Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:33 pm

R&B singer JOHN LEGEND has been slapped with a traffic fine by police in Los Angeles after he was spotted driving without his headlights on on Thursday night (17Sep09).
The Green Light hitmaker was promptly pulled over by cops after leaving Hollywood hotspot Bardot - but he insists he is not at fault for the mistake.
Instead, Legend has blamed a car parking valet for messing with his car’s light settings.
In a post on his Twitter.com blog, Legend writes, "Valet sabotaged me! didn’t notice becuz (sic) the dashboard lites (sic) were on and usually I have my headlights on "auto" so they come on w (with) the car. Valet turned them off." But the singer is not bitter about the mishap.
He adds, "Oh well! More money for the California state treasury."

GAGA OUTRAGES NUNS AT CATHOLIC ALMA MATER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:27 pm

Catholic school officials at LADY GAGA’s New York alma mater are following anti-suicide groups by reportedly blasting her gory performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend (13Sep09).
The singer stunned the star-studded audience at the Big Apple ceremony with her most bizarre stage act to date with a shocking rendition of her hit Paparazzi.
GaGa danced with crutches alongside a wheelchair-bound performer while blood poured down her bare mid-riff.
She was then surrounded by her dancers, who acted as if to mourn her death, before her lifeless and blood-spattered body was pulled up from the stage on a winch as the curtain came down.
The performance sparked criticism from teen suicide prevention group PAPYRUS, whose bosses accused her of "romanticising suicide".
The singer later revealed that the quirky routine represented her private life being killed by the paparazzi.
However, GaGa, who attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart girls school as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, has failed to justify her sensational show to the nuns who teach at the centre in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
A source tells the New York Post, "When someone showed the nuns a video of her bloody performance at Sunday night’s VMA Awards, the good sisters were not amused." A school spokesperson had not responded to requests for a comment as WENN went to press.

FERGIE ACCUSED OF COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:25 pm

Pop star FERGIE has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit over allegations she stole her song VOODOO DOLL from a track recorded by little-known reggae group GROUNDATION.
The singer and her Black Eyed Peas bandmate will.i.am, who produced and co-wrote the 2006 tune, are being sued by record bosses at Grounded Music.
They claim the stars copied the beat from Groundation’s Each One Teach One, a song recorded in 2000 which Grounded Music owns the rights to.
According to legal papers obtained by TMZ.com, Grounded Music executives believe Fergie’s Voodoo Doll is "substantially and strikingly similar" to the band’s record and they are seeking unspecified damages.
Voodoo Doll was featured on Fergie’s debut solo album, The Dutchess.

PUREFOY COLLECTS MOVIE SWORDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:25 pm

British movie star JAMES PUREFOY loves signing up for swordfighting epics - because it’s a cheap way of updating his impressive blade collection.
The Resident Evil star always insists on keeping the swords his characters have wielded in projects like A Knight’s Tale, Rome, Don Quixote and George & The Dragon and he’s built up a cache of weapons.
He tells WENN, "I keep them all in the hall of my house just in case I have to face any marauding west London invaders! "I don’t think they’re worth much, maybe three or four pounds! I have one from George and The Dragon, one from Solomon Kane, Don Quixote, Lancelot and I’m about to do another sword movie (Ironclad), so I’ll have one from that one as well.
"My favourite is the one from Solomon Kane because those were the best fights with opponents of the highest rate you could possibly imagine. I would like an action figure to be made from this movie. I’m very proud of it."

CATHEY AVOIDED THE WIRE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 pm

THE WIRE star REG E. CATHEY refused to watch the hit TV show for two years - after producers declined to give him a role.
Cathey, who plays political aide Norman Wilson in the gritty drama series, was desperate to land a part in the pilot because he knew the programme would be a huge success.
He tried out for countless roles but was repeatedly turned down - and he was so annoyed, he refused to watch the show when it aired.
Cathey says, "What’s funny is I auditioned for every single part before the pilot. They brought me in and I auditioned for the white people, the black people, the cops, the villains - I thought, ‘I’ve got to get something’ and I got nothing! "So I didn’t watch that show for the first two years. I was sulking."

SHEEN TURNS CHITTY CHITTY VILLAIN INTO VAMPIRE KING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:14 pm

MICHAEL SHEEN partly based his TWILIGHT sequel vampire king character on the dastardly child catcher from CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG.
The Brit, who has mastered the voices of Tony Blair, David Frost and soccer icon Brian Clough for movies, admits he read Stephenie Meyer’s books for clues about how his character, Arrow, should sound in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
He tells WENN, "Stephanie wrote something in the book that his voice sounded like feathers, and that was the thing that stuck with me - the idea of someone who sounds very soft and charming and nice and kind, but underneath he’s a psychotic killer.
"It reminded me of the child capturer a little bit in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or the Blue Meanie in (Beatles film) Yellow Submarine, who has a very soft voice but (he’s) completely insane, so there’s a little bit of that in Arrow as well."

