PATRICK SWAYZE’s wife of 34 years walked out on the late actor in 2001 because she couldn’t stand the DIRTY DANCING star’s boozy ways.
The star and Lisa Niemi split for almost a year as Swayze attempted to control his heavy drinking.
The actor has revealed the low point of his long romance with Niemi in his new memoir The Time of My Life, which hit stores on Tuesday (29Sep09).
He says, "I started drinking again… (and) I found levels of bottom that I didn’t even know existed, but, for Lisa, this was too much. She packed up a couple of suitcases and took off one morning before I woke up."

AVRIL LAVIGNE’s favourite diner in the whole world is the pizza parlour she used to hang out in when she was a kid in Napanee, Ontario.
The pop star has become such a regular at La Pizzeria the owners have named a pizza after her and offered the singer free food for life.
She says, "It’s my favourite pizza restaurant in the whole world. It’s where I went on my lunch hour at school.
"The owners told me I could have free pizza for life."

MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate administrators have filed a lawsuit against the Heal the World Foundation, accusing charity bosses of using the King of Pop’s name and likeness without permission.
John Branca and John McClain state that Foundation officials have registered six trademarks and have applied for 41 additional ones, all linked to Jackson.
The legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, acknowledge Jackson founded his own Heal the World Foundation in 1992 but that charity has no connection to the defendants.
The suit alleges the defendants cybersquatted various domain names.

THE BAND star LEVON HELM is recovering from throat surgery after doctors removed a lesion on his vocal cord.
The rocker, who battled throat cancer in 1998, feared the disease had returned, but doctors assured him his latest ailment was a result of acid reflux.
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down singer will return to the road this weekend (03Oct09) for an appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas.
Helm has been on vocal rest since the recent surgery.

Rapper SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has given up his womanising ways because he’d much rather be intimate with one lover.
The entrepreneur, who is reportedly dating R&B star Cassie, messed up his long-term romance with Kim Porter by cheating on her with a photographer, who fell pregnant.
Porter walked out on Diddy when she herself was pregnant with his twins.
But the rap mogul insists he has learned his lesson - and now he wants to settle down with the perfect woman.

Rapper NAS has spoken out about the Chicago, Illinois street fight which claimed a 16-year-old honour student’s life last week (ends25Sep09), insisting the incident was over nothing and gang warfare is "played out".
The hard-hitting hip-hop star took to his blog to post his reaction to the tragedy, which cost teenager Derrion Albert his life after the Christian Fenger Academy High School student was attacked by a group of Chicago gang members after wandering into a fight.
Graphic cell phone video footage showing the teen being knocked unconscious by a plank of wood and his skull being stomped by gang leaders as he lay motionless on the ground appalled America when it hit Internet sites over the weekend (26/27Sep09).
And now Nas has lashed out at the senseless death, stating, "Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong wars! Killing each other is definitely played out. Being hurt from the loss of a love one was never cool.
"We chose the dumbest things to go the hardest for. I remember seeing deaths over 8 ball jackets, Filaâ��s, and name plate chains. Deaths over ‘he say she say!!!!!’ ‘Iâ��m from This block or Iâ��m from that block,’ or ‘my moms n pops is f**ked up now the whole world gotta pay!!!’ "I remember feeling like I was the hardest n**ga breathin (sic). And I couldnâ��t wait to prove it. â�¨But letâ��s think. What r we really proving (sic)?? And proving what to who?? Everybody knows Chicago breeds the strongest of the strong but I just feel, me, being ya brother from another state, feel your pain as if I grew up with you in ya very own household.

SCOOBY-DOO’s latest SHAGGY character has been hospitalised after sawing off his thumb.
Actor Nick Palatas, who plays Scooby-Doo’s sidekick in the new TV movie Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins, suffered the accident at his home in Northridge, California on Tuesday (29Sep09).
Medical staff at Northridge Hospital could not re-attach the digit, according to TMZ.com.

Actress EMMANUELLE BEART accepts she missed out on becoming a big Hollywood star by turning down a series of big-money movies after MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE.
The French star perfected her English for the Tom Cruise action film and was excited to land a role in the 1996 blockbuster, but she was overwhelmed by the amount of press she was subsequently forced to do to promote the movie.
The media attention she received prompted her to return to her native France - but she now wonders about the parts she could have landed had she ridden the wave of success.
She says, "Mission: Impossible opened a lot of doors, but I ran away from it. I was young. I wasn’t ready. I had just had a baby and even though I liked the director, and Tom (Cruise) was very professional, I couldn’t bear it.
"All the press junkets and the interviews… I came home to Paris and I never really wanted to go back. In a way (I regret that)."

Movie star PETER FONDA narrowly avoided death when he was 11 after he accidentally shot himself in the chest.
The Easy Rider star revealed all about his near-fatal episode during a storytelling session on the set of his new movie The Perfect Age of Rock n’ Roll.
Co-star Jason Ritter says, "He is an incredible guy and a really sweet man. I always thought he was sort of cool but didn’t realise how warm he can be at the same time. He was willing to share stories and hang out.
"He told me a story that was incredible, about how when he was 11 he was cleaning his father’s gun and accidentally shot himself in the chest and died three times on the operating table. He lost so much blood.
"They thought the bullet had pierced his heart because it was behind his heart and they realised that the millisecond that the bullet was passing through his heart, it contracted and beat so the bullet literally went right underneath. It literally grazed his heart and had his heart not beat at that exact second he would not be here today.
"When he told the story, I was hanging on every word."

