BRAD PITT has been granted a fellowship into the Design Futures Council.
The actor, who has had a love of building projects since childhood, is one of 13 individuals receiving the honour and was selected for his contributions to design.
Council co-chairman James P. Cramer says, "We are most inspired and we congratulate our new DFC Senior Fellows." The Fight Club star launched an affordable housing project in New Orleans, Louisiana after the city was devastated by 2005’s Hurricane Katrina when the levees broke and flood water wiped out many residential areas.

LILY ALLEN has confirmed she has no intention to ever record another album.
The British pop star is currently leading a campaign to stamp-out illegal online file-sharing in the U.K., encouraging music lovers to buy albums in order to save the struggling record industry.
And she has taken to her blog to tell fans she doesn’t stand to gain financially from the fight - because she is quitting her music career for good.
She writes, "Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause).
"I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade. The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I’m concerned, so I don’t (at this point) stand to profit from legislation, except future purchases of previously recorded material (which won’t be much)." Allen is set to test her acting skills after landing the lead role in writer/director Neil LaBute’s upcoming London play Reasons To Be Pretty.

JAY-Z was infuriated after LIL MAMA jumped onstage while he performed with ALICIA KEYS at the MTV Video Music Awards - because the performance took weeks to plan.
The diminutive star rushed the stage unexpectedly towards the end of the superstars’ rendition of Empire State of Mind at the ceremony earlier this month (Sep09).
Jay-Z continued to perform while shooing Lil Mama away - but the defiant star stood her ground and posed with the duo as the song came to a close.
And now Jay-Z has spoken up to address the invasion, admitting he was "angry" with the interruption after putting in so many hours of preparation.
He tells DJ Angie Martinez, "Me, personally, I would never do that. I would never have the nerve to do that. It’s just like, someone’s up there performing… We went through rehearsals, we did run-throughs and we worked really hard at the performance to put on a show for people and to interrupt that moment for us, you know, I don’t think that was the right thing to do." The star added that the incident was just as inappropriate as when Kanye West ruined Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech earlier in the night: "I actually thought it was the equivalent of what Kanye did to Taylor Swift but nobody really talked about that because I’m not a little sweet girl from the middle of America. And I’m cool with her (Lil Mama) being excited and all that but you have to understand, people put in work to make that performance happen, that took weeks the planning of it. If you look at those screens, we had to go to Yankee Stadium to shoot that live, there was a lot of planning. To disrupt that was out of line. I was a little angry to be honest, but what do I do, fight Lil Mama?"

Guitar strumming singer NEWTON FAULKNER has insured his wrist for $2.25 million (£1.5 million) after breaking his arm in a freak accident.
The Dream Catch Me songwriter was terrified he would never be able to play the guitar again after snapping his bone in a fall in December (08).
Doctors implanted a metal plate into his arm - and now the star is taking extra precautions for his musical future by taking out the insurance policy.
Bosses at his record label Sony BMG have also banned the rocker from playing any sports to prevent him from suffering any more injuries.

RICK BUCKLER has parted ways with BRUCE FOXTON, ending their collaboration as the last members of THE JAM.
The drummer has quit the duo, which recorded under the name From The Jam, after Foxton agreed to play bass on the pair’s former bandmate Paul Weller’s upcoming album Wake Up The Nation.
Buckler, who provided no explanation for the split, says, "It is with some regret that I can no longer be involved with From The Jam.
"Many thanks to the fans for all their support over the last few years… It has been a pleasure and an honour." Foxton has confirmed he will continue to play as part of From The Jam after recruiting a new percussionist to fill Buckler’s place.
However, a spokesperson for Weller is adamant Foxton is not joining forces with the Modfather to reform The Jam.
The rep adds, "Paul and Rick still don’t talk. He said he’d have to be in the gutter and his children starving before he ever performed as The Jam again, and he means it. The Smiths are more likely to reform than them."

Police are appealing for help locating a group of women who burgled RICK ROSS’ hotel room on 7 June (09).
The rapper was at a party in the lobby of the Hilton hotel in Nashville, Tennessee when fellow female partygoers reportedly raided the star’s suite.
Surveillance cameras captured the women, believed to be in their early 20s, making off with several personal items, including $60,000 (£40,000) worth of jewellery and a laptop computer.
Authorities believe the women had links to members of Ross’ entourage, and they have released the security footage in a bid to track down the suspects.
James Vivrette of the Metro Police Department says, "It (the tape) shows a lot of good facial features as well as clothing. They’re very identifiable to the individual that would know them."

