JOE JACKSON’S ALLOWANCE PETITION TO BE HEARD IN MAY
MICHAEL JACKSON’s father will have to wait until May (10) to learn whethe= r he can pursue a petition for a monthly allowance from his late son’s es= tate.
Joe Jackson filed a claim for a monthly stipend of over $15,000 (=C2=A3= 9,375) in November (09), claiming he relied on the King of Pop’s help to = survive as he had little income of his own.
In legal papers obtained by TMZ.com, Joe asked for the cash to cover "m= aintenance expenses" and to "support his children or grandchildren".
However, the Jackson family patriarch’s bid was met with hostility from= the Thriller star’s estate - administrators John Branca and John McClain= filed documents opposing the claim last week (ends22Jan10).
The case was heard in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (28Jan10),= when Judge Mitchell Beckloff set a preliminary hearing for 26 May (10). =
