VAMPIRE WEEKEND SINK THEIR TEETH INTO THE TOP OF THE U.S. ALBUM CHARTS
Cult act VAMPIRE WEEKEND have scored their first U.S. number one album af= ter ending seven weeks of girl power at the top of the Billboard 200.
Susan Boyle and Ke$ha ruled the end-of-the-year and early 2010 charts, = but the New York band have taken over, thanks to debut-week sales of 124,= 000.
Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream holds at number two, while Ke$ha’s Animal fal= ls to three, Lady GaGa’s The Fame drops to four and The Element of Freedo= m by Alicia Keys rounds out the new top five.
Lady GaGa enjoys double success in the top 10 - her Fame Monster album = jumps up from 10 to six.