Celebrity comedienne and singer SANDRA BERNHARD has lashed out at reality TV stars, insisting the antics of the fame-hungry are stealing airtime from more talented performers.
Bernhard "struck out" on her own as a teen to make a name for herself in Hollywood, and the 54 year old is outraged her hard work over four decades has been overshadowed by popular programmes following everyday people.
She rants, "I am completely against reality television. It’s not about hate, it’s just the idea that people like me and so many people… hone their craft. I think you’re born with the DNA of wanting to be a performer.
"This is something I always wanted to do. I struck out when I was 18 years old. I started doing stand-up (comedy), I started singing. But I did it on my own. I don’t believe that people who come from day-to-day life should be taking airtime from people who’ve worked so hard. It’s important for the public to understand the difference between artists and people who create, and people who just step in."

Actress MACKENZIE PHILLIPS hopes her shocking new memoir, HIGH ON ARRIVAL, makes incest a talking point in America.
The troubled star reveals she had a decade-long sexual relationship with her father, the Mamas & the Papas star John Phillips, in the book, explaining that what started out as rape when she was a teenager became a perverse consensual act.
Speaking candidly to Oprah Winfrey on the media titan’s talk show, which aired in America on Wednesday (23Sep09), Phillips said, "I know that I can’t be the only one this has happened to; nobody is talking about this.
"Someone need to put a face on not only non-consensual incest but consensual incest because I know it exists. I know it’s happening in families and I can’t be the only person to have lived through this."

ROLLING STONES star MICK JAGGER seduced pal JOHN PHILLIPS’ teenage daughter MACKENZIE while the MAMAS & THE PAPAS star was making him a tuna sandwich.
The California Dreamin’ singer had left the rocker alone with his 18-year-old daughter in Jagger’s apartment while he went out to get some mayonnaise and when he returned, he found the door had been locked and he realised the Brit was having sex with his girl.
Mackenzie recalls, "My dad walks out (of the apartment), Mick turns around, locks the door, looks at me and he says, ‘I’ve been waiting for this since you were 10 years old…’ and he seduced me.
"My dad comes back and (says), ‘That’s my daughter in there, let her out,’ and we just ignored him." She adds, "It’s a dubious distinction, having had sex with Mick Jagger." Phillips’ father eventually gave up trying to break down Jagger’s apartment door and simply called the following morning to make sure his daughter was OK.
She says, "He says, ‘Was he nice to you? Are you OK?’ and I said, ‘Mick just brought a tray of tea and toast and strawberries and Marmite. We’re fine. I’ll talk to you later.’"

Actress JOANNA GARCIA has found a new baseball beau after breaking off her engagement to JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’s business partner and best friend TRACE AYALA.

MADONNA’s best pal DEBI MAZAR has joined the list of DANCING WITH THE STARS casualties after tearing a muscle in her neck.
The actress was taken to hospital after the U.S. TV show’s premiere on Tuesday night (22Sep09) and is now sporting a neck brace.
In a Twitter.com post to fans, Mazar writes, "I’m okay - torn muscle in neck to chest! Foxtrot… cruel and sadistic." The actress also attached a photo of herself wearing the neck brace.
Fellow contestant Mya is also dancing injured - she slashed her hand on broken glass.
The show has a long history of injuries to famous contestants - last season, Jewel was forced to pull out of the show after suffering knee injuries and Steve-O and Sex & The City: The Movie star Gilles Marini were in and out of hospital with serious medical issues.

JAMIE FOXX struggled to learn the cello for his movie about a schizophrenic musician - until he realised he could impress women with his newfound talent.
The Oscar winner portrays homeless cello prodigy Nathanial Ayers in The Soloist and was required to learn the instrument for the role.
But Foxx was lacklustre with his efforts to pick up the right notes, before realising the skill could prove useful.
Director Joe Wright says, "He learnt how to play the cello and he practised for six months. He was not fully committed for the first few weeks and then he discovered that girls quite like it when fellas play classical musical instruments and that upped his game."

