PERRY HINTS AT AEROSMITH DISCORD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:03 am

Reports suggesting AEROSMITH are on the verge of splitting up have been fuelled by guitarist JOE PERRY - he hasn’t spoken to injured frontman STEVEN TYLER for a month.
Asked for an update on the condition of Tyler, who smashed his collarbone after falling from a stage in August (09), Perry told ThePulseofRadio.com he’s no longer in regular contact with the singer.
He says, "You know, you’re going to have to ask his manager about that. We don’t have the same manager anymore. And I haven’t talked to him in about a month. So I don’t know what he’s doing." Aerosmith cancelled their summer tour after Tyler fell off the stage while performing in Sturgis, South Dakota on 6 August (09).
The frontman has since responded to reports the band is splitting, but confessed his new management deal has become a problem among his bandmates.
He recently told RollingStone.com, "We’re just one for all, all for one. It’s probably why we’ve never quit. No one’s got enough money! "I think there’s a little animosity that I went with another management agency… (but) I’m certainly not in outs (upset) with the guys."

BETTANY SHIPS CAR TO U.S. FOR LONDON MEMORIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

PAUL BETTANY misses living in his native England so much - he extravagantly shipped over his beloved family car to remind him of life in London.
The actor has lived in America with his wife, Jennifer Connelly, and their two sons, for the last six years and he’s been struggling to adjust to life in the U.S. ever since.
To prevent him pining for the British capital, Bettany had his ivory-coloured 1964 Volvo Amazon, which was passed on to him from his family ten years ago, shipped over to his new Stateside home.
He says, "It was a bit extravagant. But worth it. My aunt lived in Braintree (Essex, England). She drove it to the shops a mile away about 8,000 times. And my dad didn’t use it that much, so it’s got really low mileage and it’s in great nick (shape). And I thought, ‘If I leave it in London, it’s just going to rust away’, and I couldn’t bear the thought of that.
"I can’t remember what it cost to ship - it was probably more than I could get selling the car - but I love the fact that it’s here. It reminds me of home, of driving around London. I put U.S. plates on it, but it’s still a right-hand drive and they never see that in the States, so people are fascinated by it."

ECKHART UNDER MEDIA PRESSURE TO FIND LOVE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

THE DARK KNIGHT star AARON ECKHART is feeling the pressure to find a girlfriend and settle down - because reporters always quiz him about his love life when he’s promoting a new movie.
The actor is currently starring in romantic comedy Love Happens with Jennifer Aniston and he’s been bombarded with questions about when he’ll get married and start a family - even though he’s still single.
Eckhart, who was previously engaged to actress Emily Cline, admits the constant speculation is starting to annoy him - because not even his mother pressures him as much as the media.
He says, "You know who I’m getting pressure from? The press! When you’re promoting a new movie they want to know a) have you slept with your co-star, which I have not, and b) why are you so old and never been married?! And they’re getting down my root (on his nerves) about it.
"I think that once you get over the age of 40 people start to ask questions. When you’re younger and single, it’s cool. Now it’s dirty." However, the star is convinced he knows what the problem is - he’s too mature.
He adds, "I’m a very serious person, too serious I’ve been told. I like to joke around sometimes but not a lot. When you’re past 40 man, it’s all over.
"I would like to settle down and have children one day. (But) I don’t just wanna jump into it." But Eckhart is not adverse to dating a woman much younger than his 41 years - as long as they have the same interests: "I don’t see anything wrong with that. I think it’s all about maturity."

DIRTY DANCING TOWN TO HONOUR SWAYZE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

Late actor PATRICK SWAYZE is to be remembered by residents of the North Carolina community where he filmed DIRTY DANCING.
Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday (14Sep09), aged 57, after a life spent wowing movie audiences with great roles, but his best remembered will always be 1987 love story Dirty Dancing, in which he played summer camp dance teacher Johnny Castle.
Much of the low-budget movie was filmed in the town of Lake Lure and community members have organised a tribute to the star with a memorial service on Saturday (19Sep09), which will take place at Firefly Cove - a housing development which featured in the movie as his character’s summer cabin.
Visitors who attend the public service will be asked to donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

THE KILLERS POKE FUN AT KANYE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

THE KILLERS poked fun at KANYE WEST’s MTV Video Music Awards stage invasion at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday night (16Sep09) when a crew member interrupted the band’s encore to hail support act the PSYCHEDELIC FURS.
The Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers, appeared stunned when the unnamed man ran on to the stage from the wings and declared, "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time and the Psychedelic Furs had one of the best songs of all time." But it became clear the moment was set up when Richard Butler’s band joined the headliners onstage for a rendition of their 1980s anthem Pretty In Pink.
Rapper West hit the headlines when he stormed onstage at the VMAs in New York on Sunday (13Sep09) to protest Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video win. He stated his pal Beyonce should have won the prize, declaring, "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time." The sold-out Killers show at the Bowl was a true spectacular with the Las Vegas band ripping through hits like Human, Mr. Brightside, Spaceman and When We Were Young, the song that closed the show.

