ALLEN LOVES HER MALE CREW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

LILY ALLEN thrives on the attention she receives from her male entourage on tour - because she’s the only woman her crew cares about.
The pop star recently finished a string of festival dates this summer (09), and she relished the jaunt as the sole female in her camp.
The Smile singer also admits she doesn’t mind when groupies fawn over her pals and colleagues - because she knows she is actually the only girl in their sights.
She tells Britain’s GQ magazine, "I like the attention (from men). It probably sounds really bitchy, but I like being on tour because I know all my boys, my band, first and foremost their priority is looking out for me, and I like that. I like being in a room and four f**king bimbos coming in and they’re all drooling after them but knowing that really the one they care about is me. That makes me feel comforted. And maybe that’s sick."

THURMAN PLOTTING HOLLYWOOD MOVE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Actress UMA THURMAN is contemplating a cross-country move to Hollywood - because she fears her devotion to her family life in New York could take its toll on her career.
The Kill Bill star has only taken on projects which have been filmed in the Big Apple since giving birth to daughter Maya in 1998 and son Levon in 2002, so she could remain close to her two kids with ex-husband Ethan Hawke.
But now the children are older, Thurman, 39, is determined to raise her profile as an actress - and is considering relocating to the West Coast.
She tells W magazine, "I am a mother, but I need to do what I’m good at doing. Even your kids need you to be who you are.
"I’ve been living at home for a long time. If I don’t leave soon, I’m going to literally choke my career to death." Thurman and Hawke divorced in 2004.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Pregnant HEIDI KLUM has pulled out of an appearance at designer ANN TAYLOR’s collection preview at New York Fashion Week on Thursday night (17Sep09) because she could go into labour at any moment.
The German supermodel was recently unveiled as the new face of Taylor’s clothing label, but she will be putting her feet up in Los Angeles, awaiting the imminent arrival of her third child with singer husband Seal, instead of attending the Big Apple fashion show.
A representative for Taylor tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, "(Klum) won’t be able to make it to the show because she is due any day now." The baby will be Klum’s fourth - she is mum to daughter Leni, five, from a previous relationship, in addition to sons Henry, four, and Johan, two.

SPICE GIRLS ENJOY NIGHT ON THE TOWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

The SPICE GIRLS met up in the name of Girl Power on Wednesday night (16Sep09) to enjoy a boozy night out in London.
Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm sat down for dinner at the Palm restaurant in the British capital, before heading to the May Fair Hotel for drinks.
Notable by her absence was fifth bandmember Victoria Beckham, who is currently in Los Angeles, but the pop stars still had plenty to discuss in their first meeting since Chisholm became a mother to daughter Scarlet in February (09).
Brown says, "I went out with the Spice Girls last night. It was really nice. We had steak and chips and some wine. Victoria wasn’t there but we were emailing her. The rest of us all swapped baby stories!"

POLICE STAR URGES BANDS TO REFORM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

THE POLICE rocker STEWART COPELAND has urged TALKING HEADS and THE SMITHS to reform - because they could "conquer the world".
The Message in a Bottle hitmakers reunited for a world tour in 2007, more than 20 years after they split.
Now drummer Copeland has urged fellow ’80s favourites Talking Heads and The Smiths to do the same and "bury the hatchet" - to give younger generations a chance to see them live.
He tells Spinnermusic.co.uk, "In most bands that I know, and certainly my own band, you have a real bond with your band members. Love them or hate them, there’s a bond. We in the Police found and slayed a lot of dragons. We really put a lot of misconceptions about each other and ourselves to rest. We conquered the world together, same as Talking Heads. They have had a big part in each others’ lives and wouldn’t it be great if they all got along? It’s like burying the hatchet." Asked if he thought The Smiths should also reform, Copeland adds: "I don’t know anything about the Smiths, but yes. It isn’t any act of courage to not do it. What quality does it take to say no to something like that?"

SMASHING PUMPKINS RELEASING FREE ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS are helping fans hit hard by the economic downturn by giving away their next album for free.
The band was back in the studio on Tuesday (15Sep09) to begin recording Teargarden By Kaleidyscope, which will feature a whopping 44 tracks.
Frontman Billy Corgan is adamant fans won’t have to pay a penny for the songs, which will be released one at a time from next month (Oct09).
Corgan explains on his blog, "Each song will be made available absolutely for free, to anyone anywhere. There will be no strings attached. Free will mean free, which means you won’t have to sign up for anything, give an email address, or jump through a hoop. You will be able to go and take the song or songs as you wish, as many times as you wish." The rocker also noted that the album, based on the Fool’s Journey tarot card, will also be made available for purchase in the form of 11 four-song EPs as well as a deluxe box set.
The band delighted fans in 2000 after giving away their sixth album, Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, for free via the internet.

