BARBRA STREISAND sprained her thumbs giving ROBERT DE NIRO a massage while filming a scene for MEET THE FOCKERS.
The veteran actress starred alongside De Niro in the 2004 comedy, in which she plays a free-spirited sex therapist, and the actor demanded she put her all into body rub scene, prompting her to climb onto his back.
But Streisand was forced to halt filming after she injured her fingers forcefully kneading De Niro’s torso.
She tells U.K. TV talk show host Jonathan Ross, "That was an idea I had, I thought I should have a scene with De Niro, so they wrote that in at the last minute.
"He kept saying, ‘Do it harder, harder!’ I’m not a real masseuse! I’ll tell you the truth - I sprained both thumbs. I had to have cortisone shots (in my fingers). I got twitches and and I couldn’t move them. That’s method acting!"

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of R&B singer/songwriter KANDI BURRUSS’ fiance, who was killed in a bar brawl on Friday (02Oct09).
Fredrick Richardson has been charged with voluntary manslaughter after Ashley Jewell died of massive head injuries received in the altercation in the parking lot of The Body Tap Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
The suspect was hospitalised with injuries suffered during the fight but will be seized by cops once released from doctors’ care.
Authorities are interviewing witnesses and "trying to figure out" what happened, according to Atlanta police spokesman Officer James Polite.
And Burruss, a former member of the group Xscape, is devastated as she is also mourning the death of an uncle, whose funeral she attended on Saturday (03Sep09).
The singer updated her Twitter.com page to ask for privacy as she grieves, writing, "I’m just in one of those moods where I dont wanna talk, I dont wanna be held & told it’s gonna b ok. I just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone… I could never in a million years imagine this happening. Please pray for AJ’s children. That’s who I’m the most concerned 4." QUENTIN TARANTINO has thrilled fans by announcing a third instalment of his KILL BILL series is due in 2014.
The filmmaker’s hit movies Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, starring Uma Thurman, were released in 2003 and 2004, earning more than $332 million (£221 million) worldwide and leaving fans clamouring for more.
The director declared a follow-up is in the pipeline, with an expected release date of 2014, on Saturday (03Oct09) while appearing at the Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico.

The Monty Python legend is hitting the road with his production How To Finance Your Divorce Tour to earn more cash after he was ordered to hand over a huge lump of his fortune to his third wife in their divorce settlement.
Opening the tour to a sell-out audience on Friday (02Oct09), Cleese had fans in hysterics as he joked about his ex in a bitter tirade.
He told the crowd at the Konserthus venue, "I’m here, my friends, because frankly I need the money. I’ve fallen on hard times. I’m having to pay $20 million to a woman who I believe is the special lovechild of Bernie Madoff and Heather Mills.
"I’m being forced to hit the road again to rack up a few grand here and a few hundred there. To comfort me my lawyer told me to imagine how much I would have had to pay if Alyce had contributed anything to the relationship - such as children, or a conversation." Cleese, whose marriage to Eichelberger lasted from 1992 to 2008, will perform the show for a week in Oslo, before heading to the U.S.

Esteemed author and poet DR MAYA ANGELOU has been hospitalised after she fell ill just hours before collecting an award for her work, according to reports.
TMZ.com reports the Pulitzer-nominated writer was taken to hospital early on Saturday evening (03Oct09), the night she was to be honoured at the BraveHeart Awards in Los Angeles.
Angelou, 81, is best known for her highly-acclaimed 1968 autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and has had a varied career as a poet, dancer, film producer, television producer, playwright, film director, author and actress.

SIMON COWELL celebrated his 50th birthday in style with a lavish bash boasting performances from EARTH, WIND AND FIRE and his proteges WESTLIFE and LEONA LEWIS.
The music mogul turns 50 on Wednesday (07Oct09) but he got the party started early on Saturday (03Oct09), inviting 400 guests to the event at billionaire Sir Philip Green’s mansion in Hertfordshire, England.
And the birthday boy spared no expense in entertaining family, friends and A-list celebrities such as Sir Elton John and Kevin Spacey - he is said to have paid a whopping $1.5 million (£1 million) for the party, including $75,000 (£50,000) for a fleet of limousines to shuttle guests to the venue.

