JACKSON SLAMMED FAMILY IN SHOCK AUTOBIOGRAPHY TAPES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:45 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON blasted his famous family members in explosive recordings made for his 1988 autobiography - branding JERMAINE a "womaniser" and TITO "boring".
The King Of Pop hits out at all of his Jackson 5 bandmate brothers - Jermaine and Tito, as well as Marlon and Jackie - claiming they were lazy and moaned during their time in the group, while he was always "watching and learning".
The revelations come from a series of taped interviews Jackson gave for his 1988 book Moonwalk - but insisted were never published at the time.
In the recordings, obtained by Britain’s News of the World newspaper, Jackson is heard saying, "The brothers didn’t give me support. We’d be working on a TV show or video and they’d be sitting around moaning and groaning but I’d be watching and learning.
"It takes a talent, but some people are lazy and don’t want to develop anything." He then hits out at his brothers one by one - calling Marlon "old-fashioned", branding Jackie "negative" and referring to Randy, who later joined the group, as "hard-headed" and "macho".
Jackson then takes aim at his sister La Toya, adding: "To me, she is Mrs Nice and Nasty." The star admits he was unhappy when his younger sister Janet wed producer James DeBarge in 1984: "It kills me to see her off and married. We did everything together and were just alike. It’s a terrible loss." Jackson also hits out at his beloved mother Katherine for giving a tell-all interview about him when he was younger.
He says, "She disappointed me. She did an interview. I don’t like her to talk. It’s none of those people’s business." But the revelations never made it into the book, as Jackson told the tome’s ghostwriter: "You can’t print that." Moonwalk is set to be re-released next month (Oct09), following Jackson’s death in June (09).

WOOD AND LOVER KISS AND MAKE UP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

Rocker RONNIE WOOD and his young Russian lover are putting on a united front after rumours they had split.
The Rolling Stones star, 62, left his wife of 23 years in July last year (08) to be with 20 year old waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.
Earlier this week (beg14Sep09) Wood was seen throwing Ivanova’s clothes off the balcony of their flat and onto the street after locking the former waitress out of the property.
Days later, Wood reportedly moved into a new apartment away from Ivanova - but it has now emerged she has joined him at a $6,500 (£5,000) a month three-bedroom apartment in a mock castle in Surrey, south England.
The Russian beauty tells Britain’s The People newspaper, "We are still together and happy. Nothing’s happened. You don’t even know anything about us, how dare you presume such things. We haven’t left each other’s side for weeks, the papers are full of lies."

BUCHANAN: ‘EWEN ISN’T A SUGABABE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

The future of British girl group the SUGABABES is looking increasingly uncertain - KEISHA BUCHANAN has denied JADE EWEN will be joining the trio after AMELLE BERRABAH’s shock departure earlier this week (begs14Sep09).
Berrabah reportedly walked out on the group for good after missing a string of gigs with the band following a series of rows with Buchanan.
Reports in the British press suggested Eurovision contestant Ewen would replace the 25 year old and was jetting out to Los Angeles to shoot a new video with Buchanan and fellow bandmate Heidi Range.
But founding member Buchanan has shot down the rumours.
She tells Britain’s News of the World newspaper, "It’s not true she’s joining. She’s a friend of mine but no, I’m not a liar. It’s completely false, that’s the honest to God truth. One hundred per cent." The group’s record company Island is due to make a big announcement on the future of the band in the next couple of days - fuelling speculation they may split.
A source adds, "There’s crunch talks being held at the moment. Keisha doesn’t know if she can deal with the stress of a new member joining if Amelle leaves. It seems like the perfect time for the band to end.
"They’re not best mates but as far as Amelle is concerned she’s a Sugababe for the moment while they sort everything out."

BEYONCE BLASTED OVER MALAYSIAN CONCERT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

BEYONCE is facing controversy for scheduling a concert in Malaysia - just two years after she was forced to cancel a show in the country following protest threats.
The Crazy In Love hitmaker is taking to the stage in Kuala Lumpur in October (09) as part of her I Am… world tour.
The star axed a 2007 gig in the country following protest threats by Malaysia’s opposition Islamic party, because of strict laws which require female performers to cover up from the shoulders to knees with no cleavage showing.
Critics have already voiced their outrage at the upcoming show, and are planning to protest to the government over the scheduled gig.
Sabki Yusof, youth vice head of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, says, "We are not against entertainment as long as it is within the framework of our culture and our religion. We are against Western sexy performances. We don’t think our people need that." Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have performed in Malaysia under similar protest threats by conservative Muslims and were forced to cover up for their concerts.