STREISAND CAUGHT UP IN PET CONTEST SCANDAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

BARBRA STREISAND has been left baffled after fans accused her of rigging a "cute pet" competition so her friend could win a prize to watch her in concert.
The veteran singer is due to play at notorious jazz venue Village Vanguard in New York on 26 September (09) - 48 years after she appeared there to open for legendary musician Miles Davis.
Two tickets for the gig were put up as top prize in a dog contest - which Streisand’s friend Marilyn Smart’s pooch Dina won on Monday (14Sep09).
Smart boasted about her win on her online blog, telling readers she scooped a "round-trip airfare for two, hotel accommodations, and two tickets to attend Barbra Streisand’s concert." But fans of Streisand were outraged when it emerged Smart is also a dog breeder who supplied the singer with her pet, Sammy.
They bombarded Streisand’s website with complaints alleging it was "a scam", according to New York Post gossip column PageSix - and competition organisers have now selected a new winner, after Streisand’s spokesperson admitted the choice was "inappropriate".
The star’s representative, Dick Guttman, says, "Barbra does know Marilyn Smart. Barbra did not participate in the selection because she has been away on a boat in Europe. She knows nothing about this.
"This was an inappropriate selection and arrangements are being made to rectify the situation. The tickets will be given to the next runner-up." A spokesman from Columbia Records added, "This is a complete accident which I cannot quite believe happened. We had no idea that the winner was Sammy’s breeder until it was pointed out to us by fans. Barbra had absolutely nothing to do with this."

JACKSON TRASHED VEGAS HOTEL ROOM AS POLICE RAIDED HIS HOME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

King of Pop MICHAEL JACKSON trashed a hotel room in Las Vegas after learning police were raiding his Neverland Ranch home in Santa Barbara, California - as they looked for clues to prove the pop star was a child molestor.
The singer and his entourage were staying at The Mirage hotel in 2003 when his manager Dieter Wiesner got the call to return to California as soon as possible.
A devastated Jackson then acted completely out of character, hurling furniture around his room.
Almost three months after the singer’s death, Wiesner has come forward to recall the terrible day.
He tells news show Entertainment Tonight, "He couldn’t talk and then he started to cry… Michael destroyed some stuff in the suite… He was out of control." It took a chat with his mother, Katherine, to calm Jackson down - and then she started to clean up her distraught son’s mess.
Wiesner adds, "She went down on the floor and started to clean the room. I told her, ‘You don’t have to do this because we have people here, they can take care (of this).’ "She told me, ‘You know what, I don’t want the world or anyone from the hotel to see what he did and she cleaned the whole room."

WOLF SUPPORTS ALLEN’S ANTI-PIRACY CAMPAIGN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

Outlandish British singer PATRICK WOLF has backed LILY ALLEN’s campaign against internet piracy - insisting he struggles to even pay his rent with his meagre tour earnings.
The quirky musician is an acclaimed independent artist, and relies on touring revenues to make a living as the sales of CDs have dramatically plummeted in recent years due to illegal file-sharing online.
Wolf is urging fans to listen to Smile singer Allen, who recently asked music lovers not to illegally download tracks because of the damage is causes the industry.
She said, "File sharing’s not okay for British music. We need to find new ways to help consumers access and buy music legally, but saying file sharing’s fine is not helping anyone - and definitely not helping British music." And Wolf has put out his own plea to fans - admitting he doesn’t live a "limousine lifestyle".
He writes on his MySpace.com blog, "I don’t have a Liberace helicopters and limousine lifestyle.
"I’m currently deciding whether I spend the last of my earnings this year from touring on recording the string and choir section of my new album or on the rent until December.
"Let’s start a new future, think about where all the lovely music comes from. Do what you can to protect the music you love.
"Invest in physical purchases, think about the machinery that goes on behind making your favourite band so fabulous and inspiring, and how they should be able to make a living as well as you too."

LA TOYA JACKSON: ‘MICHAEL CALLED DAD TO DEAL WITH BULLY BOSSES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON turned to his father JOE for help when he felt pushy music executives were trying to bully him, according to the King of Pop’s sister LA TOYA.
The Thriller hitmaker frequently spoke about the troubled relationship he shared with his father, claiming Joe often beat him and forced him to pursue a career in the limelight from a young age.
But the superstar’s sister La Toya insists father and son repaired their fractured relationship in recent years, and she claims they had become so close, Michael called on his dad to help put music promoters in their place just weeks before his death in June (09).
She says, "Michael had a wonderful relationship with my father.
"About two or three weeks before he passed he was having this really big meeting with all these people that were working with him and he said, ‘Joseph, I need you to come, I need you to be there because I’m not liking anything these people are doing with me, I want you to be there and tell them like it is.’ He even wrote a note to say, ‘I must call Joseph to have him there.’" Her comments contradict those made by the King of Pop’s manager Frank DiLeo, who insists Joe called for the summit meeting La Toya is referring to - and insisted his own business manager, Leonard Rowe, take over his son’s affairs.
DiLeo recalls the Thriller singer telling him he signed a document Joe Jackson put in front of him, giving Rowe control, because "my dad was standing over me".
But, according to AEG Live boss Randy Phillips, who masterminded Jacko’s ill-fated comeback, the meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles backfired on Joe, and prompted Michael to end his brief relationship with Rowe.
Phillips, who was present, told Rolling Stone magazine, "When Joe saw that it wasn’t going his way, he got in my face. He said, ‘If it weren’t for me there wouldn’t be a Michael Jackson.’" The publication reports the King of Pop fired off a letter to Rowe after the heated meeting, writing, "You do not represent me and I do not wish to have any oral or written communications with you regarding the handling of my business and/or personal matters."
