REYNOLDS AVOIDS FANSITES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

RYAN REYNOLDS has stopped reading his fans’ websites - because the action star has uncovered galleries of disturbing pictures of himself online.
The X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor admits he’s gotten carried away looking at pages supporters have dedicated to his career - but their fantasies have become so unnerving, the actor is now avoiding the computer altogether.
He explains, "I have (read about myself online) before. It’s a horrible thing to do. It’s been a great equaliser because the last time I did, I found a couple of websites that are real.
"One was ‘Make Ryan Reynolds Your Biatch’. I didn’t get into it too much because I know there are going to be photoshopped pictures of me with a ball gag and nipple clamps."

MACFARLANE HITS BACK AT FEY’S ‘DRUNK’ COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

FAMILY GUY creator SETH MACFARLANE has hit back at 30 ROCK star TINA FEY - after she suggested at this year’s (09) Emmy Awards that he struggles with alcohol abuse.
Presenting the show’s first award last month (20Sep09) Fey took a jab at MacFarlane in front of the star-studded audience and millions of TV viewers.
She said: "Let’s linger on this magical time at the beginning of the evening when everyone is still a winner. And Seth McFarlane is only pretty drunk." But MacFarlane has defended his drinking - and admits he wishes Fey had targeted another celebrity during her speech.
He says, "You know, I was (drinking) but that’s a seven hour long show… I was just kind of shocked like, ‘Really? You can’t find someone who is more recognisable?’ I think most people were wondering, ‘Who is that guy? And I wonder if he has a serious problem.’"

ACCUSED LETTERMAN EXTORTIONIST IS NETWORK COLLEAGUE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

The man accused of attempting to extort $2 million (£1.3 million) from U.S. talk show host DAVID LETTERMAN has been exposed as a top TV producer.
On Thursday (01Oct09) Letterman revealed he had become the victim of a bribery plot over his sexual affairs with several female members of staff.
The blackmailer demanded the cash to keep the information out of the public domain - but Letterman turned to authorities and the man was arrested in New York on Thursday.
CBS network chiefs have now unveiled the identity of the alleged extortionist - producer Robert ‘Joe’ Halderman, who works on the channel’s true crime programme 48 Hours.
Halderman was reportedly involved in a relationship with Letterman’s former assistant Stephanie Birkitt, who allegedly enjoyed an affair with Letterman until 2003.
A statement released by TV bosses on Thursday reads, "CBS was made aware of an ongoing police investigation involving David Letterman and an employee at 48 Hours, who was subsequently arrested earlier today on charges of attempted grand larceny in the first degree." Halderman has since been suspended from his job pending further investigation.
Letterman married longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko in March (09).

LETO DEFENDS RECORD LABEL WAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 pm

30 SECONDS TO MARS frontman JARED LETO is proud the band battled against record giant EMI - and has vowed to do it again.
The rockers were sued by the parent company of their label Virgin Music for $30 million (£20 million) over claims they failed to produce an agreed number of albums.
They refused to buckle to the demands of industry bosses and fought back - and the case was eventually settled earlier this year (09).
Although part of the agreement is that the band does not discuss the details, Leto insists it was a battle worth fighting.
He tells Kerrang! magazine, "There were many, many f**king brutal days. We were dragged through the ringer. It was not an easy fight… It was an impossible battle, against a bigger, wealthier and stronger opponent.
"But we were fighting for very specific things; we were fighting for fairness, and the right to be treated as people rather than as a commodity. (People) say that there is no fight like the fight of the just. There wasn’t a day went by that we questioned the choice we were making, which was to go to war. And if we had to go through it all again we would do it exactly the same."

HANKS’ LEGAL BATTLE GETS GO-AHEAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

TOM HANKS has won the latest round of his legal battle with a construction company he has accused of "shoddy" workmanship.
Hanks and wife Rita Wilson hired contractors Storey Construction to build their Sun Valley, Idaho villa in 2000 but tried to take the firm to a tribunal after discovering faults with the work.
Storey Construction bosses refused to attend the hearing, insisting they had already been to arbitration, with a lower court later ratifying their claim.
But on Wednesday (30Sep09), the Idaho Supreme Court unanimously ruled Hanks can take the dispute to a hearing by an impartial third-party.
And the Hollywood couple hopes the ruling will benefit others in the same situation.
A statement from the pair reads, "We believe the Supreme Court’s decision will have an impact far beyond our case, helping homeowners who have been wronged in ways that remain hidden long after their home has been built. Like anyone else in the same position, we simply wanted Storey Construction to reimburse us for what we have spent fixing shoddy and defective construction." The stars first battled Storey Construction in a disagreement over payment - the firm sought arbitration after alleging the couple failed to settle the bill.

