncer in women from the age of 20 to 29, the second most common cancer fro= m under 35. You might as well go and get a smear and check it out because= it’s your life you’re playing with here and it’s so easy, it takes five = minutes out of your time and you could save yourself a lot of trouble in = the future."

CHRISTINA MILIAN is facing legal action from an 81-year-old neighbour, wh= o alleges the R&B singer’s dog brutally attacked him in 2008.
Leo Skolion filed legal papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court ear= lier this month (Jan10), claiming the Dip It Low hitmaker is responsible = for negligence and causing the attack which left him with "severe persona= l injuries".
In the documents, Skolion explains he approached Milian to discuss her = home’s "flooding problems", which allegedly left a gate between their pro= perties damaged.
But he alleges one of the star’s dogs escaped and took "a huge chunk" o= ut of the back of his arm, leaving him in need of 19 stitches.
Skolion claims he is still receiving psychiatric help for depression an= d fear as a result of the attack.
He is suing Milian, as well as her mum, Carmen, and sister, Danielle, f= or an undisclosed amount, according to TMZ.com.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star NEAL MCDONOUGH is celebrating after welcoming h= is third child - a baby girl.

Troubled actor GARY COLEMAN has a fan to thank for his release from priso= n - a stranger posted the star’s bail money.
The Diff’rent Strokes star was arrested and jailed on Sunday (24Jan10) = after police discovered a misdemeanour failure to appear warrant for Cole= man and took him into custody.
Coleman was released from the Utah prison on Monday (25Jan10), after th= e $1,725 (=C2=A31,080) bail was handed over.
It has now emerged businessman Jarrod Clarke of Draper, Utah, paid the = money after seeing the star’s "sad" mugshot in the press.
And Clarke is such a fan of the former child star, he even offered to g= ive him a ride home - but Coleman’s dad picked him up instead.
Clarke tells GossipCop.com, "If you see his mugshot, I mean, what a sad= face… To see that he was sitting in there - and he’d been there for 27= hours - and bail was only $1,700, I thought somebody probably ought to d= o something." Coleman’s wife reportedly rang Clarke to thank him for the kind gesture= ..

The woman who accused illusionist DAVID COPPERFIELD of sexually assaultin= g her has been charged with prostitution.
Lacey Carroll claimed Copperfield raped her on his private island in th= e Bahamas in 2007, but federal prosecutors dropped the investigation earl= ier this month (Jan10) after her credibility was called into question.
And now Carroll is at the centre of a new investigation after she was q= uestioned by Washington state police over allegations she tried to extort= $2,000 (=C2=A31,250) from a businessman for sex.
An official police report suggests she told a businessman she would hav= e intercourse with him for cash after performing oral sex on him in a hot= el room in Bellevue, Washington on 2 December (09).
When he refused to pay, the woman complained to hotel staff she had bee= n "taken advantage of." She called the cops to report harassment and was taken to have a rape e= xamination. Her account of events was questioned by cops after they viewe= d the hotel’s security footage, reports TMZ.com.
And now the Bellevue City Prosecutor’s Office in Washington has filed c= harges against her.