DISTRICT 9 SLAMMED BY NIGERIAN OFFICIALS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

A top Nigerian official has demanded cinema bosses axe sci-fi movie DISTRICT 9 because of its portrayal of the country’s natives as gangsters and cannibals.
The drama, a morality tale about aliens and apartheid, was slammed by Nigeria’s Information Minister Dora Akunyili, who requested theatres in the capital Abuja stop screening the film.
Akunyili says, "We have directed that they should stop public screening of the film. We are not happy about it because it portrays Nigeria in bad light." The minister has asked Sony bosses for an apology - and wants them to edit out references to Nigeria and complains the name of the main gangster Obesandjo closely resembles that of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Akunyili adds, "We have written to the producer and distributor of the film, Sony Entertainment, expressing our displeasure and demanded an apology. We have asked that the areas where Nigeria and Obasanjo are mentioned should be edited from the film."

KING SUED OVER CAR CRASH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:36 pm

U.S. talk show host LARRY KING has been hit with a lawsuit for more than $50,000 (£35,000) over a car crash last November (08).
King’s company, Larry King Enterprises, and his driver are being sued by two unnamed motorists who claim the accident left them with serious injuries.
But King’s wife Shawn has hit out at the allegations, insisting the couple who filed the lawsuits were "completely fine" after the accident and are eyeing a compensation payout because of her husband’s star status.
Shawn tells TMZ.com, "This is a completely frivolous and fraudulent lawsuit. There was zero damage to both cars. Our driver has an excellent record and is extremely responsible. At the time of the incident, the people got out of the car, said they were completely fine.
"Our driver checked to see if they were okay. We have witnesses who will confirm that. They exchanged insurance information, and as soon as they saw Larry King Enterprises, they decided to go for what they assumed are deep pockets.
"These people went to an ambulance chaser for an attorney, and as though they were filling out a form to get the maximum amount of money they could, checked off every box possible. In return, they will be on the receiving end of a big, fat lawsuit." Both sides are due in court in December (09).

FACES PLAN CHRISTMAS REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

THE FACES reunion is back on again, minus frontman ROD STEWART - the group is rehearsing to perform at a charity event this Christmas (09).
The group, consisting of Stewart, Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones and Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, reformed after their 1975 split for a series of top secret rehearsals last year (08), with talk of a full tour following.
But negotiations fell through early this year (09), despite comments by Wood suggesting all was well and the bandmates couldn’t wait to hit the road.
Stewart scuppered plans for a full reunion in March (09), insisting he would not be taking part in a reunion as he launched his own tour and new album plans.
But the remaining trio is now intending to perform together at London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall in December (09), according to Britain’s The Sun.
A source tells the publication, "Ronnie, Kenney and Ian have been trying their best to persuade Rod to sign up but he is focusing on his new Soul Book covers collection which is due in November.
"Rehearsals have already begun and everyone’s really positive. If it goes well, they intend to stage some more."

MOVIE BOSSES DEFEND JACKSON DOCUMENTARY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

Movie bosses have fired back at rumours MICHAEL JACKSON’s forthcoming THIS IS IT tour documentary is "propaganda" for concert promoters to prove the star was fit to perform prior to his death.
Jackson died in June (09) after suffering a cardiac arrest, sparking investigations into his prescription drug abuse and reports over long-held fears for his health.
Bosses at AEG Live are donating the majority of the film’s profits to the Jackson Family Trust and have vigilantly defended allegations Jackson was pushed into extending his initial 10 show dates to 50 - despite concerns the star was too frail to perform.
The star’s father Joe Jackson raised concerns in July (09), revealing, "Michael told me himself that he agreed to 10 shows. But they went and added all these other shows. I was worried about his health." New reports suggest the family is under pressure to support the film.
A source tells the New York Post, "He (Michael Jackson) supposedly looks fit, together and excited. The family can’t speak out because money will be paid to the trust, but privately, they fear the movie is propaganda to back AEG’s argument that Michael was healthy and wasn’t being exploited. While fans want to remember Michael as the King of Pop, the family are still suspicious of AEG and how they handled Michael." An AEG spokesperson has dodged the rumours: "This is a matter for Sony, who bought the footage from us." Meanwhile, bosses at Sony have hit back at the claims which "make no sense and don’t deserve comment," calling the film "a beautiful tribute".
The film is set for a two-week worldwide theatrical release next month (28Oct09).

Pleasant Bridgewater and ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne were allegedly involved in a $25 million (£17.2 million) plot to bribe Travolta and his grieving wife Kelly Preston in the hours after their teenage son Jett died in January (09).
Lightbourne allegedly conspired with former Bahamas senator Bridgewater to release a document containing information about the teenager’s death from a seizure while on a family holiday in the Bahamas.
The accused pair pleaded not guilty to the charges in April (09) and were released on bail pending a trial on Monday (21Sep09).
Pulp Fiction star Travolta is set to travel to the Bahamas to testify on behalf of the prosecution, according to TMZ.com.