SUTHERLAND: ‘I COULD BE KILLED OFF FROM 24′

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

KIEFER SUTHERLAND fears his 24 character JACK BAUER will be killed off - because the hit U.S. show could easily continue without him.
Show insiders are concerned it faces the axe by executives at U.S. TV network Fox at the end of its upcoming eighth season.
As a precautionary measure, producers have written a series of alternative endings in case they are forced to bring the franchise to an early conclusion.
And Sutherland fears he might not survive the chop even if 24 continues.
He says, "All of us, from the actors to writers, understood from day one we are not, and never will be, the heartbeat of the show. If you look at the major characters to have died over the years you know you can be killed off, and the show will get better without you.
"The real star of 24 has always been the concept of doing this show in ‘real time’." But the star admits he wouldn’t be very happy if he was written out of the show: "When I go, I’ll be going kicking and screaming."

GRANT: ‘I THINK I’M CRAZY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

HUGH GRANT is shocked at how life in Hollywood has changed him - he fears it has turned him crazy.
The Notting Hill star admits movie superstardom has turned him into a "monster", and he now has a series of demands when filming.
He says, "I think I have gone a bit crazy. I am deeply spoiled. In the bedroom of my trailer on a film, I insist they wash the duvet. It has to be a new duvet cover and pillowcases and they have to be washed at least seven times in non-bio powder. What kind of monster have I become?…
"I was poor and now I’m rich, so that’s nice. I pay people to laugh at my jokes. And it’s an ego trip. There’s no point in beating around the bush (messing about). On publicity days, there has to be a lot of champagne knocking around. I can’t do photoshoots without a glass of champagne in my hand."

GALLAGHER JOINS BEE CRUSADE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

OASIS frontman LIAM GALLAGHER is campaigning to save bees - because without honey, he’d be unable to sing.
The rocker was forced to pull out of Britain’s V Festival in August (09) when he was struck down with laryngitis, and used honey to soothe his vocal cords.
Now he has joined a campaign to preserve the buzzing insects after a worrying drop in their numbers across the U.K.
Gallagher says, "You’ve got to look after the birds and the bees, man. The bees are vanishing. We’ve got to save them before they all buzz off.
"It’s important. It’s a really worthwhile cause. Without them we’re in proper bother. I like honey. If it weren’t for honey, I’d have a rough voice."

SUMNER’S TERROR OVER JAWS DRAMA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

NEW ORDER star BERNARD SUMNER was left fearing for his life after his luxury yacht almost sank when a shark rammed it.
The Blue Monday hitmaker was sailing off the coast of Scotland with his family in August (09) when he felt a massive thump on the side of the boat.
Sumner radioed the coastguard and was told several sharks had been spotted in the area, leaving him petrified the vessel would be sunk by the creatures, in an echo of classic Steven Spielberg movie Jaws.
Describing the experience as the "hairiest moment" of his 25 years sailing, he says: "It actually happened. I had a collision with a 30-foot shark. The boat nearly sank and there was a big imprint of a huge shark in the paint on its bottom.
"There was this God-almighty crash, like I’d hit rocks. I checked the charts and there were no rocks, so I called the coastguard and he said other boats that had been up there that morning had reported six large sharks in that part of the sea. My family were in bed so I’m pulling the floorboards up every 10 minutes to see if we’d taken on water."

COYNE SWEARS OFF DRUGS AFTER BANDMATE’S BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

THE FLAMING LIPS frontman WAYNE COYNE was so terrified watching his bandmate STEVEN DROZD’s battle with heroin, he has vowed never to take the drug.
Drozd fought a lengthy addiction to heroin, which was documented in the group’s 2005 film The Fearless Freaks.
The musician is currently clean, and Coyne has sworn never take hard drugs in case he becomes hooked.
He says, "I don’t take drugs myself but I’m not against some experimentation. I think artistic and creative people are interested in all kinds of experiences. People want to explore the world on their own terms and drugs are a part of that.
"Our music is always going to be connected with that. We may not be on actual drugs but our music comes from music which was influenced by them.
"However, heroin is a horrible drug and we suffered as a band through it. It’s horribly addictive and takes over people’s lives which it did with Steven. He has an addictive nature anyway and I’m sure if I ever took it, I’d be addicted too."

JONES SHUNS RETIREMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

Veteran crooner TOM JONES is happy to turn 70 next year (10) - because he has no plan to hang up his microphone and retire.
The Welsh legend will hit the milestone in June, but instead of eyeing retirement he is enjoying the ongoing success of his career.
And the Delilah hitmaker insists age has not taken its toll on his body - his famous vocals are stronger than ever.
He says, "I’ve just got to be pleased that I’ve come this far, you know. I’m going to be 70 next year, I think it’s great. Some people go ‘Ooh, getting older’ and this, that and the other. I mean, what’s the alternative? "The older I get… I enjoy what I’ve done and what’s happened through my career, you know, so I’ve got a lot of memories. But I mean my voice is still strong and I love going on stage because I love to sing. Even if I wasn’t a professional singer, I’d be singing anyway because that’s the way it is."

