EXHIBITION TO MARK HUTCHENCE’S BIRTHDAY
A collection of photographs of late INXS frontman MICHAEL HUTCHENCE will = go on display in Australia on Friday (22Jan10) - to mark what would have = been the star’s 50th birthday.
Hutchence was found hanged in a Sydney hotel room in 1997 at the age of= 37. The singer would have turned 50 on 22 January 2010, and his friend, = photographer Serge Thomann, has arranged for a special display of picture= s to be projected on to the wall of the Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melb= ourne on Friday night.
The building is of special significance as Hutchence was buried in Sydn= ey on the day he was due to play a gig at the venue.
Thomann admits he’s happy to share his private collection of pictures w= ith the public to help remember his late pal.
He says, "I owe a lot to Michael. He persuaded me to take up photograph= y professionally after he saw my photos from his 1985 concert (in) Melbou= rne. It was the best career advice I ever had.
"It means a lot to me to be able to remember him by sharing my collecti= on, for free, with his many fans. It is my special 50th Birthday present = to Michael and his numerous fans."
