JULIA ROBERTS has come under fire from locals in India who have reportedly been barred from worshipping at a temple while the star shoots her new movie EAT, PRAY, LOVE.
The actress has sparked anger from Hindu villagers after they were turned away from their place of worship by guards as filming takes place in the surrounding area.
Around 350 security staff, including 100 bouncers and 40 gunmen, are said to have been hired to keep possible intruders away, according to reports in the British press.
Worshipper Shakuntala Devi says, "It’s the holiest time of the year and we must not be stopped from visiting our own temple." But an official tells British tabloid The Sun, "Nobody can breach the cover. We have strict instructions." Roberts has also been given a bulletproof car to travel in to the set, according to the publication.

Rocker CARL BARAT is set to hit the West End stage in London next year (10) after signing on to appear in two new plays.
The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things star is refusing to give up details of his acting roles, but reveals the first of his thespian ventures will begin in January (10).
The roles won’t be Barat’s first acting parts - he portrayed rock ‘n’ roll icon Gene Vincent in the movie Telstar.

Eddie’s Bar opened 20 years ago and has been run by former Maiden roadies and ex-bandmates.
The venue featured items from Iron Maiden tours and was named after the band’s monster mascot.

Disgraced British pop star GARY GLITTER returned to court on Tuesday (22Sep09) to fight an order banning him from travelling outside the U.K.
The singer, who served three years in a Vietnamese prison for sexually assaulting two female minors, must inform British authorities of any plans to head overseas after signing the Sex Offenders Register upon his return to Britain last year (08).
He has applied for permission to travel to France but London’s Metropolitan Police wants to impose a restriction to prevent him from leaving the country amid fears he’ll cross the French border to Spain.
Detective Sergeant Brendan Gibbs told City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court the star - real name Paul Gadd - is "unable to help himself" when allowed near children.
The case was adjourned while a chief magistrate decides on the ruling.

MACKENZIE PHILLIPS has stunned fans and family by confessing she conducted a sexual relationship with her musician father JOHN PHILLIPS for years.
The former child star was just 19 when The Mamas & The Papas singer raped her on the night before she married Jeff Sessler in 1979.
She writes in new book High on Arrival, "On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it (the wedding). I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.
"My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.
"Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout." The star’s addiction spiralled out of control in the following years and even a shared stint in rehab with the California Dreamin’ hitmaker failed to put an end to their drug use.
The incestuous relationship later became consensual as the dad and daughter began touring in a band called the New Mamas and the Papas.
She adds, "I was a fragment of a person, and my secret isolated me. One night Dad said, ‘We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji.’ He was completely delusional.
"’No,’ I thought, ‘we’re going to hell for this.’"

JERMAINE JACKSON has fuelled speculation he has fallen out with his brothers by refusing to show up for a scheduled photoshoot in New York.
The singer was due to join siblings Tito, Marlon and Jackie for a promotional session to launch an upcoming reality TV show - but he cancelled at the last minute, due to an eye infection.
And Marlon has revealed to U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight he was more than a little frustrated: "He’s got pink eye, and I told him that when I see him, he’s gonna have a purple eye." Jermaine will be photoshopped into the promotional picture.
Rumours of a family rift started last month (Aug09) as Jermaine tried to finalise a tribute to his late brother Michael in Austria. Reports suggested the family hated the idea and refused to be a part of the Vienna show.
And Tito has confirmed there were issues, stating, "We’re still mourning. Some time maybe in a year, a year and a half from now, it makes a little more sense for us to do something as a unit." The concert has since been postponed due to a lack of big names.

Animated family film CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS is the U.K.’s number one movie after taking $2.4 million (£1.6 million) in its opening weekend (19-20Sep09).
The 3D comedy, featuring vocal talent from actors James Caan and Bill Hader, knocked sci-fi drama District 9 to second place, with earnings of $1.2 million (£810,600), after two weeks at the top of the box office charts.

A woman trying to contest MICHAEL JACKSON’s will has had her attempt turned down by a U.S. judge.
Charlaine Buie maintains she had a relationship with the late singer and appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court Judge on Tuesday (22Sep09) to object to Jackson’s will, reports RadarOnline.com.
It is believed Buie was contesting the document in a bid to claim a portion of the Billie Jean hitmaker’s estate.
But Judge Mitchell Beckloff denied Buie’s motion, ruling that she had no standing.

The girlfriend of MICHAEL JACKSON’s physician has been called to testify before a grand jury.
Nicole Alvarez, who gave birth to Dr. Conrad Murray’s son Che in March (09), will face prosecutors investigating Jackson’s death later this week (ends25Sep09), according to the Los Angeles Times newspaper.
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office is seeking simple testimony from the 27 year old at this time.
Murray is the target of a manslaughter investigation linked to Jackson’s death in June (09).
According to the publication, Alvarez had to be subpoenaed into testifying in court after she refused to co-operate with detectives.
In an affidavit leaked to the Times this summer (09), Dr. Murray acknowledged he administered the anaesthetic propofol and other medications to Jackson in the hours leading up to the King of Pop’s death, but he contends he did nothing wrong.

Singer MIKA is glad he rebelled when he was a teenager - because it has allowed him to remain sane as an adult.
The Grace Kelly hitmaker admits he fell in with the wrong crowd when he was growing up in London, and his parents often chastised him for his late-night partying.
But the 26 year old credits his early chaotic lifestyle with keeping his feet on the ground now he is a pop star.
He tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "Sneaking out of my house at 3 in the morning to hang out with people who were too old. I used to go to this club every Monday, put on some guyliner, party it down. I always got caught, though, and I’d get smacked when I got back, mostly about the face. Never really badly.
"I was doing things I shouldn’t have been doing. And I’m glad I did it then, because now I’ve stayed sane. I’m kind of over it." It was an ultimatum from his mother that helped Mika turn his life around - and the star is forever grateful he took her advice.
He adds, "My mum was like, ‘You’re either going to end up in jail or famous. You make your mind up.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s an easy choice.’"
