BLOOM MADE UNICEF AMBASSADOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

British actor ORLANDO BLOOM has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The Pirates of the Caribbean star first joined forces with the non-governmental organisation in 2007 and has since worked with UNICEF officials to raise awareness about children’s rights across the globe, a campaign he will continue in his new role.
He says, "I look forward to working with UNICEF as they continue to make the world a better place for children.
"UNICEF doesn’t just deliver humanitarian aid, which is what they are known for all over the world; they also educate and provide tools which help women and children face challenges specific to their own lives. I responded to how UNICEF works as much as I did to the work itself. I look forward to learning more and to supporting UNICEF any way I can." Bloom’s first assignment as a Goodwill Ambassador will be to shoot a public service announcement highlighting the importance of access to clean drinking water.
He joins stars including Angelina Jolie, Selena Gomez and George Clooney in lending their backing to the various United Nations causes.

EARHART GOGGLES TOPS CELEBRITY AUCTION ITEMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

HILARY SWANK’s new biopic about AMELIA EARHART is sure to be a fly-away success if demand for the aviator’s memorabilia is an indicator - her goggles topped all celebrity items at a California auction last week (09Oct09).
The eye accessories Earhart wore during her historic 1932 solo transatlantic flight sold for more than a guitar Elvis Presley used onstage in Las Vegas and an endoskeleton from Terminator sequel T2 3-D.
Auction experts at Profiles in History were stunned as the goggles sent bidding into a flurry - they eventually went under the hammer for $141,600 (GBP94,400) at the 37th Hollywood Memorabilia Auction.
Presley’s personal Martin D-28 guitar state, used in his final Las Vegas performance, fetched $106,200 (GBP70,800) and an original hero screen-used T-800 Endoskeleton from T2 3-D: Battle Across Time went under the hammer for $94,400 (GBP62,933).
Also snapped up at the auction: a full-scale screen-used Hero Bumblebee robot from Transformers, Michael Jackson’s iconic illuminating glove worn on state during The Jackson’s Victory Tour and a Harrison Ford-signed Indiana Jones bullwhip from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

PRINCE STUNNED BY ‘RESPECTABLE’ FRENCH FANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

Pop superstar PRINCE was left stunned during a recent concert in Paris, France - when fans agreed to honour his request not to use camera phones to record his show.
The Purple Rain hitmaker insists on restricting the use of cameras at his gigs because he hates seeing poor quality footage of his performances online - but he never expected French fans to honour his request.
He admits he was pleasantly surprised not to see the glow of a camera phone during his concert at the Grand Palais on Sunday (11Oct09) - and he thinks Americans could learn a lot from the politeness of their French counterparts.
He says, "It is actually indescribable, that much love. They were very respectable.
"We asked that no one used camera phones and they honoured that request, unlike Americans who are so obsessed with technology.
"We don’t like to have our concert filmed that way because it sounds so bad and then you give all the footage to somebody like YouTube."

PERRY: ‘WE’VE BEEN TAKING FANS FOR GRANTED’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

AEROSMITH star JOE PERRY has accused his bandmates of taking their fans for granted over the past three years.
As the band prepares to reconvene for the first time since frontman Steven Tyler fell from a stage in South Dakota at the beginning of August (09) and shattered his collarbone, Perry admits he’s keen to get back on the road and show fans how much he cares.
The band was forced to scrap a summer tour because of Tyler’s injuries - and they’ve been out of action ever since.
In a new Billboard.com interview, he says, "The thing that bothers me the most is how it (time off) affects the fans… The only reason you’re there is because of the fans. You owe them a lot, and when you start taking them for granted it’s just wrong.
"I think that a lot of what happened with Aerosmith over the last two or three years has been a case of that. And I’m not talking about everybody in the band. I think at this point the four band members are willing to not play for a while until the fifth member gets together and decides to come and join us again." His comments come just weeks after Perry revealed he and injured frontman Tyler hadn’t spoken for a month, but last week (ends09Oct09) the guitarist insisted the band isn’t close to splitting up, despite reports to the contrary and obvious friction among bandmates.
He said, "Aerosmith is taking a breather." The band will perform a private concert at a San Francisco, California software convention later this week (beg12Oct09) and the bandmates are scheduled to play two shows in Hawaii later this month (Oct09).
Perry has also confirmed the band will perform at a Formula One race meeting in the United Arab Emirates on 1 November (09).
He states, "We’re getting our visas together and the papers drawn up and everything."

BELL KEEN TO AVOID ‘WIFE’ AT SHOWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

Violin virtuoso JOSHUA BELL fears he’ll come face to face with the fan who lies her way into shows, telling venues she’s the classical music star’s wife.
The Grammy Award-winning Indiana native loves his fans, who come in all shapes, sizes and age, but there’s one "stalker" he’d rather not meet.
He tells WENN, "One woman in particular goes around and tells the venues that she’s my wife, which she’s not. The problem is I think she actually believes it herself which is the scary part." The musician’s favourite fans are kids and the 80 year olds who follow him around America: "It’s kind of neat that I have followers that are very young because I like to attract younger people to classical music. I do have a lot of young kids writing to me on my website and showing up at concerts, and then some very old ones.
"I have a few 80-year-old ladies that follow me around to various cities; it’s fun to see them."