Rapper LIL BOOSIE has been sentenced to two years behind bars after pleading guilty to gun and drug possession charges.
The Wipe Me Down hitmaker, real name Torrence Hatch, was arrested late last year (08) after police found a gun, marijuana and a cigar laced with another drug on his person during a traffic stop.
Hatch has had a troubling year of legals issues - in April (09) he was arrested for assault following an alleged brawl at his Louisiana home. He was taken into custody and charged with second degree battery.
He was released from custody after posting $400,000 (£266,000) bail.

Flamboyant pop star MIKA has addressed persistent speculation about his sexuality, confessing he is bisexual.
The Grace Kelly hitmaker has previously refused to confirm or deny rumours he’s gay, insisting he doesn’t want to "label" himself, but now the singer has announced he is comfortable being bisexual.
He tells Gay&Night magazine, "I’ve never ever labelled myself. But having said that; I’ve never limited my life, I’ve never limited who I sleep with… Call me whatever you want. Call me bisexual, if you need a term for me." When asked if he believes he’s a good example for young teens trying to identify their sexual preference, Mika added, "There are ways of being a role model without having to always establish yourself with a label. Let’s say if you’re a 16-year-old guy, and you’re not sure about your sexuality, you should be as free as you want. You shouldn’t have to say, ‘I’m gonna label myself in order to figure out what is going to make me happy in life.’ "You don’t have to pigeonhole yourself all the time. You shouldn’t stick yourself into any kind of constraints or limitations at all. And seriously, if ‘bi’ is the label that helps you do it, then do that… That’s as close as I’ll get to any label."

MACKENZIE PHILLIPS’ stepmothers are disputing the actress’ shocking revelations she had a 10-year incestual relationship with her father.
Phillips has detailed her sick romance with late Mamas & the Papas legend John Phillips in her new memoir High On Arrival, where she also accuses her dad of introducing her to hard drugs.
She appeared on U.S. talk show Oprah on Wednesday (23Sep09) to further discuss her stunning new tome - and just hours after the programme aired, her father’s ex-wives spoke out about the actress’ allegations.
Genevieve Phillips, who was married to John from 1972 to 1985, says, "I am stunned by Mackenzie’s terrible allegations about her father.
"I would often complain to John about her overly familiar attitude towards him and he would tell me that that was just her way. John was a good man who had the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction. He was incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, of having such a relationship with his own child." And Michelle Phillips, who was John Phillips’ wife from 1962-1970, admits her stepdaughter joked about a sexual relationship with her father 12 years ago.
The singer tells The Hollywood Reporter’s Roger Friedman, "She called me back and said, ‘You know I’m joking.’ I said it wasn’t funny.
"John was a bad parent, and a drug addict… (but) if she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I think it’s unconscionable that Oprah would let her do her show. I have every reason to believe it’s untrue. Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show.
"Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years." But the actress’ stepsister Chynna Phillips admits she believes Mackenzie, stating, "Do I believe that they had an incestuous relationship and that it went on for 10 years? Yes." Stars including GINNIFER GOODWIN and MYA are spearheading a new canine charity campaign to stop pet stores selling puppies.
The ladies attended the Stop Puppy Mills Humane Society benefit on Tuesday night (22Sep09) and are speaking out about the practice of selling pups kept in inhumane conditions.
Goodwin is urging Americans to get their puppies from rescue centres.
She tells RadarOnline.com, "There are 10,000 of these places in the United States, selling millions of these dogs every year to customers who are unwittingly buying these pets online and from pet stores.
"The dogs, they’re stacked in crates and they don’t have access to sunlight or running water or veterinary care or love, and, really, if you’re gonna adopt a furry friend into your family, the only answer is truly adopting and going to your local shelter."

Hollywood couple DAVID DUCHOVNY and TEA LEONI spent the summer touring across America in a bus.
The actors rented a "rock ‘n’ roll tourbus" and took their kids on a road trip to Nevada, Texas and Amish country.
Duchovny admits he couldn’t believe how big his home on wheels was: "It’s a lot of bus… There were 12 bunks and there was only four of us; it was all bunks." And the X-Files star had issues with the vehicle’s lavatory rules.
He adds, "There was a toilet but we were advised to go… we could go number one (urinate)." The family had to poop into bags if they couldn’t wait until the next stop, and Duchovny jokes, "I became my own dog." The highlight of the trip was a stopover with an Amish family.
The actor explains, "We spent a full day with an Amish family… It was refreshing because they had no idea who (I was)… but the son… recognised my wife from Bad Boys, so apparently that’s a big movie with the Amish."
