A website aimed at boosting the profile of French First Lady CARLA BRUNI-SARKOZY proved so popular with fans, it crashed within minutes of launching.
The singer, married to France’s leader Nicolas Sarkozy, launched her very own website to provide devotees with selections of her music, charity work and fashion blogs.
Sarkozy’s advisers are believed to have pushed the venture in a bid to gain popularity for the president through his former model wife.
And it seemingly worked - so many people tried to log on to the website as it launched on Monday (05Oct09), it immediately crashed - and remained out of action for several hours.

LINDSAY LOHAN’s outspoken father MICHAEL has sensationally accused his daughter of harbouring a prescription drug habit - voicing his fears she will suffer the same fate as MICHAEL JACKSON and HEATH LEDGER.
The Mean Girls star has faced a dramatic fall from grace since her days as Disney’s golden girl, and has become more famous for her hard-partying and relationships than her acting.
In recent weeks, many tabloid publications have focused on her seemingly fragile state after she was spotted looking old and worryingly thin.
Now, in an interview with Radaronline.com, her dad claims the star is fighting an addiction to prescription drugs, and that she is no longer the daughter he brought up.
He tells the website, "I’m going to get her off the prescription drugs that she’s on. I hate it when people talk about illegal drug abuse… because it’s not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson.
"You know why Lindsay’s not acting in feature films right now? Because she can’t. Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that’s grown because of the prescription drugs. She can’t be herself. When you hug her she’s like, vacant inside. When she kisses or holds me I get chills, and not in a good way - in a bad way.
"She’s a different person. I was out there for a week when she was living at the Sunset Marquis Hotel and I would sit there and cry. It was horrible. This was not the kid I raised."

JAMIE FOXX gave late night audiences a laugh on Monday (05Oct09) with a new kid-friendly version of his hit song BLAME IT - after angry parents berated him for encouraging young children to drink.
The song’s hook, "Blame it on the alcohol", has become a popular phrase among kids who sing the catchy tune in between class, according to Foxx - who has been approached by parents of his teenage daughter’s classmates.
Foxx debuted his child-friendly alternative on The Jay Leno Show, taking the stage as the TV audience roared with laughter.
He sang: "Blame it on the juice/’Cause you’re only two/Blame it on the juice/Whatcha gonna do/Blame it on the apple juice." But the comedian insists the issue is no laughing matter.
He explained to Leno, "I got a lot of flack for that because the kids started singing the song. I would go to my daughter’s school and (the) parents go, ‘How dare you have my child bringing flasks of Hennessy to the school?’ They were upset with me. So my manager’s daughter came up with the idea to change the song a little bit so the kids would have something to sing."

Two men have been arrested in connection to the theft of U.K. folk rockers NOAH AND THE WHALE’s tour equipment last month (Sep09).
The Five Years Time group was stunned to find all its instruments and sound equipment had been stolen from a hotel car park in Manchester, England on 29 September, part-way through the band’s U.K. tour.
Frontman Charlie Fink urged fans to look out for the items on online auction sites eBay and Gumtree in case the thieves were trying to sell them off to unsuspecting musicians.
Now, police have taken two men, aged 31 and 40, into custody in nearby Salford after officers found the trailer and an amplifier allegedly belonging to the band at a property on Friday (02Oct090).

Legendary singer ANDY WILLIAMS risked the wrath of FRANK SINATRA - after he shared a secret dance with MIA FARROW.
The veteran crooner got up close to the Rosemary’s Baby actress at a nightclub when she was wed to Sinatra during the mid-1960s.
He admits he was nervous of how the notoriously volatile My Way star would react - but Farrow was eventually pulled away by her Peyton Place co-stars Ryan O’Neal and Barbara Parkins.
Williams says, "He lived down the street when he was married to Mia. I always got along very well with Frank. Everyone knows he had two sides to him - the good side and the bad side.
"I was in a disco in Beverly Hills and Mia came over and said, ‘Do you wanna dance?’ and I said okay. That wasn’t a good idea, I don’t think. We were dancing, and she said ‘Don’t worry, Frank isn’t here’ and I said ‘Yeah, but he will find out’. And suddenly - thankfully - Ryan O’Neal and Barbara Parkins came over and untangled her arms from around my neck and said, ‘Time to go home’.
"You don’t want to do that (offend Sinatra). I never did. I was always on the right side of Frank, and I loved him. I thought he was a great guy."

