MIDLER STAGES HAITI BENEFIT AT LAS VEGAS CONCERT
BETTE MIDLER raised more than $35,000 (=C2=A321,875) during a single Las = Vegas concert on Saturday (16Jan10) to benefit earthquake-devastated Hait= i.
The singer was on-stage performing her The Showgirl Must Go On gig at S= in City’s Caesars Palace when she began collecting donations from the aud= ience to send to the Doctors Without Borders charity.
She promised to match whatever her fans pledged and encouraged them to = give generously before launching into her hit Wind Beneath My Wings.
Fans handed over more than $19,000 (=C2=A311,875) - and Midler kept her= word, taking the total collections pot to $38,742 (=C2=A324,200).
She’s since vowed to match donations at every performance until her fin= al show on the 31 January (10), when her two-year Las Vegas stint ends, a= ccording to VegasDeluxe.com.
