COWELL DREADING 50TH BIRTHDAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

SIMON COWELL is refusing gifts for his upcoming 50th birthday - because he’s determined to ignore the milestone.
The music mogul reaches half a century next week (07Sep09) and he’ll celebrate when billionaire Sir Philip Green hosts a lavish bash in the U.K. at the weekend (03Oct09).
The event is sure to be a star-studded affair, with Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue and Kevin Spacey topping the glittering guest list.
But Cowell is desperate to downplay the landmark birthday, insisting he doesn’t see what the big deal is.
He says, "What is there to be excited about turning 50? Can’t we just pretend it’s not going to happen? Seriously, I feel exactly the same now turning 50 as I did when I was 40 or 30. I am enjoying myself.
"There are a couple of charities I am involved with that would appreciate a donation. But please, no presents from anyone."

KARDASHIAN IN TROUBLE OVER WEDDING ‘CIRCUS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

Magazine bosses are reportedly furious with KHLOE KARDASHIAN for allowing her wedding to turn into a media circus after she promised exclusive story rights to a U.S. publication.
The socialite-turned-reality TV star married basketball ace Lamar Odom on Sunday (27Sep09) at Irving Azoff’s Hollywood home, turning the quiet neighbourhood into a hotbed of paparazzi and news helicopters.
But OK! magazine editors were furious when paparazzi snaps of the bride in her wedding dress emerged, and they were forced to spend an extra $50,000 (£34,000) to buy the shots off the market, according to the New York Post’s gossip column PageSix.
Kardashian signed a $250,000 (£167,000) contract allowing the magazine to feature the nuptials in an exclusive spread.
A guest tells the publication, "There were so many helicopters overhead, you couldn’t hear the vows. The Kardashian family had assured OK! the ceremony would be at a secluded location, but in the end it was a circus."

PHILLIPS BLAMES MACKENZIE FOR RUINING HER LIFE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

Actress BIJOU PHILLIPS has blamed her half-sister MACKENZIE for ruining her relationship with their father JOHN.
Mackenzie shocked fans by detailing her 10-year sexual affair with The Mamas & The Papas singer in a new memoir, High on Arrival - and she hit headlines last week (23Sep09) when she sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about the scandal on U.S. TV.
But Bijou, John’s youngest child, has admitted Mackenzie told her about the alleged romance years ago - and it had a devastating effect on her teenage years, stripping her of her innocence and leaving her wary of her father.
The 29 year old insists it took her years to repair her relationship with the California Dreamin’ hitmaker after hearing about the rape allegations.
In a series of messages posted on her Twitter.com page, Bijou writes, "Exploiting the history of our family and the death of our father John Phillips for the release of a book is disgusting. Allegations of sexual abuse are not only hurtful, but malicious when he is not here to defend himself.
"When I was young my sister told me about this - it ruined my life and my relationship with my father. Up till that point, I was a normal kid. I got good grades, loved my horse, was pretty innocent. I moved out to NYC at 13. Started doing drugs, did not talk to my Dad anymore… I was deeply f**ked up. I’m 29 now, I’ve talked to everyone who was around during that time, I’ve asked the hard questions. I do not believe my sister. Our father is many things, this is not one of them. My dad and I made up when I was 20, a year before he died. I’m sad I lost those years with him, and I lost those years at home." John Phillips died of heart failure in 2001, aged 65.

QUAID BROTHERS ESTRANGED OVER EVI

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

RANDY QUAID’s relationship with his family has fallen apart because his younger brother DENNIS doesn’t approve of his wife EVI.
The Brokeback Mountain star and his partner were arrested in Texas over an outstanding $10,000 (£6,660) hotel bill earlier this month (Sep09) and were released after they each posted $20,000 (£13,300) bail.
But Quaid won’t be turning to his actor sibling for support in the ensuing legal battle - because the brothers fell out over Randy’s relationship with Evi, according to the 58 year old’s former private investigator, Becky Altringer.
Altringer tells RadarOnline.com, "Randy told me that none of his family will see or talk to him because of Evi. He told me that he really misses his mother and his brother Dennis, but that they are all afraid of Evi. I used to see him tear up when he’d talk about them." Altringer also maintains Randy turned to alcohol to cope with his wife’s mood swings, swigging "big glasses of straight vodka every night".
Deputy James Davis alleged Evi verbally abused him when he arrested the couple and he’s threatening legal action against her after she claimed he tried to extort cash from the Quaids.
The actor married Evi in 1989.