RUPERT GRINT and ROBERT PATTINSON have both been tipped to play PRINCE HARRY in a movie about the British monarch’s life.
Director Peter Kosminsky is set to begin casting for biopic The Spare, which will depict the royal’s experience losing his mother Princess Diana and serving for the Army in Afghanistan.
The filmmaker is said to be considering British actors Grint and Pattinson for the lead, as well as Pride and Prejudice star Rupert Friend, according to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
Kosminsky explains, "I feel a sense of compassion for the guy (Prince Harry). His parents break up in the most spectacularly public way, his mother dies in the most tragic and, again, public way and everything is picked over.
"He’s a man born to no role. His brother’s the heir and Harry’s the spare." The White Oleander filmmaker is refusing to rule out recruiting an American star, adding: "My personal approach as a director is that I read the script and people start to pop into my head."

A man accused of stealing from KIRSTEN DUNST has been convicted of trespassing - but faces a possible retrial for burglary.
James Jimenez allegedly joined Jarrod Beinerman in stealing a designer purse and $2,000 (£1,300) cash from Dunst’s New York hotel room in 2007 while she was filming the comedy How To Lose Friends And Alienate People.
Jimenez took the stand last month (Sep09) to tell the court he believed he was tagging along on an errand as Beinerman collected the bag for a pal’s sick mother.
He was convicted of trespassing on Friday (02Oct09) but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the burglary charge.
He is currently free on $50,000 (£34,000) bail until sentencing on 13 November (09). A decision on whether to retry Jimenez for burglary is yet to be announced.
Beinerman, 34, was sentenced to four and a half years in jail last September (08) after confessing to illegally entering the suite and taking Dunst’s belongings, as well as an iPod and a digital camera belonging to her co-star Simon Pegg.
Both actors were at the State Supreme Court in Manhattan, New York City last month (Sep09) to testify against Jimenez.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s three children are faring well since their grandmother KATHERINE took them into her care, according to a U.S. judge.
The King Of Pop’s beloved mother was granted permanent custody of Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II in August (09), just weeks after Jackson died from a cardiac arrest.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff announced at a hearing on Friday (02Oct09) that the children are happy under the court guardianship, insisting he has no plans to set a further date for custody matters.
Discussing a status report he received, Beckloff declared, "It was an excellent report" and that the kids are "really doing wonderfully with the grandmother as the guardian".
Jackson’s estate is paying Katherine $60,000 (£40,000) a month to care for the youngsters.

A drummer for U.K. hip-hop group N-DUBZ has been arrested in Scotland on suspicion of assaulting a female fan at a gig.
Aaron Fagan was handcuffed and taken into custody on Thursday night (1Oct09) after Strathclyde University campus security guards alerted authorities to alleged "indecent" behaviour, according to Britain’s The Sun.
The 24 year old was held at Glasgow Sheriff Court overnight but freed without charge on Friday (2Oct09).
Now the star is trying to put the arrest behind him, insisting the incident was sparked by his celebrity status.
He says, "It’s been a nightmare. When you’re in the limelight people want to bring you down. The truth is that the whole thing is over because it was all lies." The arrest came the night after Fagan and his N-Dubz bandmates won two honours at the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards on Wednesday (30Sep09).

Police have confirmed A.J. Jewell sustained a severe head injury during an altercation in the parking lot of The Body Tap Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was transported to nearby Piedmont Hospital, where he died.
Former Xscape star Burruss, who has appeared alongside Jewell on U.S. reality TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta, has asked for privacy as she grieves.
Burruss admitted in a September (09) interview she had put her wedding plans with Jewell on hold as they attempted to work out relationship problems.
