ALLEN WINS DAMAGES OVER BECKHAM & COLE STORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:03 pm

LILY ALLEN has won libel damages from a British tabloid over false claims she launched a bitter tirade against VICTORIA BECKHAM and CHERYL COLE in a French magazine.
In May (09), British newspaper The Sun reported that the Smile singer had ranted about the former Spice Girl and her husband David, as well as Girls Aloud star Cole, in an interview with French publication SoFoot.
The report stated Allen had branded David and Victoria Beckham "sickening" and had blasted Cole as "stupid" and "superficial".
But Allen quickly denied she had even given an interview to the football magazine, insisting the comments had been fabricated.
Last month (Sep09), The Sun published an apology and retraction of the allegations, with bosses accepting the quotes were false.
On Tuesday (13Oct09), the star was awarded substantial, undisclosed libel damages from the newspaper’s publishers, News Group Newspapers, at London’s High Court.