WINEHOUSE JETS HEALER TO U.K. TO KEEP CLEAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

AMY WINEHOUSE’s St. Lucian faith healer has jetted to Britain to ensure the star stays away from drink and drugs.
The Rehab singer met mystic Peter Cletus Hippolyte when she travelled to the Caribbean island last year (08) for several months in a bid to escape her hedonistic and chaotic London life.
She returned in the summer (09), and has since moved away from her old haunts and lives in the London suburbs.
But she felt the need to fly Hippolyte over to stay with her so she would not be tempted back into her wild ways.
And the healer reveals they spend their time singing and drinking herbal tea.
He tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "I have healing hands and I talk to her and explain things to her.
"She’s a wonderful girl and she believes in me. We hug each other, we kiss each other and I put my hands on her shoulder.
"I tell her not to worry and we sing to each other. When I come to the U.K., I will use my hands to help heal her and use my psychological healing to organise her mind.
"We will say prayers together and she will drink bush tea with antioxidants."

LAVIGNE’S COLD-HEARTED TRICKS ON BANDMEMBERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

AVRIL LAVIGNE is keen to cement her rock credentials - by revealing she loves trashing hotel rooms.
The Sk8er Boi star, who recently split from husband Deryck Whibley, is adamant her pop punk status doesn’t prevent her from following in the footsteps of hardened rockers and causing mayhem on the road.
But the singer has never gone as far as to throw a TV from a lofty height - admitting she has only covered her band’s beds in ice.
She tells OK! magazine, "I definitely have trashed hotel rooms. I don’t do it all the time, but once in a while.
"In London, I was with my band, and I was in the bar with my friend Devon, who’s my guitar player. I looked at him and it was like two o’clock in the morning and I said, ‘I think it’s time for a band initiation.’ "So I went to the front desk and got keys to everyone’s room. We got buckets of ice, and we got everybody’s room keys and threw ice on them, on their mattresses, all over. It was really funny." "I’m a big fan of hotel mini-bars. I’m always like, ‘Everyone come in my room, let’s crash the mini bar.’ I like to have fun with that."

SPEARS’ SWEET TREAT AS THE CIRCUS ROLLS OUT OF SIN CITY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

The superstar wrapped the North American dates of her latest global trek with two extra raunchy shows in Las Vegas on Sunday (27Sep09).
But things turned from saucy to tasty as she was preparing to leave Sin City - Spears raided a candy store and bought bundles of luxury tasty treats.
The Toxic singer picked out Halloween treacle and chocolate, as well as several of her own merchandised lollipops at Las Vegas’ Sugar Factory store, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
A source tells the publication, "Britney has put her worst vices behind her but clearly still has a sweet tooth.
"It’s better she’s spending all this cash on sweets than something more sinister."

U2′S MASSIVE TOUR OVERHEADS PREVENT PROFIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:39 am

Rock giants U2 are still to pull in a profit from their sold-out 360° world tour - because the mammoth show’s overheads are so costly.
The Beautiful Day legends have been on the road since June (09), rigging a huge steel construction, dubbed The Claw, as their portable stage.
But constructing the giant sculpture at every new venue, plus paying the huge team needed to put it together, doesn’t come cheap - costing a staggering $750,000 (£470,000) per show.
And despite selling out tickets around the world, the group won’t actually start pulling any revenue back in until the North American leg finishes next month (Oct09) - despite being on the road for three months.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness explains, "The tour’s engineering problems are enormous and costly. We had to find a way for it to be aesthetic and figure out a way of doing video.
"Whether we’re playing or not, the overhead is about $750,000 daily. That’s just to have the crew on payroll, to rent the trucks, all that. There’s about 200 trucks.
"Each stage is 37 trucks, so you’re up to nearly 120 there. And then the universal production is another 50-odd trucks, and there are merchandise trucks and catering trucks."