SPRINGSTEEN AND E STREET BAND TO TAKE HIATUS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and his E STREET BAND are eyeing a hiatus after their current tour wraps up in November (09).
The veteran rocker, who hits the landmark age of 60 on Wednesday (23Sep09), is expected to take at least a year to himself while the members of his band work on solo projects following the end of their ongoing North American trek.
Guitarist Steven Van Zandt told reporters on Wednesday (16Sep09), "We are gonna take, I don’t know how long - a year, year and a half, two years off. Up to now we’ve been working a lot, and it’s great.
"This is a good time to see us. We may not be as pretty, (but) we seem to be getting better in funny ways. You never know. This could be the last tour. We do every show like it’s our last show anyway." The announcement backs up speculation Springsteen plans to quit touring with the E Street Band, after he announced earlier this year (09) that his next project will not include the group.
Springsteen and the band have been on the road regularly since kicking off their Magic tour in October 2007, and had just a few months off before heading out again for their Working On A Dream jaunt in March (09).

CONNELLY AND BETTANY CAMP TO AVOID PAPARAZZI

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

JENNIFER CONNELLY and her husband PAUL BETTANY are big fans of camping holidays - because photographers refuse to trail them during the "unglamourous" breaks.
The Hollywood couple, who wed in 2003, has blasted other stars who complain about the paparazzi - insisting it’s easy to find privacy away from the media.
They enjoy heading out on vacation to the countryside with their six-year-old son Stellan, and 11 year old Kai, from Connelly’s previous relationship, despite the harsh living conditions.
Bettany says, "Three weeks ago me and my missus and the kids were covered in mud for three days, because we got rained on from a great height when we were camping in the White Mountains (in New Hampshire)… It’s like proper camping out in the wild with bear canisters - you have to go and put your food 800 yards away in case the bears smell it.
"There’s no comfort, no blow-up beds or anything - you’re just in a tent and you fire up a little Primus (camping stove) to cook your food, and again you have to do that a long way from the tent in case the bear smells the food… We go as often as we can.
"It’s entirely normal, the most unglamourous thing you can do. Everybody stinks, and you’re cold and you’re wet and yet you see things you’d never see from a car or a hotel room. You walk every day and you’re away from everything.
"Some people in this business go, ‘I can’t go anywhere without the paparazzi’, but if you really want to you can find a way to go and be private."

GUY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

Actress JASMINE GUY filed for bankruptcy during her divorce from TERRENCE MITCHELL DUCKETT as the couple had racked up enormous debts.
Guy was recently granted a divorce from Duckett, her partner of 11 years, in the Los Angeles Superior Court - but legal documents indicate the A Different World star declared herself bankrupt during the proceedings because the couple owed thousands of dollars.
The star owes $123,503 (£82,335) in back taxes and fees, while Duckett owes $94,354 (£63,000) plus interest, reports TMZ.com.
Guy won jewellery, artwork, cars and sole custody of the couple’s daughter in the split.

MENDES FEELS EFFECTS OF RECESSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

SAM MENDES insists Hollywood movies are now "almost impossible to make" as a result of the global financial crisis.
The director admits the economic downturn means leading film studios will struggle to finance "serious" movies like his 2008 hit Revolutionary Road, which starred his wife Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Mendes reveals Dreamworks has "basically folded and rebuilt itself in another form" and Paramount Vantage "doesn’t exist any more".
And he is adamant dramas and period movies are suffering most: "They’re serious films, they have something to say, they’re the ones that are almost impossible to make… the movies in the middle are almost getting squeezed out, which is the big dramas, the movies that do cost a bit of money… with well-known actors in them." As a result of the recession, Mendes has been careful about the way he now makes movies - he created forthcoming picture, Away We Go, "very cheap" as he hired smaller name stars and no "serious money" was spent.