British soul singer CORINNE BAILEY RAE has returned to the recording studio for the first time since the tragic death of her musician husband last year (08).
Jason Rae, a member of superproducer Mark Ronson’s band, died from an accidental drug overdose in March 2008.
The Put Your Records On hitmaker has shied away from the spotlight since the incident, but she recently stepped back into the studio to write some new music and admits her tracks are a lot darker than her previous work.
But singer/songwriter Bailey Rae admits she almost put down her pen for good because the pain of her loss was so unbearable.
She says, "I did think I could never do this sort of thing again, because if anyone asked me about Jason, I would just explode.
"For a long time, I didn’t even try to write. It was just too big a thing, too raw."

MELROSE PLACE actress BROOKE BURNS is appealing for help finding her pet pooch after it went missing on Saturday (03Oct09).
The star and her daughter Madison, nine, have been left "devastated" after three-year-old black Maltipoo Max escaped from the house when painters left a door in their Toluca Lake, California home open.
The Burns are now asking for locals to help keep a look out for the dog and are offering a reward of $250 (£170) for its safe return, reports PeoplePets.com.
The actress is not alone in mourning the loss of her pup - Jessica Simpson’s beloved Maltipoo Daisy was snatched by a coyote last month (Sep09).

Actress and model MIMI WEDDELL has died, aged 94.
Weddell died at her home in Manhattan on 24 September (09), her daughter Sarah Dillon has confirmed.
She became well-known for her flamboyant headwear, which was prominently featured in a 2008 documentary about her life, entitled Hats Off.
Her acting credits include small roles in 1980s films including Dracula’s Last Rites, horror spoof Student Bodies, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Heartburn, and more recently, 2005’s Hitch. She also enjoyed a cameo role in hit U.S. TV series Sex and the City.
As a fashion model, Weddell appeared advertisements for Louis Vuitton, Nike, Burberry and Juicy Couture. She also appeared in photo spreads for American Vogue and Vanity Fair.
Still charismatic at age 90, she was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful New Yorkers by New York magazine in 2005.

Recovering alcoholic ROB LOWE refuses to drink even a sip of wine, fearing he could relapse at any moment.
The actor, who went to rehab in the 1980s to deal with substance abuse demons, has been sober for the last 19 years - but still avoids alcohol so he isn’t tempted to fall back into old habits.
When asked if he enjoys the occasional glass, Lowe tells Britain’s Hello magazine, "Never ever. For me, what works is early on I bought into the very standard thing about sobriety. You either are an addict/alcoholic or you are not. Some people say, ‘You were 26 years old, maybe it’s different now.’ They may be right. But for me, it’s not worth finding out.
"At that moment it (sobriety) made all the difference in my life. I don’t know that my life would be where it is today without it. And I love my life today. So I look back thinking it’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever done."

Actors JIM BELUSHI and BROOKE SHIELDS were involved in a minor plane crash in California on Friday (02Oct09) when the pilot forgot to engage the brakes after landing the aircraft safely.
The stars were disembarking a Cessna plane on the Hearst Castle estate in San Luis Obispo when the aircraft rolled forward and hit a parked sports utility vehicle (SUV).
No one was hurt in the incident but the collision was reported to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), reports TMZ.com.