A former reality TV star has pleaded not guilty to the murder of adult film actress FELICIA TANG LEE.
America’s Sexiest Bachelor star Brian Randone is charged with torturing and suffocating Lee in the home they shared in Monrovia earlier this month (11Sep09), but, at an arraignment on Tuesday (29Sep09), the 45-year-old Christian minister insisted he was innocent.
Randone called the police to report that his partner was not breathing and was arrested and charged with her death days later.
Lee appeared in films like Hotel Decadence. She was 31.

TERMINATOR star EDWARD FURLONG’s estranged wife has won a restraining order against the actor after he allegedly threatened to hire people to beat her "with chains and bats".
Rachael Kneeland, who filed for divorce from Furlong this summer (Jul09), claims her "unpredictable" ex turned violent during a recent row.
In documents, obtained by TMZ.com, Kneeland claims Furlong "grabbed me, bruised me, pushed me, made threats of more violence, left messages saying he would hire people to come and beat me with chains and bats." She also claims the actor "is smoking cocaine and doing other various drugs".
Furlong has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from Kneeland.

HUGH JACKMAN and DANIEL CRAIG’s new play A STEADY RAIN is causing chaos on Broadway, because the screaming fans the stars attract are disturbing their New York neighbours.
The actors are attracting hordes of devotees to their nightly stage performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, and their making so much noise, they can be heard in other surrounding theatres.
According to the New York Daily News, producers of rival show Superior Donuts have "had a talk" with Jackman and Craig’s show bosses about the growing noise problem.
And Steady Rain producers have reportedly agreed to have a Superior Donuts employee stand outside their theatre - to remind star-struck fans other shows are in progress.
The noise issue isn’t a first for Jackman and Craig - who just last week (23Sep09) stopped mid-performance to lambast a rude audience member whose cellphone rang repeatedly.

DAVID HASSELHOFF loves spending time in the U.K. - because strangers offer him cups of tea wherever he goes.
The Baywatch star travelled across Britain in the summer (09) to film for his upcoming TV show Meet The Hasselhoffs.
During his road trip, he frequently took a wrong turn and had to stop for directions - and was amazed at the politeness of local people.
He says, "I would get lost and we’d pull over and knock on a door. They would say ‘You’re The Hoff! Come in and have a cup of tea!’ Everywhere we went we were embraced. It was really fun.
"Everywhere I went, people would just treat me with kindness and respect, and not one negative word. I was always ‘The Hoff’. David Hasselhoff is gone, man - it’s The Hoff!" As part of the new show, the actor spent several hours with his family in a haunted house - and admits he was unnerved but sceptical about the experience.
He adds, "The haunted house was pretty wild. Your imagination goes pretty crazy. They take you at night with the ghost whisperers. My daughter got a rock in her head. We think it was thrown by somebody with a camera but we really don’t know. All I know is it was a long, scary night.
"It was a lot of fun. It was kind of like going to Disneyland - you don’t really know if it’s true or not but it’s fun."

Executives at the law firm which defended MICHAEL JACKSON during his 2005 child molestation trial are demanding $341,452 (GBP227,635) in unpaid fees from the late star’s estate.
Los Angeles-based law firm Mesereau & Yu filed court documents on Friday (25Sep09) claiming the sum is owed for work on the case between July 2005 and February 2006, reports TMZ.com.
The case blighted Jackson’s personal life until his tragic death in June (09) - causing many of his former friends and fans to keep their distance from the King of Pop.
Jackson was acquitted on 14 charges of child molestation in June 2005 - a year-and-a-half after he was accused.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON has lashed out at "ridiculous" reports she has shed 14 pounds in weight for her role in IRON MAN 2 - insisting she couldn’t lose that much if she tried.
The 25-year-old star admits she slimmed down to squeeze into a catsuit to play Black Widow in the forthcoming sequel.
But Johansson is outraged over reports she went to extreme lengths to lose weight for the part.
She tells America’s Glamour magazine, "There was this rumour mill cranking out stories that I had lost 14 pounds - I could never lose 14 pounds. I hate seeing these ridiculous articles where (tabloids) guess someone’s weight." But the actress admits her fame has made her more self-conscious about her curvy figure.
She adds, "I have a tumultuous relationship with it because I love to get ready for the red carpet, but being on it is very uncomfortable. It’s so freakish and weird. I get flop sweats, dry mouth, heart palpitations, allover panic!"

Jeffs will walk away from the death metal group when its current tour comes to an end, later in 2009.
In a statement released to Metal Hammer, he reveals, �I feel that they deserve a drummer who is 100 per cent committed to what the band is doing.
�I�ve had a great time on tour with Annotations Of An Autopsy and a great time meeting all the fans who have supported me and the band over the past year.
�I wish the band luck in the future and hope to share a stage again one day. For now, I will be playing the remaining tours we have booked �till the end of the year.�

British pop icons ERASURE will celebrate the 21st anniversary of their album THE INNOCENTS this year (09), by re-releasing the seminal disc.
The 1988 release included the hit track A Little Respect, which made the top ten in both the U.K and U.S.
The anniversary edition will hit stores on 26 October, and include remixes, DVD footage and a selection of B-sides.