DOUGLAS HAUNTED BY WAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

KIRK DOUGLAS is haunted by his time in the US navy during World War II - he was sent on a mission to destroy enemy submarines packed with Japanese sailors.
The Hollywood veteran was assigned to a warship in the Pacific, with strict instructions to track down and explode subs lurking in the deep.
The ruthless nature of the mission set Douglas thinking about the true horrors of war - and the symbolic killing of a bird during a training exercise made it even more harrowing.
He writes on his official blog, "I enlisted in the Navy during World War II. In the Pacific, our assignment was looking for Japanese submarines. It bothered me to imagine young Japanese sailors deep in the ocean crowded on a submarine. They were looking to kill us, we were looking to kill them.
"I wondered if they felt any of the reluctance that I felt. My consolation was that I was better off than an army soldier having personal contact with the enemy. But it’s a strange experience from the war that still haunts me.
"It was a sunny day in calm Pacific waters. Everything was quiet except for the constant ping, ping, ping of our underwater radar device searching for submarines. If an echo came back, bouncing off of a submarine, we would try to lower explosives and destroy the submarine and all the young Japanese sailors. That was not a pleasant thought for me.
"Our young captain decided to relieve the boredom of the day with gunnery practice. The command came to man the machine guns - the targets were the graceful swooping gulls circling our vessel. The shooting began and the graceful gulls alluded the bullets flying at them. But, suddenly, one gull, wings outstretched, was hit. All I saw were two lifeless wings slowly falling down into the sea. That terrible vision has never left me."

ECKHART WANTS TWO-FACE FOR NEXT BATMAN MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

AARON ECKHART has launched a new bid to convince director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN to revive Batman comic book character TWO-FACE for the sequel to THE DARK KNIGHT.
The actor, who portrayed Harvey Dent and his alter ego Two-Face, saw his character appear to be killed off in the 2008 blockbuster, and assumed he would not be a part of any future movie installments.
But Eckhart is now appealing to Nolan to consider bringing Two-Face back from the dead - mimicking a popular technique used on dramatic TV soap operas.
He says, "I think I’ve talked myself out of the job. I thought I’d died. But you know, America’s grown up on soap operas and reinventing people so why doesn’t Chris take that into consideration (when he’s writing the script)?" The star admits he would jump at the chance to join the cast of Nolan’s third Batman outing, but would understand if the director decided not to pick up where The Dark Knight left off, out of respect to the late Heath Ledger, who played The Joker.
Eckhart adds, "If Chris asked me back, I would love to. Heath really was meant to come back as The Joker (for the next movie) as we all would want him to do so maybe this will be the way it is and be its own little thing." Ledger died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008.

She is currently preparing for her next movie, The Baster, which tells the story of an unmarried woman who decides to go down the insemination route to have children.
And when quizzed whether she would ever follow the same path by Entertainment Tonight, Aniston admits she would think about it as a viable option.
She replied, "I’m ready for anything. Bring it on. I wouldn’t rule anything out." But the star made it clear she’d hope to do things naturally before turning to other methods: "It would not be my first choice."

ANISTON REGRETS FIRST BIG BUY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:54 am

JENNIFER ANISTON is always careful when it comes to spending her money because her first big buy after she became a star was a wreck of a car.
The actress still regrets blowing her first big paycheque on a battered classic car.
She tells Parade magazine, "I bought an antique Mercedes for $20,000 that never has been ridden in or driven by me.
"I got a lemon. I bought it off Melrose Avenue. I should have known better. It was sitting on, like, the side of the road and I was like, ‘Oh my God! It’s a 1969, you know, 280SL!’ So I bought it and it just wouldn’t move."

SIMPSON REFUSES TO GIVE UP ON POOCH HUNT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:54 am

Distraught JESSICA SIMPSON has lashed out at people advising her to stop looking for her coyote-snatched pooch - branding them "a**holes".
The star was left stunned when her beloved dog Daisy was taken by a coyote in front of her eyes as she exercised her pet outside her Los Angeles home on Monday (14Sep09).
She turned to Twitter.com to beg fans to help locate the missing mutt - and even called professional pet finders at FindToto.com to bump up her desperate search.
But the singer has been left fuming by the number of fans urging her to give up hope and realise the dog will probably be dead - insisting it’s just the same as losing a child.
On her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Still holding out hope despite the a**holes that say is it a dumb thing to do. Daisy is my baby… why would I stop searching? I’m a mom."