BLOGGERS RUIN FOXX’S COMEDY CAREER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

The Internet is killing JAMIE FOXX’s stand-up comedy career - because every time he pokes fun at a fellow celebrity, it appears online.
The funnyman-turned-R&B singer admits he’s constantly having to send "gift baskets" to stars after comments he makes about them during comedy routines in clubs are written as straight remarks on blogs, tweets and websites.
He says, "I’ve read things about me on the Internet and I’m like, ‘What?’ Now all of a sudden a certain amount of people believe that’s what you are.
"If I’m in this club doing jokes designed for the club and somebody tweets it and it says, ‘He says that so and so is an a**hole,’ the people that are reading that aren’t in the club, so it’s a tough thing to protect your art and still be out there." Foxx has started using his weekly satellite radio show, Foxxhole on Sirius, as a place where he can explain jokes that become remarks online: "We have to explain a joke or send a gift basket. It gets to the point where you just want to kick everybody in the balls with some steel-toed boots and say, ‘It’s comedy!’ Is it getting to the point where I have to apologise for jokes." The Ray star recently got into trouble with the Cyrus family after suggesting 16-year-old pop star Miley should "make a sex tape… do some heroin… and become a lesbian" as part of a joke on his radio show. Foxx has since apologised for the crude joke.

RATNER TO RELEASE ‘THE REAL WRESTLER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Filmmaker BRETT RATNER is releasing never-before-seen footage of MICKEY ROURKE that has been dubbed "the real WRESTLER".
When Rourke quit acting to pursue a boxing career in 1991, pal Ratner followed him with a camera, shooting hours of footage of the star sparring in the ring.
Nearly two decades later, Ratner is preparing to release the film as part of his Shooter Series - a collection of short films he has made throughout his career.
He tells StarPulse.com, "Even before I was born Mickey Rourke used to sleep over at my house, in my garage - he was best friends with my uncle and my mom. I grew up knowing him but then I lost track." When Ratner enrolled at New York University’s film school, he got back in touch with the star: "I was like, ‘Mickey, I can’t wait, I’m going to be a director and you’re going to be in all my films.’ And he’s like, ‘No, man, I’m quitting.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?" He’s like, ‘I’m going to be a boxer.’ I’m like, ‘Are you out of your f**king mind? You’re, like, the best actor in the world.’ "I said, ‘I’m going to follow you becoming a boxer.’ I wanted any excuse to film anything anyway. I literally spent months in Miami filming him. I put it in a garage, I hadn’t seen it in 20 years." Ratner was reminded of his film when he watched Rourke’s Oscar-nominated turn in The Wrestler, so he dug out the footage and showed it to the actor.
The moviemaker recalls, "He saw it and was like, ‘Holy shit. This is the real Wrestler.’"

TYSON SNAPPED AFTER PET PIGEON WAS KILLED BY BULLIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

MIKE TYSON’s boxing career began after he snapped when bullies ripped his pet pigeons apart before his eyes.
The fighter-turned-TV and film personality reveals all about the terrible childhood encounter with local thugs in new documentary Tyson, and he recalled the incident during an appearance on U.S. TV show Oprah on Monday (12Oct09).
Tyson revealed he once kept racing pigeons and dedicated his life to training them, but when local bullies paid him a rooftop visit - he discovered he had another sport inside him.
He said, "One guy took the bird and he just ripped open the neck and puts the bird in my face… and I was mad. I said, ‘Mike, fight,’ and I just fought… There were incidents (after that) but I got confident to fight back." Tyson became one of the most brutal boxers of all time, biting off the top of opponent Evander Holyfield’s ear and serving time behind bars for assault and alleged rape.

BUTLER BLAMES PAPARAZZI FOR RUINING ANISTON FILM SCENES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Scottish movie star GERARD BUTLER has taken aim at rude paparazzi for wrecking film shoots - because they don’t care if they’re blocking shots or forcing film crews to work overtime on reshoots and retakes.
The actor thought he was used to the coverage location shoots get from snappers until he teamed up with Jennifer Aniston in The Bounty - when filming was almost impossible at points.
He tells WENN, "Unfortunately for poor Jennifer, this roadshow comes out all the time, and then of course there were all the rumours about her and I dating, just because we’re doing a movie together, which brought out even more paparazzi.
"They’ll take 10,000 photographs in one day and wait for that moment where you hug or look at each other in a certain way. Or more individually, there’ll be photos where you scratch your nose and there’s the suggestion of nose picking. You don’t realise it and then suddenly you make that one move and they got you.
"A lot of the paparazzi are really good people but some of them are a nightmare. They go out of their way to disrupt filming and it’s really sad because you’re there with a crew of 200 just trying to make a living. You’re there for 16 hours a day and you have these guys who don’t care if they’re standing in your shot.
"If you go over and you speak to them, they’re like, ‘Don’t f**king touch me!’ So you’ve just got to sit there and wait. Or they’ll flash, so the film you just shot is useless. It’s unbelievable sometimes what they do and you’re thinking, ‘This is allowed?’ That can be very frustrating."