Incarcerated director ROMAN POLANSKI has lost his bid for freedom after the Swiss Justice Ministry denied his appeal for release.
The Chinatown filmmaker has been behind bars in Zurich, Switzerland since 26 September (09), when he was arrested in connection to a 1977 child sex crime.
He is currently fighting extradition to the U.S. to face sentencing for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor - a charge he pleaded guilty to before fleeing to France in 1978.
Polanski’s lawyers argue U.S. authorities’ attempts to fly the star back to America to face punishment are illegal.
But their request for the Swiss Justice Ministry to release him until an official decision is made on the extradition was rejected on Tuesday (06Oct09) - because he is deemed to be a flight risk.
Swiss ministry spokesman Folco Galli says, "We continue to be of the opinion that there is a high risk of flight." Galli admits U.S. officials have yet to formally request Polanski’s extradition, but he’s adamant it’s only a matter of time.
He adds, "I assume this is a priority case in the United States."

KYLIE MINOGUE feared she would never perform again after she was diagnosed with cancer.
The Spinning Around singer was given the news she had breast cancer in 2005 and underwent intense chemotherapy treatment, causing her to lose her hair.

British singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS is refusing to embark on a tour to seal his comeback - because his last trek sent him into a rehabilitation centre.
The Angels hitmaker hit the road in the U.K. three years ago on his Close Encounters tour, promoting his 2006 record Rudebox.
He was forced to scrap a string of shows in Asia shortly afterwards due to exhaustion - and he doesn’t plan to repeat the experience any time soon.
Williams says, "I cannot imagine touring again in the near future. I’ve smashed my head against a wall too many times. I know it’s harder than I am.
"I felt great when I started to promote a record but it soon began to kill me. I felt worse when on tour. I suffered a nervous breakdown and checked into rehab."

GEORGE MICHAEL has reportedly split with his partner KENNY GOSS after 13 years.
Goss is said to have walked out on the singer at Christmas (08), just three months after the Michael was arrested in a toilet on London’s Hampstead Heath, but the pair tried to keep their relationship split a secret, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror.
A source tells the publication, "Kenny had given George many chances. But after the Hampstead Heath incident he said he couldn’t take any more. Everyone knew George wasn’t just in there to do drugs - the place is well known as a place to pick up men.
"Despite George saying they had an open relationship, Kenny never agreed with George’s urges to go out cruising for other men, or with his excessive use of cannabis. He is embarrassed by what George had put him through. They had been due to marry on their 10th anniversary back in 2006, but Kenny told him it was off unless he changed his ways. But it seems George just couldn’t." The publication alleges the Wham! star spiralled into a deep depression following the break-up, worrying friends with his reclusive and erratic behaviour.

The paramedic accused of trying to extort money from JOHN TRAVOLTA following the death of his son wanted to become the "Bahamian Robin Hood", according to secret footage viewed by jurors on Monday (05Oct09).
The clips, screened to the Nassau jury, showed the actor’s attorney Michael McDermott speaking to ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne, while his lawyer, politician Pleasant Bridgewater, can be heard on the phone loudspeaker.
Lightbourne and Bridgewater are accused of trying to extort millions of dollars from the Grease star by threatening to sell stories to the media about his son Jett’s death during a family vacation earlier this year (09).
In secret footage filmed at McDermott’s hotel room, Bridgewater can be heard telling the attorney that Lightbourne wants at least $20 million (£13.3 million) in return for keeping private documents out of the press.
Prosecutors claim the footage shows Lightbourne wanted to hand out the cash to Bahamas poor residents.
In the tape, he can be heard telling McDermott, "I was poor all my life, you know, me and my family. We struggling all my life. I wanted to do things for charity all of my life. I assume I’m in a position now, not only for me to help the less fortunate out there - so that figure ($20 million) just come to my head." McDermott then quips, "You’re a Bahamian Robin Hood!" McDermott last week (01Oct09) revealed the defendants approached him with the bribery plot after the 16-year-old suffered a seizure.
He described receiving a phone call from Bridgewater on 12 January (09) - 10 days after Jett died - threatening to release Travolta’s signed Refusal of Treatment/Transportation form to the press if their demands for cash weren’t met.
Bahamas authorities then set up hidden cameras in McDermott’s hotel room to film meetings with Lightbourne.
Bridgewater and Lightbourne deny extortion. The trial continues.
