MADONNA WINS DAMAGES FROM U.K. NEWSPAPER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 pm

MADONNA has won undisclosed damages from a British tabloid after editors broke privacy and copyright laws by publishing photographs of her wedding to GUY RITCHIE.
The pop superstar launched legal action against the U.K.’s Mail on Sunday after it printed "purloined" pictures of her now defunct union to the Brit director in 2000.
The newspaper published 11 snaps of their Scottish nuptials around the time of their divorce last November (08).
Madonna never released or sold any pictures of the ceremony at Skibo Castle, Scotland and so she accused the publication of breach of privacy and copyright infringement, seeking more than $7.3 million (£5 million) in damages.
The photographs are believed to have been copied by an interior designer working at the star’s Beverly Hills, California home.
And on Tuesday (06Oct09), a judge at London’s High Court ordered Associated Newspapers to hand the singer a substantial payout.
The Material Girl was not present at the settlement, and is expected to donate the awarded damages to her Raising Malawi charity.

GAGA IN THE CLEAR OVER TV CURSING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

LADY GAGA has escaped punishment after swearing on live U.S. TV on Saturday (03Oct09) - because the cuss was heard during a "safe harbour" period.
The controversial singer came under fire for singing the word "s**t" while performing her hit Paparazzi on comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live, which was heard without censoring on the East Coast.
But TV bosses at the programme and network NBC will not be fined for Gaga’s indiscretion - because she belted out the four-letter word during a time in scheduling when mature content is permissible.
According to U.S. TV watchdogs at the Federal Communications Commission, action cannot be taken on indecent or profane speech broadcast between the hours of 10pm and 6am.
Last week (26Oct09), Saturday Night Live producers were criticised after actress Jenny Slate said "f**k" in a skit.

Actor/director TYLER PERRY has opened up about his horrific childhood - confessing he was beaten, abused and molested by some family members and neighbours.
The Madea Goes To Jail filmmaker is preparing for the release of Precious, a movie he co-produced with Oprah Winfrey about an abused teenage girl.
Working on the film, as well as turning 40, has prompted the star to reveal the dark secrets of his past, In a candid letter to fans on his official website, Perry writes, "I’m tired of holding this in. I don’t know what to do with it anymore, so, I’ve decided to give some of it away." Recalling how he was "mercilessly" beaten by his drunken father over his love of reading and writing, he claims he was told, "You f**king jackass! You got book sense but you ain’t got no mothaf**ken common sense (sic)! You ain’t s**t and ain’t never gonna be sh*t!" Perry adds: "I heard this every day of my childhood. He got the vacuum cleaner extension cord and trapped me in a room and beat me until the skin was coming off my back. To this day, I don’t know what would make a person do something like that to a child." The star also reveals his aunt threatened to shoot his father after one particularly bad beating but was dragged away by her husband.
He also alleges his paternal grandmother mocked him for his allergies, telling him he was riddled with "germs" and bathing him in ammonia - and insists he was molested by a man whose family later asked him to pay for his funeral.
He adds, "I quickly said no, but I wish I would have said yes. There is something so powerful to me in burying the man that molested me. I would have dug the grave myself."

CAREY SLAMS ‘DIVA’ CRITICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:03 am

MARIAH CAREY insists her "diva" behaviour has been blown out of proportion - critics just to make up stories about her odd mannerisms.
The Hero hitmaker has been dogged by claims she is a prima donna throughout her career, with countless bizarre allegations of her backstage demands, but she is adamant the reports are untrue - brushing off rumours she only eats blue M&Ms and once snubbed a hotel because she wasn’t greeted with flowers upon her arrival.
She says, "I try not to be a jerk. I really do. I try to be nice and cordial. I’ve seen the real extreme diva behaviour and I don’t think that’s who I am.
"I think I have mannerisms and that whole thing, and I’m running around in these shoes. But even before I had any type of fame, I was like this. Seriously.
"I don’t even eat (M&Ms)… They said I wouldn’t come into a hotel unless there were petals on the floor. I’m like, ‘Do you really think at 3am I give a s**t what I’m walking on?’"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:03 am

MICHAEL JACKSON’s former skin doctor has been told to butt out of the lives of the King of Pop’s kids.

The court also determined there is "no legal mother" of Prince Michael Jackson, II - aka Blanket.

PRECIOUS DIRECTOR DEFENDS MO’NIQUE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

Director LEE DANIELS has leaped to the defence of his PRECIOUS movie star MO’NIQUE, amid rumours the comedienne has refused to promote the OPRAH WINFREY-produced film without compensation.
The movie, which also features Mariah Carey, is a gritty drama produced by talk show host Winfrey and media mogul Tyler Perry.
Mo’Nique’s absence at the New York Film Festival premiere of the film on Saturday night (02Oct09) fuelled rumours of a rift between the star and executives at Lionsgate.
Reports last month (Sep09) suggested she was denied a $100,000 (£66,670) appearance fee after abandoning promotional duties at the Toronto Film Festival when her money demands were not met.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "That money didn’t even include hair and makeup costs. She also demanded that her glam squad fly first class. Apparently, she’s ignorant as to how the Hollywood system works… Because Oprah and Tyler Perry are backing the film, she feels as though there should be a budget to pay for her promotional duties." However, Daniels has hit back at the claims.
He says, "Mo’Nique is not a diva. She puts her soul into whatever she does. I love her very much."

OZZY CAN’T LIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

SHARON OSBOURNE hates attending business meetings with her husband OZZY - because the rocker is incapable of lying to their associates.
The Black Sabbath frontman and his wife have established themselves as rock royalty, with Sharon masterminding the lucrative Ozzfest in the 1990s and their hit MTV reality show The Osbournes.
But the rock matriarch was always wary of taking her husband to deal-breaking meetings because of his tendency to tell the truth.
She says, "He can’t lie. We’d be at business meetings and I would lie - I just embellish things and make them sound better than they are.
"And he’ll be like, ‘Why are you saying that?’ and I would be kicking him under the table. Then (he would say), ‘Stop kicking me under the table, what’s the matter with you?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh God!’"
