Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:42 pm

British actress NATASCHA MCELHONE is campaigning to wipe out deadly tetanus - after she was struck by the devastation it wreaks during a trip to Africa.

She adds, "It’s essential to keep all these great fires that he started going and I definitely feel… not an obligation but a sense of joy about doing that."

ALLEY BLASTS TABLOID’S ‘FAT’ REPORT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:42 pm

Actress KIRSTIE ALLEY has blasted a tabloid report suggesting she "collapsed" and "broke down in tears" over her ballooning weight.
The former Cheers star has battled the bulge for years and was until recently a spokesmodel for U.S. weightloss company Jenny Craig - after slimming down.
But recent photos of the actress show she has piled on the pounds again, and earlier this week (begs28Sep09), a National Enquirer article suggested Alley had checked into the Cal-a-Vie health spa in California last month (Sep09) to seek professional help after losing control of her diet and watching her weight "soar to a record 250 pounds".
The tabloid even went so far as to suggest Alley’s condition had become life threatening.
A source said, "Her breakdown was a blessing in disguise - it was the wake-up call she needed. She realised she had to take drastic measures or she could die." But Alley has fired back at the erroneous reports, insisting she only went to the spa to "jump start" her exercise programme.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com blog on Thursday (01Oct09), Alley wrote: "I DID NOT SEEK "PROFESSIONAL" HELP.. I have NEVER in my life weighed one ounce more that 228 pounds." Another ‘tweet’ read, "NO BREAKDOWN… NO CLOSE SOURCE… DID NOT GAIN BACK 105LBS (pounds)…"

ROCK BANS JOKES ABOUT WEST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Funnyman CHRIS ROCK has banned himself from making jokes about outspoken rapper KANYE WEST - because he’s afraid the hitmaker will take revenge by insulting him in a song.
The Stronger hitmaker has been chastised by a host of celebrities for acting inappropriately at high-profile events.
Last month (Sep09), he stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards to protest against Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video win - prompting outrage among his famous peers.
But Rock insists he won’t be following suit with jabs at the rapper and his ongoing antics.
He says, "I don’t talk about Kanye because he’s a rapper, and he can put you in a song where you get dissed every day. Every single day, every 20 minutes on the radio, you are getting dissed - and far too many things rhyme with ‘Rock’".

SCHWARZENEGGER WADES INTO POLANSKI DEBATE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

ROMAN POLANSKI should not receive special treatment because of his status as a movie director, according to ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER.
The Terminator star has become the latest celebrity to join the debate over the legendary filmmaker as he battles extradition to the U.S. to face sentencing for unlawful sex with a minor.
Polanski, who fled America in 1978 after admitting bedding a 13 year old girl, has lived in exile in France for 30 years but was arrested when he travelled to Zurich, Switzerland for a film festival on Saturday (26Sep09).
Stars including Woody Allen, Penelope Cruz and Harvey Weinstein have since leaped to the director’s defence, insisting he should be freed.
But former Cheers actress Kirstie Alley has slammed Polanski, writing on her Twitter.com blog: "This is one Hollywood star who does not CELEBRATE or DEFEND Roman Polanski." And California Governor Schwarzenegger has joined Alley in calling for the Rosemary’s Baby director to be spared preferential treatment.
He says, "It doesn’t matter if you are a big-time movie actor or a big-time movie director or producer. I think that he is a very respected person and I am a big admirer of his work. But, nevertheless, I think he should be treated like everyone else… And one should look into all of the allegations, not only his allegations, but the allegations about his case. Was there something done wrong? You know, was injustice done in the case?"

ROCKERS’ JAIL CAMPAIGN HEADS TO U.S.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

A pioneering campaign to help prisoners put their past behind them by concentrating on music is heading to the U.S.
Mick Jones of The Clash, Foo Fighters rocker Chris Shiflett, and Wayne Kramer of the MC5 joined Billy Bragg at a recent gig in London to perform for Jail Guitar Doors, a campaign created by Bragg.
Former Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things singer Carl Barat is among those who have visited inmates as part of the campaign, in which instruments are donated to jails to help rehabilitate prisoners.
He says, "It was quite an eye opener. Pretty scary. But as soon as you get over that you realise you can make a difference. Music is a form of expression and a lot of people in institutions like this have problems with expression, so done the right way it can give people a voice." Now the initiative has proved so successful it is to be rolled out across the U.S.
Kramer says, "The more we talked about it, I thought, this is something we need to do in America. There’s no downside to it."

PARAMORE SAVED BY COUNSELLING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

Pop punks PARAMORE were forced to undergo counselling in a desperate bid to save the band from self-destructing.
The Grammy-nominated rockers cancelled a string of gigs on their European tour in 2008, stating at the time that they needed "a chance to get away and work out our personal issues".
Guitarist Josh Farro sparked a series of arguments with lead singer Hayley Williams after complaining about the media’s focus on the frontwoman.
And the tension between the band members became so unbearable, they turned to therapy to clear the air.
Williams says, "We all went to a counsellor, who happened to be someone we’ve known since our band started. It wasn’t some big dramatic Metallica/Some Kind Of Monster experience but I don’t think we could’ve done the album without him.
"Josh and I always butt heads the most. We are the closest in age and the primary songwriters of the band. Creatively, we are the most outspoken and with the two of us usually having contrasting ideas, there are more than a few opportunities for disagreements. It works though, in a very quirky sort of way.
"The worst part about ever having any type of bad blood in the band was wondering how much we’d let all these people down. But in reality, we’re just humans. That’s inspiring in itself."