OZZY REGRETS FILMING THE OSBOURNES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

OZZY OSBOURNE regrets participating in his hit reality TV series THE OSBOURNES, because he struggled to cope with the ensuing media attention cast upon the clan.
The rocker has sold more than 100 million albums with metal group Black Sabbath, but he insists his profile skyrocketed to new levels after the debut of his MTV show, which documented the domestic lives of his immediate family and ran from 2002 to 2005.
And he grew uncomfortable with his increased fame, branding the TV deal an "experiment that went wildly out of control".
He explains, "It was as if I went to bed in one world and woke up in a completely different world.
"We went down to this market in Beverly Hills where you can just walk around artwork and statues and dolls and all this stuff and I got this really creepy feeling. I look around. People aren’t looking, but I could feel eyes on me. I thought I was getting paranoid or something." And the 60 year old insists he’ll never repeat the experience - although his wife, Sharon, continues to find TV work on show America’s Got Talent.
He adds, "I don’t really want to do TV. I don’t like doing TV much. Sharon loves it."

PALIN VALUES BRITISH HISTORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

MONTY PYTHON star MICHAEL PALIN has urged his fellow Britons to stop feeling ashamed of the U.K.’s colonial past.
The A Fish Called Wanda funnyman insists the British Empire is not something U.K. citizens should apologise for - because it forged links with nations outside of Europe.
He tells Geographical magazine, "If we say that all of our past involvement with the world was bad and wicked and wrong, I think we’re doing ourselves a great disservice. We still have links with other countries - culturally, politically, and socially - that we shouldn’t forget."

GERVAIS FEARED MOVIE BACKLASH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

British comic RICKY GERVAIS has no problems with any negative reviews his career garners - and insists if work dries up he’ll enjoy the quiet life.
The star has enjoyed a hugely successful run since writing his debut British TV comedy The Office for the BBC, selling the concept to America and landing a series of roles in Hollywood blockbusters.
Although Gervais admits he used to worry about the public turning on him, he is now happy for people to critique his work - as it’s all part of the Tinseltown process.
He says, "I used to fear the backlash. Then I realised that everyone has got to get together and sign a petition for a backlash. I won’t stop until I get bored, or until no one’s buying tickets or watching me. I’ve no problem with critics. For an artist to whinge about critics is like a sailor moaning about some s**tty waves." And he is convinced he would still love life if his fans turn their back on him - joking that he’d spend his time saving ailing cats.
He says, "If it all goes really bad and no one wants me to direct a film or I can’t get a thing on the BBC or whatever, I’ll go for walks, go swimming and help injured blind kittens."

HOGAN TO APPEAL RELEASE OF PRIVATE TAX DOCUMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

Australian actor PAUL HOGAN has won the right to appeal against the public release of personal legal documents as part of his ongoing tax case.
The Crocodile Dundee star is currently under investigation by the Australian Crime Commission amid allegations he sent money into tax havens abroad.
Hogan challenged a June (09) decision to release his private documents relating to the multi-million dollar fraud case, and an attorney representing media companies Fairfax and News Limited was in court on Friday (02Oct09) to contest the application.
The lawyer argued the publication ban should be lifted as there is great public interest in the papers.
But he couldn’t convince the three judges at Sydney’s High Court, who granted Hogan leave to appeal the decision in what is expected to be a one-day hearing.
Hogan has denied all allegations of fraud.

50 CENT APOLOGISES FOR WEST ‘GAY TOUR’ JIBES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:48 am

Rapper 50 CENT has apologised for comments suggesting KANYE WEST and LADY GAGA’s now defunct tour was for gay people - insisting he didn’t mean to cause any offence.
The In Da Club hitmaker took aim at West over his plans to tour with the Poker Face singer, telling New York radio host Angie Martinez that the hip-hop star targets the gay community to sell records.
He quipped, "I have nothing against them, but he’s cool with them. He goes, drops his video off to them. Remember 808s & Heartbreak? Where’d he premiere it? Ellen DeGeneres. He went there to premiere his video. He’s conscious of the gay community and wants them to buy his CDs." 50 Cent added that West and Gaga’s Fame Kills tour, which was cancelled without explanation on Thursday (01Oct09), was the "gay tour".
But after gay rights groups slammed the comments as homophobic, the rapper has taken to his website to insist his words were taken out of context.
He says, "During an interview with Angie Martinez yesterday, certain comments I made were taken entirely out of context.
"When I referred to the Lady Gaga tour as ‘the gay tour,’ I was basically repeating what I thought she had referred to the tour in the past.
"It was not my intention to offend anyone. I don’t have a problem with anyone’s lifestyle and have no issue with Lady Gaga. She makes great music." It was not known why the Fame Kills tour was scrapped as WENN went to press.

JOE JACKSON’S OKTOBERFEST APPLICATION DECLINED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:48 am

MICHAEL JACKSON’s father JOE has allegedly been banned from attending a beer festival in Munich, Germany - because organisers insists he should be mourning the loss of his son.
Jackson is alleged to have asked for VIP tickets to Germany’s legendary Oktoberfest, an annual 16-day beer event which occurs at the beginning of every October (09).
But the event’s bosses decided to decline Jackson’s application because it’s too soon after the tragic passing of the King of Pop, according to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
Oktoberfest boss Sepp Kraetz tells the publication, "I don’t think you can happily party just after your son has been buried." Joe Jackson has previously come under fire for seemingly using press conferences following the death of his son in June (09) to promote his new music business ventures.