WILLIAMS AND JONZE SPLIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

Actress MICHELLE WILLIAMS has ended her romance with director SPIKE JONZE, blaming their split on "impossible timing".
The Brokeback Mountain star began dating the filmmaker in July 2008, just months after Williams’ ex-fiance Heath Ledger died from an accidental drug overdose in January (08).
But, in a candid new interview with fashion bible Vogue, Williams reveals she is no longer in a relationship with Jonze because she is still grieving the loss of Ledger.
She says, "The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: it just makes things more complicated." The actress admits she struggled to deal with the tragedy while getting used to being a single mum to her three-year-old daughter with Ledger, Matilda, in addition to juggling the pressures of a new love.
But she concedes she was overwhelmed by everything that had happened: "I obviously don’t know how to do it." And Williams confesses she came close to breaking down at the end of 2008 because the pain was too much.
She adds, "I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the fall and winter. I didn’t know if I could keep it all together… You console yourself by saying it’s all a deepening process. But it’s weird.
"After the first year, the pain is less intense - it’s less immediate."

As a result, Faris is frequently heckled in the street by men who wanted to see her in a nude centrefold.

But he refuses to pay big bucks to record with top American artists, because he doesn’t want to pay their huge fees.

FOX EASES FLYING FEARS WITH SPEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:54 pm

Anxious actress MEGAN FOX credits BRITNEY SPEARS with getting over her fear of flying - because she’s convinced she won’t die on an airplane listening to the pop star’s songs.
The Transformers beauty has been candid about her struggles with mental health problems, insisting she’s coped with anxiety since her youth.
The 23 year old developed aerophobia in more recent years - but she insists plugging in the Toxic hitmaker’s tunes during flights eases her morbid fears.
She explains, "I developed that (a fear of flying) when I turned 20. All of a sudden I got really afraid to get on airplanes. I had to come up with a way to deal with it because I didn’t want to have panic attacks every time I get on a plane. I know for a fact it’s not in my destiny to die listening to a Britney Spears album, so I always put that on in my (headphones) when I’m flying because I know it wont crash if I’ve got Britney on."

JENNIFER ANISTON is baffled by the public’s interest in her private life - because she couldn’t care less about what other stars are doing.
The former Friends star refuses to discuss her personal life and hates the idea of strangers reading about her private matters.
She tells Parade magazine, "I don’t know about your life. I don’t want to, truthfully. It’s not my business.
"It’s a very strange thing, but somehow it’s like there was some clause somewhere that said, ‘Well, you’re a public person, so we get to go into your house and search through your drawers.’ "I don’t know who came up with it because I wouldn’t have signed on. I don’t think anybody would have."

RICHARD SHOCKED BY YOUNG FOLLOWING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:54 pm

Veteran singer SIR CLIFF RICHARD is stunned when young people buy tickets for his live shows - he can’t understand why they would want to see him perform.
The Devil Woman singer has recently reunited with his group The Shadows for a set of gigs, more than 40 years after they split.
The 68 year old has enjoyed six decades of pop success, but he’s shocked he’s still attracting new audiences, because he doesn’t think he’s "hip" enough.
Richard says, "Every now and then on a tour you’ll see in amongst the crowd… and you’ll see people, (aged) maybe 25 or 30. You can see that they’re a younger element and how they would even know about us, I don’t know, because, you know, radio is not too rock and roll friendly anymore… There seems to be a kind of ageism thing and we’re not considered ‘hip’ or ‘in’ and so I don’t know how those young folks could ever possibly want to even come."

EX MOTOWN BOSS’ ASSAULT CHARGE DROPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:51 pm

Former MOTOWN RECORDS boss KEDAR MASSENBURG has escaped prosecution for allegedly attacking a police officer and stealing his badge after a night out in New York.
The music mogul - who ran the label from 1997 to 2004 and launched the career of Erykah Badu - was accused of smashing a bottle over the head of an off-duty New Jersey cop during bust-up at B.B. King’s blues club in June (09).
When the entertainment guru discovered suspended officer Sean Bradforth was a cop, he allegedly fled the scene, taking his badge with him.
Massenburg’s lawyer argued Bradforth sparked the dispute, which the music boss claimed was purely verbal.
Manhattan prosecutors dropped the felony assault charge against Massenburg on Thursday (17Sep09).

JONES’ SHOCK AT PRESLEY’S GUN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:51 pm

TOM JONES was once left shocked when he found ELVIS PRESLEY’s gun in his dressing room lavatory.
The veteran Welsh singer struck up a close friendship with The King and they would often spend time together when they were in the same city on tour.
But on one occasion, after Jones appeared at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, he was stunned to find a silver-plated Colt .45 automatic pistol on his toilet cistern after Presley had used the bathroom.
Jones tried to discreetly hand it back, only to see the Jailhouse Rock hitmaker shrug off the incident.
He says, "I wrapped it up in this towel, took it out and said, very quietly, ‘Er, Elvis, you left your gun in the toilet.’ And Elvis just goes: ‘Aw s**t man, ma .45′, and stuck it in his belt. I was trying to be very discreet about the whole thing, but he couldn’t have cared less."

BEATLES’ PHOTOS SPARK COPYRIGHT SUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:51 pm

A former BEATLES photographer is battling over the copyright for the first publicity photos of the rock group, after the images were used to sell books and DVDs featuring the band.
New York-based snapper Albert Marrion filed suit on Thursday (17Sep09) over memorabilia containing copyrighted photos of the group.
Marrion claims he shot the images - which are believed to be the first promo photos of the rock legends - in 1961.
The Manhattan federal court suit says Marrion discovered the photos were featured "without permission" in four Beatles books and a DVD documentary available from Netflix, Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
Memorabilia dealer Gary Schaeffer claims he has held the rights to the 16 pictures since 2001, reports the New York Post.
